WEDNESDAY: BOOK TITLES
May. 7th, 2014 09:15 amHappy Hump Day! I’m
mahmfic and today's theme is book titles. The prompt should be the title of a book.
The rules still haven't changed:
• No more than five prompts in a row.
• No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
• No spoilers in prompts.
• If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.
Prompts should be formatted as follows:
Fandom, Character+/Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
• The Hobbit RPF, Dean/Aidan, King of Dublin
• Sherlock BBC, John/Any, Not Another Soldier
• Cabin Pressure, Douglas, Stories I Only Tell My Friends
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Visit the lonely prompt archive and brighten someone’s day. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.

Date: 2014-11-09 01:00 pm (UTC)"I understood that you worked alone," Grey complained after noticing John.
That earned one of Sherlock's eye rolls.
"Why is this man here?" Grey tried again.
Sherlock exhaled noisily. "It's better than Afghanistan."
"It is," John agreed simply, enjoying the way the man's forehead wrinkled as he worked this out.
"Oh. Another soldier."
Sherlock's disdainful look dwarfed Grey's attempt. "He's Dr. Watson."
He's mine, he might as well have said.
John liked that tone.

Date: 2014-11-08 04:48 am (UTC)Penny's fingers sifted through his short hair as they kissed, and Leonard felt his grip on her hips grow tighter as he pictured her cherry-red nails.
"Mmm," Penny said, squirming a little.
Leonard first thought she was complaining at the rough touch, but instead she kissed his ear. "Are we feeling playful today? Perhaps a little... wicked?"
Leonard gulped. Oh. One of those moods. "Y-yes," he agreed, then coughed to strengthen his voice. "Very wicked." Penny let her teeth graze against his skin and Leonard had to remind himself to keep his grip strong. "Very, very wicked... yes, that, please?"

Date: 2014-11-08 07:22 am (UTC)Regina felt as much regard for striding uninvited into the pawnshop as she'd ever done when visiting Rumpelstiltskin's castle. She'd thought to keep her own counsel, and had restrained herself for days after she'd seen the announcement on the paper. But in the end the temptation had proved too much to resist. She couldn't be the only villain who'd had her happy ending so close at hand before it was taken away. Of course she wouldn't be! And it would feel so good to rub in that she'd warned him, once everything fell apart.
And fall apart, it would.

Date: 2014-11-10 11:26 pm (UTC)Finally. Finally. So many decades - centuries! - with only glimpses. So many years fretting that Regina would turn away from vengeance and leave him to start all over again. But no. Of course not. She was meant to use his curse. Even if Rumpelstiltskin had never crossed her path, her heart would still be the black broken mess she's carries around.
Stubborn Regina. Vengeful Regina. Gorgeous, twisted little girl!
She can have her little whims as long as she takes him across worlds. Let her bring the chaos she dreams of. Let her enslave them all!
She was meant to, anyway.

Date: 2014-05-08 04:46 pm (UTC)The alarm was blaring and Natasha fumbled out of the covers after finally realizing her partner wasn’t going to get it. She had to almost crawl over him to turn it off. Clint was still asleep.
She stared at him for a long moment, feeling betrayed that he would trust her enough to not get up himself. He should stay wary, on guard. Both of them were assassins, for crying out loud. Natasha set her foot against his rib cage and shoved.
“Whoa! J—, Tasha!” Clint shot out of the tangle of covers on the floor and glared at her. “What was that for?”
“Your alarm clock was going off for eleven minutes,” she informed him flatly, then crossed her arms, wondering how he was going to wrangle himself out of this one. She was off-duty for the next two days. Clint wasn’t and it was his apartment. That alarm had been set for him.
Clint merely picked up the clock and groaned when he saw the time. “I’m going to take a shower. Then coffee.”
Natasha sighed as he disappeared into the bathroom and went to make sure there was coffee to be had. She held the pot hostage when he came to get it.
He gave her a look. He should have known she wouldn’t just drop it and maybe he had known but hoped he’d manage anyway to get out of giving her a straight answer.
“It’s nothing, Nat.” But he skipped the coffee, grabbed a bagel, and headed out the door to SHIELD.
She stared after him in absolute disbelief.
2. Medical
When Natasha went down to the range, Clint wasn’t there. She double-checked the gym, but he wasn’t there either. If he wasn’t on a mission (and he wasn’t), there were few places Clint would be at this hour, so she decided to check in with Coulson.
“He’s down in medical getting a check-up,” Coulson replied mildly. “He should be done within the hour if he cooperates.”
Since cooperation with medical depended largely on the degree of injury, she felt it was not overstepping her bounds to go check on him herself. She wanted her sparring partner and the sooner he cooperated, the sooner she could have him back.
But Clint was cooperating. He was sitting in an uncomfortable, tiny, hard-backed waiting room chair filling out interminable reams of paperwork as dutifully as if he were Phil Coulson or Maria Hill rather than Clint Barton, former carnie and general hater of all things medical or paperwork.
“Clint.” She wanted to say a lot of things. What are you doing? Why so well-behaved? What is wrong with you? Instead she said his name and let the rest fall silently between them as he looked back up at her.
He knew her well, better than almost anyone else. He knew her well enough to know all the questions she wasn’t asking. “Sorry I wasn’t in the gym.” He bent his head and finished filling out a sheet, then tucked it under the bottom of the stack. “Gotta turn these in.”
It struck her with an unexpected pang. He didn’t want her to see them. She sat down in the chair next to his, mood suddenly dark.
He settled in the chair beside her and bumped her shoulder. “Nat. It’s nothing.”
He’d said that before with… coffee. Three days ago. She frowned at him.
“I’ll be done in a few minutes.”
She nodded. The sooner he got out of medical, the sooner she could wipe the floor with him. In her current frame of mind, he’d be complaining about bruises until their next op.

“He could have just tripped and fallen down the stairs.”
“Look at that penguin. From its condition it has to be a favourite toy, which wouldn’t have been left right at the top of the stairs.”
“Kids do that.”
“But in this case the child has gone to bed and would have wanted the penguin. If it had been lost earlier the mother would have looked for it and could hardly have failed to find it had it been there. No, she took it once the child was asleep and attempted to make the fall look like an accident.”
