Thursday: Clichés
May. 22nd, 2014 12:01 amHello, everyone. I’m
kryss_delrhei, pinch-hitting for the week and today's theme is clichés. If you are unfamiliar with them, clichés are phrases or expressions that have been used so often that are no longer original. Let's renew the life in all those old clichés!!
If you are having trouble thinking of clichés, I found a list over at clichesite.com.
The rules still haven't changed:
- No more than five prompts in a row.
- No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
- No spoilers in prompts.
- If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.
Prompts should be formatted as follows:
Fandom, Character+/Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
- Lost Girl, Bo + Kenzi, All bets are off
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy, fancy meeting you here
- Supernatural, Dean + Sam, toot his own horn
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Visit the lonely prompt archive and brighten someone’s day. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.

Date: 2014-05-23 04:06 am (UTC)As Scotty walked back to his quarters, he wondered about what lay ahead. Not unlike Kirk, he just managed to get out of his grounding but faced the possibility of being sent back to that frozen hellhole. Worse, he'd probably be assigned a new partner since Keenser had stayed behind (thus staying out of a protocol-defying miracle). He had a glimpse of the starship life. It had only been for a few days, but it was enough. After traveling too many miles just to be grounded, he relished the few thousand or so they needed to get home. Between the challenges in the engine room and being surrounded by so many (young) officers, Scotty felt alive for the first time in months. Returning to Earth seemed like a bit of a letdown after that. At least he had a little time before the brass handed down the orders that would determine his future in Starfleet (at least for the short term).
"Mister Scott!"
Scotty glanced around and found Chekov striding toward him. He smiled and waved at the young man.
"Oi, Chekov. Been enjoying the break?"
Chekov shrugged. "It's nice to have time off, but I wish to go back up. It can be hard to not go crazy of boredom right now."
"Aye, understandable. I was actually about to grab lunch. Care to join me?"
"That sounds good. I could definitely eat."
At that, Scotty chuckled. "I was also hoping to discuss an article I read on research into new materials for our engines since dilithium is so rare and difficult to mine."
Chekov's eyes lit up. "I read that! It's quite interesting, but I don't know how they would be able to integrate any new materials into zhe engines we have currently have."
"I'm not sure. Why don't we discuss it further over some food? I could go for a salmon sandwich, myself."
"Lead the way."
As they walked, Scotty realized for all his traveling in Starfleet he finally had something that has been lacking for many years: a friend who understands and appreciates his passions.
