Friday - Here be Monsters
Aug. 23rd, 2013 05:30 amGood morning, it's Friday, and my last day filling in. I’m
evil_little_dog and hope you've enjoyed this week's prompts. My final theme Movie Monsters! Prompts should have some relation to movie monsters, whether involving traditional monsters, those from our favorite SyFy bad movie nights, or Leatherface!
The rules still haven't changed:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
No spoilers in prompts.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.
Prompts should be formatted as follows:
Fandom, Character+/Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
- Burn Notice, Good guy ensemble, They've dealt with hurricanes, drug dealers, and the CIA, but they weren't really prepared for Sharknado.
- The X-files, Scully+Mulder, "Godzilla. We're investigating Godzilla?"
- Leverage, Eliot/Parker/Hardison, Parker loves cuddling up to watch horror movies
- Fullmetal Alchemist, The Risembool Trio, Haunted house.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Visit the lonely prompt archive and brighten someone’s day. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.

Date: 2013-08-23 04:42 pm (UTC)When you're a spy, you have to know how to fight them when they're flying through the air.
That's why it's always handy to have some duct tape, a blow torch, and if you can get it, some C4.
It also helps if you have an ex-Navy Seal who can hold his breath for three minutes and swim up the sharknado to tape the explosives to a shark and spread some accelerant around the waterspout. At that point, it's just a matter of lighting it up and getting out of the way.
Of course, sometimes there are too many sharknadoes to handle each of them individually. But a good spy knows that sometimes, the only thing that can take down a man-eating sea beast is a bigger man-eating sea beast.
Which is why it's always nice if your girlfriend has a hacker friend who knows a smuggler who knows a merman mercenary who knows some giant squids.
I know a Squid-urricane sounds like its a bad thing. But when you're dealing with really, really sharp teeth, sometimes it's your only option. Mix one Giant Squid-urricane with a bunch of flying sharks, get everyone to a nice dry hiding place, and you're good to go.
You just have to hope that when the weather clears, nothing finds its way into your swimming pool.

"Mister Reese, I'm closing in on your position," Finch's voice called over Reese's earpiece.
"Finch, I told you to get out of here: he's got me boxed in between two coffins," Reese replied, resigned to his fate.
"Have you been shooting at him?"
"No, I've been tossing garlic cloves at him," Reese replied, sarcastically.

Date: 2015-01-24 05:51 am (UTC)“I don't know.”
“Darcy,” Jason said, lifting up her head. “If someone hurt you, if they scared you, if they so much as looked at you funny, they'd answer to me. You don't need to be scared.”
“Sometimes I get scared for you,” she said, and Jason frowned. “I saw you on the news again. It wasn't funny or sweet. Not this time. It was just messed up. You and Dick almost died.”
“We've had worse.”
“Not helping.”
He laughed, combing through her hair. “Neither of us has a normal life. You're an assistant to a woman who goes to other planets with guys who are supposedly gods. I'm back from the dead and half-insane and—”
“You are so much more than that. And you are not allowed to die again.”
“That settles it,” Jason said, shifting in his seat. She looked at him suspiciously. He smiled. “I figured you'd get around to saying you just wanted an excuse to snuggle with me.”
She grinned. “If I wanted that, I could just tase you.”
“You could,” he began, but the rest of what he would have said was drowned out by her scream as the monster appeared on screen and she jumped. He wrapped his arm around her. “Don't worry. I'll protect you.”
“I can do that myself. I have a taser.”
“I know. I'm not afraid of it.”
“I know,” she said, snuggling against him. “I love you.”

Avengers Movieverse Fill: The Monster You See
Date: 2013-08-26 05:12 pm (UTC)Natasha Romanova, whom he had called things unforgivable, had taken to driving to his apartment/cell/holding house each weekend, laying one knife on the table beside her, and drinking vodka while he brooded. Thor would say it was amazing the god let her play metaphorical Russian roulette in her own, very Russian way, but there was no luck to it. She owed him a debt. Not one he would wish her to repay.
She merely quirked a brow at him, lifted her glass, and sipped the amber fluid.
“My childhood spat back out the monster that you see.” Loki had reasons for his weaknesses, of that she was certain. But she was also certain that they were weaknesses.
Her eyebrow smoothed out again. Natasha shrugged. She mentally noted the constant tick of red digits flying past in her mental ledger.
Loki laughed at her. “You think my reasons unworthy.” His laughter turned to a dark, angry scowl. “You are just like them.” His family.
Natasha set down her vodka and met him with a cold gaze. “My childhood spat back out the monster that you see.” She picked up her vodka and downed the last of it, then stood and waited for one moment, for two.
He stared at her, startled and furious, and she waited for his magic powers to reach out and strike her, but then he leaned back and said, “Didn’t you like my present?”
Clint. He was talking about Clint.
She had received such presents before.
The Black Widow tilted her head at him and considered yet again an appropriate sentence for his crimes, and yet came up against Thor yet again and the older brother’s urgent need to redeem Loki. There was one answer that balanced both, perfectly, but it was very Russian and the one solution she found distasteful to implement.
She mentally noted the constant tick of red flying past the back of her vision. Red Room. Red blood. Red. How many times had they written her in red?
Natasha answered, “I will return an appropriate thank you soon.”
She stepped out into the cool New York afternoon and tucked her knife back into its hidden sheath. Soon.

Date: 2013-08-23 01:22 pm (UTC)Teen Wolf, Derek/Stiles (Spoilers if you haven't seen 3x12!)
Date: 2013-08-23 10:38 pm (UTC)"What am I?"
Derek looks up from the ancient book with an unpronounceable title that he was focused on and faces the scrawny teenager.
"A nuisance, most of the time."
Stiles rolls his eyes, sitting up on his chair, forgetting for a moment the extensive research going on in his computer.
Saving Chris, Melissa and the Sheriff ended up with Beacon Hills turning into a supernatural magnet -even more than it already was- and so Stiles found himself on research duty pretty much on a daily basis. Derek's company didn't really make the work easier either.
However, despite the snarky comebacks (and the ones he could already foresee), Stiles insisted with his question.
"You know what I mean. What you said, when you got back..."
Derek raises an eyebrow, as if questioning his words. "That we, all of us, we are pack?"
"Yeah, that" Stiles nodded. "You included Allison, and Lydia, and me. Sure, Allison's a werewolf hunter, and Lydia's... something. So, what am I? Why did you include me too?"
Derek puts the ancient volume down for a moment in order to compose an actual question. Despite his continues questions, Derek had to admit that the human boy never ceased to amaze him.
"Because, as annoying as you can be" Stiles made a face and Derek avoided grinning at it, "you're still pack."
"But how does that work?" Stiles continues even before he could attempt to grab the tome again. "I mean, what does that make me?"
"It makes you nothing. Just, you know, one of us."
"So what, am I like a Beta? An Omega?"
Derek sighs, exhasperated. "You're not a werewolf, Stiles."
"I know that, thank you very much" Stiles replies, giving a 'well, duh' look. "I mean, from what I researched when Scott was bit, packs have this... way of working. Like a structure. I mean, you know that, obviously. What does that make me in our pack? What am I in the pac-"
Derek silences him with a kiss.
It's fast, and ends quickly. The werewolf presses his lips roughly against Stiles' thin mouth, making him quiver for a moment before settling for silence. As always, it worked in effectively silencing him.
"There are no special... ways in our pack. We're family, in case you didn't realize that. But you can always place yourself as my mate."
He gives him an amused look when he realizes Stiles' struggling to come with a smartass retort, but is unable to do so. Instead, he turns around and returns his attention to the computer. Derek doesn't even have to look at him to know there's a slight blush on his white cheeks.
It takes about ten minutes, when Derek's lost in his reading again, for Stiles to make one final comment.
"I wouldn't really mind that."

Date: 2013-08-23 02:33 pm (UTC)Dexter/The Vampire Diaries
Date: 2013-08-24 02:27 am (UTC)He knows he should run, but for one, he doesn't think he'll get very far.
Then there's the fact that he can't stop staring at the blood dripping off the face of the man, no, demon, in front of him. He's killed so many, but he's never understood the word monster until right now. In some sick way, he thinks it might be the most beautiful thing he's ever seen.
The monster is staring back at him, amused at Dexter's reaction, or contemplating making Dexter its next meal. Or both.
He's going to die tonight. He knew it would happen someday, but he was hoping Harrison would be older, at least.
The monster approaches him, and Dexter wishes he could feel the cold steel of a knife in his hand. At least he could go out trying.
"You want this, don't you?" the monster says.
Dexter has no idea how to answer that, not quite sure what the question is. "We share a ... fascination," he finally manages.
The monster cocks its head. Then its eyes go dark, and it bites into its arm. A second later, Dexter is choking, unable to do anything but swallow the rich, coppery blood spilling down his throat. The monster lets him go, and he doubles over, coughing.
"When you wake up, you're going to be starving," the monster says. "I have no doubt you can figure that part out. If I were you, though, I'd get out of the sun first or you'll render this whole exercise completely pointless."
Before he can properly digest that, the monster's hands are cradling his face. "Trust me," the monster says, "The whole blood thing? It's so much better this way."
He feels the snap of his neck breaking, and everything goes dark.

Small Fill
Date: 2013-08-24 11:17 am (UTC)"I am aware of that, John," Sherlock murmured, not looking up from the mess on the kitchen table that he was examining with scalpel and... things that had likely been liberated from the Morgue without anyone's knowing.
"Then why don't you clean up after your experiments? We can't have people over, or even eat - or prepare food in there, anymore," John pointed out.
"Why not?" Sherlock asked, placing ... something ... into a petri dish.
"Because it's unhygienic, Sherlock," John replied in that tone of voice reserved especially for small children who keep asking "why" after you've actually given the fullest explanation possible already and are now just humouring them.
"I disagree. I use industry-standard cleaning solutions to ensure no common, everyday bacteria can interfere with my experiments. It's perfectly hygienic."
"You keep human organs in the fridge! I nearly drank an eye last week! It's like living with Dr Frankenstein. Or his servant. Or his monster," John added darkly.
"Ah. I was wondering what had happened to that eye. You tasted it, and replaced it in the fridge. You do realise that is very unhygienic? You complain about me doing that with the milk."
John slapped his palm across his eyes. "I can't win."
