Still
gladdecease, still hosting! Today we right fictional wrongs, through fix-it fics. Reverse a death, a divorce, a distasteful plot twist - or explain it all away! (She was a double agent the whole time! ~*~mind control~*~ He's just in an alien coma!) You name it, somebody else has already done it in a canon somewhere - and as such your prompts can certainly be about such canon fix-its too. Just have fun with it!

Date: 2013-08-01 10:26 pm (UTC)Not like any of the versions of him she'd imagined during those moments when she allowed herself to believe they hadn't buried him ten years ago.
(She's the one with the occasional dream. What if...? If only...? Roy won't let himself regret anything.)
"I assume you'll want an explanation." His glasses glint under the overhead light. It’s difficult to look at him in the eye, but Riza forces herself to.
Their mission is over. Even if it should have never been theirs. A clerical mistake. Some newbie putting the wrong name in the wrong form. Or perhaps that’s just the scapegoat version. Perhaps someone wanted to have Amestris’ best sniper and best intelligence agent together again.
And to hell with a decade of moving on.
Never mind that she loathes lying, even as she steels herself into pretending she never saw her lover’s best friend again.
Riza shook her head. “Someone forced you, of course,” she clipped out.
She could imagine it. As badly hurt as the homunculus had left him - and that had to be true; the bastard had taunted them with their friend’s death, after all - it would have been easy to cart him away and alchemize his features into another body. She wondered which alchemist had done the work. None that would have dared bring the news to Roy, that was for sure.
He lifted a shoulder. “Took me by surprise.”
It would have. “Thank you,” she said. Meaning it.
He doesn’t ask what she’s grateful about. He is the best. Reaching out to them would have been a child’s game. They would have gone to his rescue. They would have lost the war, to save a friend. Or they would have lost a bit of themselves, if they’d ignored his cry for help.
Hughes had not given them a choice.
Even if he’d lost everything with that decision.
“It’s okay.” He smiled. “I was there, you know.”
“When?”
His smirk flashed. “When it mattered.”
She smiled back. There might be no way to fix this. There might always be a little girl without a father, a man missing his best friend. But not everything was lost. That mattered, too. “I’m glad.”
And she was.

Date: 2013-08-01 07:46 pm (UTC)"It got you back, didn't it?" Jim said, raising the glass of bourbon to his mouth. They sat before the fireplace in Jim's apartment. "Sometimes the needs of the one..."
"That is not, as you know, the correct phrase."
Sighing, Jim sat back on the couch. "Can't you just say 'thank you'?"
Spock shook his head. "I do not understand why you would undertake such a journey, to sacrifice both the ship and your career."
"Don't you?" Jim said. "An incorporeal being made me do it."
Spock raised an eyebrow. "An incorporeal being?"
"Yes, well," Jim said. "Your katra was in Bones's head. You were, as a matter of fact, incorporeal at the time."
"My katra resided in Dr. McCoy's body," Spock reminded him. "Therefore, I was, indeed, corporeal by definition."
"Well, it wasn't your body," Jim countered. "You told me to get you to Mount Seleya, so I did."
"And you were forced to destroy the Enterprise."
"Yes," Jim admitted.
"David was also killed."
Jim lowered his eyes. "He was."
"I grieve with thee."
"Thank you," Jim said. Spock was quiet for several minutes, watching the fire flickering, the patterns it cast on the floor.
"You are certain your actions had nothing to do with personal motivation?" Spock asked, raising his eyes.
"Well, perhaps," Jim said. He raised his glass in salute.
"I am pleased to be in your company again," Spock said. He very nearly smiled, and he held out a hand. Jim did smile and clasped it.
"That makes two of us, Mr. Spock."

Date: 2013-08-02 05:45 am (UTC)Lucifer leaves after several long moments, not even bothering to close the doppelganger's staring eyes. Wrapped in shadows and hidden from even angelic sight, Gabriel sighs and then turns to look at the figure standing next to him.
"Will it be worth it?" he asks. "My death?"
The figure nods. "Yes," is the reply as the illusion fades away, leaving only the bloodstained carpet behind. "It will be the push the Winchesters need to find the rest of the rings of the Horsemen. You'll come back." A calculating tilt of the head and then a small smile. "In about four years' time. We can make a big show of it, if you want."
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Gabriel says with a chuckle. He pauses and then looks sideways at the figure. "I've got to ask..."
"Yes?"
"Why the scruffy get up?"
A glance downwards at the well-worn jeans and washed-out t-shirt, and then a beatific smile. "Because," God says as the hotel fades away into nothingness, "no one questions the clothes of the man holding all the cards."
