Today's prompt is: First Times.

It's pretty obvious I have a theme, of sorts, going on this week but this doesn't have to be a first time in the romantic/sexual sense of a kiss, hand holding or sex. It could also be the first time someone killed someone, jumped out of plane, left home, drove a car... you decide and then prompt away.

Some simple rules:
+No more than five prompts in a row.
+No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
+If one of your prompts is filled, feel free to prompt again.
+No spoilers in the prompts.
+If your fill contains spoilers please warn and/or leave at least three spaces.

Format for prompts:
Fandom, Character, Prompt
Fandom, Character/Character, Prompt

Examples:

Ripper Street, Drake/Jackson, the first time they have sex when they're sober
Person of Interest, Reese/Finch, a first kiss is not to be rushed
Man from UNCLE, Illya/Napoleon, First mission

Not really your thing? Why not try to fill one of the lonely prompts instead?

tag=first times

The first time Clint Barton picked up a bow, it was like everything had he’d ever wanted. The wood felt perfect in his hand as he ran his hand down the curve of the bow, settling his hand in the grip. The bow itself was almost as big as his six year old self and he struggled a little to draw the string. Draw it he did though and he looked up at Trickshot for approval.

The circus archer didn’t give it, but simply drew an arrow from his quiver and handed it over. “Well, you’ve drawn it, boy. Let’s see what you can do with this.”

Clint took the arrow from him, rolling it around in his fingers for a few minutes before setting it against the arrow rest. He fumbled for a moment before he was able to draw the string with the arrow readied.

“Take the shot, boy,” Trickshot goaded him.

Clint took a deep breath before releasing the arrow, cheering as it flew straight and true, sinking into the bull’s-eye.

Trickshot snatched the bow out of Clint’s hands. “Lucky shot, boy,” he growled. He stamped off, leaving Clint to stare at the target.

“I did that,” Clint whispered. “I did that.”

Very intriguing. I like the imagery of Clint rolling the the arrow.

Glad you enjoyed it. My Clint is almost always very tactile and rolling the arrow lets him get a feel of the weight and the way it will fly. It's also something I've done in the past and something a friend who competition shot always did when he was presented with a new arrow. So just a carryover. :-)

It sounded very knowledgeable. It's literally been decades since I've picked up a bow for shooting, but I did recognize what he was doing, and why.

I can sound knowledgeable. I talk to a friend who still shoots frequently. It's been almost 2 decades since I shot with any regularity. But I miss it. *grins* I'm glad it makes sense to other archers.
