Friday | Names in Common
Jul. 5th, 2013 12:05 amHello, Shetan here~! Hope it’s been a good week for you. ^_^ I must bid you farewell, my dear fellows, but not until after I explain this idea that I devised just for today. On my birthday. ♫
Today's theme: names in common. It’s just how it sounds: pick a name, any name, and write a short nonspecific idea to go along with it because... every prompt today is author’s choice. You can pick 2 common names for 1 prompt and include the option of a crossover. (More than 2 names would be too difficult for the writer... and probably give away where you got them. XP;)
If you’re writing a fill, the name doesn’t have to be exactly what you see: we all know names can have alternate spellings, fall under different categories (nicknames, full names, given, family), or be ambiguous (male, female, unisex). All that matters is that mental click of inspiration.
A reminder of the rules:
Also, for the sake of our fantastic coders, please remember to use the proper format for prompts.
Examples:
If the plot bunnies aren’t attacking you today, don't forget to check out our archive of Lonely Prompts.
For more recent prompts to write (and fills to read), you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
I hope all of you have had fun this week. I sure as hell have. ♥

A reminder of the rules:
+ No more than five prompts in a row
+ No more than three prompts per fandom
+ If one or more of your prompts is filled today, then you may prompt again
+ No spoilers within prompts until a week after the airdate/release
+ Warn for spoilers in bold and leave at least three spaces before the text
Also, for the sake of our fantastic coders, please remember to use the proper format for prompts.
Examples:
For a single fandom:
author’s choice, Sora, blue and gray
author’s choice, Setsuna, view from above
For (possibly) multiple fandoms / crossovers:
author’s choice (crossover), John + John, you get used to it
author’s choice (crossover), James + or / Mike, strawberries and peaches

Date: 2013-07-06 03:45 am (UTC)"How the hell is this happening again?!" John demands, punching the goon in the throat and moving on.
"Eh, you get used to it," McClane says, slamming a chair into another goon's head. "C'mon, kid, let's go get your daughter."
McClane knows the layout of the building better than John, so John follows him, swearing that Emily is never going anywhere ever again.

Date: 2013-07-05 05:24 am (UTC)author's choice, Ben, dreaming
American Horror Story, Ben + Tate [S1 finale spoilers]
Date: 2013-07-05 02:01 pm (UTC)"You okay, Dr. Harmon?" a male voice asks in the dark.
Just great. Tate Langdon, the last person on Earth he wanted to see right now, was looking at him with genuine concern. Or as genuine as concern can look on the face of a psychopath.
"This is stupid. I thought ghosts didn't dream" Ben replies, shoving off the helping hand the boy offers him.
"Apparently, we do" he explains. "I don't understand it very well, though. You should ask Nora."
"Nora's completely lost her mind" he reminds him. "Just leave me alone, will you?"
Ben gets up, settled on looking for his precious wife Viv. She wouldn't have any answers as to why he kept dreaming of the day he was killed in the damn house, but at least she'd give him the comfort he needs right now.
Tate watches him go, remembering his own dreams. He used to dream about the day he died before he could assume the fact that he was dead. Maybe that was what was happening to Dr. Harmon... somehow.
He followed him. It didn't matter if he hated him, or if he called him a psychopath. When he was alive, Ben had been one of the few who did try to help him -at least before he was, you know, dead and stuff- and now it was his turn to give back. At least he owed him that much.

Date: 2013-07-05 05:26 am (UTC)author's choice (crossover?), Jack ( + Jack), some things are hereditary
Fill: Pirates of the Carribean/Doctor Who, Captain Jack Sparrow + Captain Jack Harkness
Date: 2013-07-05 08:21 am (UTC)If a certain Time Agent happens to have what basically amounts to an immortal dad, well, the Bad Wolf can rest easy that it wasn't entirely her fault what happened to her Jack. The potential was already there in his genes.

Date: 2013-07-05 07:43 pm (UTC)Nathan walked from the twelfth precinct set, clearly planning on getting to his trailer for a nap of unknown time until he was called up for the next scene. He waltzed through the doors...
And into something that looked like a high tech office.
“Whoa,” he gasped, looking around. He wanted to pick up a paperweight that was right next to a glowing set in screen on a tabletop. He decided to look at the screen instead, reading something about an Artifact. He thought, there were several files up and he barely caught the gist of what he was reading.
“You have a minute to tell me why you're in my office?” a voice demanded.
He quickly spun around and saw a guy standing at the top of some stairs. The suit was sharp, clearly tailored, and the scruff made him looked distinguished? Nah, that isn't something Castle would say. Rugged? “It's now fifty seconds and I will call security before having you arrested for breaking and entering.”
“How could I have broke and entered when I don't even know where I am?” he pointed out, feeling a little clever. “Seriously, I was walking from set to my trailer when I just got here.” He looked around again and moved to the windows to look down. “This is cool. Watching all the people moving down there. Too bad you can open the windows and randomly throw things,” he commented.
Set and trailer. “Movie?” he inquired.
He turned back to him. “TV show,” he informed.
“Which one?”
“Castle,” he told him. The other man's name was blank. “Richard Castle, famous author that gets paired up with a gorgeous female detective and solves crimes.”
“You're Richard Castle?” he asked, not believing him.
“I play Richard Castle in a TV show called Castle,” he corrected.
Frustrated, he opened up a line of communication. “Fargo, I need someone to escort....”
“Nathan Fillion,” he filled in.
“Right. This man down to medical before handing him over to security.” The man claims to be an actor on a TV show called Castle, playing Richard Castle. Even if alternate universes exist... And I thought the Artifact acting up was strange. Well, it still is stranger than this.
“Fargo?” he questioned, the odd name tugging. “Wait, I'm in Eureka? In Global Dynamics? Oh, this is awesome.” The elevator opened and the young man Nathan Stark, Nathan Stark, the guy they based off of Tony Stark, the Director of this place, this is cool coolcoolcoolcoolcool had called up walked in.
“Wait, is that Richard Castle?” he asked, staring at him.
Adam and Zach are going to be jealous. I wonder if I could actually meet Castle.
Re: Fill: So would Neil
Date: 2013-07-06 04:06 pm (UTC)*smiles* RPF isn't really my thing, no. I'm not offended, it just makes me feel weird to be writing/reading about real people as though they were characters.
This was kind of fascinating, though. It is the kind of thing you wonder about sometimes, actually being transported to a show universe and how you'd deal with it. Heh.
Thanks for the fill!
Re: Fill: So would Neil
Date: 2013-07-06 11:41 pm (UTC)I would have completely chosen a fake character, but I could think of another one and Nathan Fillion popped in my head to talk with Stark.
I want to fall into the Warehouse. I would be walking up and down the aisles just looking, and avoiding Artie.
You're welcome. Thanks for not immediately dismissing it.
Re: Fill: So would Neil
Date: 2013-07-06 11:52 pm (UTC)And I'd probably do a total Claudia on it and end up magnetised to the ceiling -_-; But hey, they'd probably rescue me, right?
Heh. Thank you again.
Re: Fill: So would Neil
Date: 2013-07-07 01:41 am (UTC)Yeah, they would, then they would have to find some way of erasing your memory or getting you back. I would just hide a few times until they gave up.
