Sara looked nothing like Mary, which had been partly why Tosh had been more than happy to see her. The woman was taller than her, a brunette and she seemed more than a little meek, she was also one of Gwen's best friends.

Tosh had found it hard getting over Mary and moving on, still, the second she saw Sara things had felt a lot less desperate and she had found that Sara's shy smile was all too hard to ignore. She had a feeling Gwen would be showing off if she ever found out.

Just finished rewatching up through S5. This is set near the end of it.



They're fighting (do they ever do anything else these days?) and Lex is saying something about staying away from Lana, and Clark just wants to scream, "Don't you get that's not what this about at all?" Instead, he kisses him, more to shut him up than anything else. It's quick, and when Clark pulls back, Lex is gaping at him, words utterly stolen.

It's all Clark can do to walk away at normal speed, until he's sufficiently out of sight that he can get the hell out of there.

He doesn't hear a word from Lex for a week, not till he shows up at the loft.

"Lana and I talked," Lex starts.

Clark can't make himself look at Lex, so he stares out at the stars.

"Clark, you have to stop accusing me every time something goes wrong around here," Lex says, easing around to sit next to Clark.

"Even when I'm right?" Clark asks, in a half-joking tone.

Lex sighs, but doesn't deny it. "This would probably be a lot easier if we could be honest with each other."

There's nothing Clark can think to say to that that isn't tainted by the history between them.

"Then again, maybe we can just agree to work on that," Lex says.

Clark nods. "I'd like that," he says, quietly, and it's the most truthful he thinks he's ever been. He turns to Lex, finally. This time, it's Lex that closes the gap between them.

This time, it feels like the start of something, instead of the end.
