Date: 2014-05-24 09:10 pm (UTC)"Then don't."
Natasha purses her lips together as she tugs on the needle, stitching up the gash beneath Steve's rib where Bucky accidentally slashed him in the throes of a nightmare. "I thought you confiscated all of those."
Steve doesn't say anything. He did - does - every time he finds a knife under Bucky's mattress or tucked under his pillow he takes it, puts it some place safe, but Bucky doesn't like being unarmed and they always find their way back to him. Steve can't really blame him.
"Steve," she sighs. "He's not getting better."
Steve frowns and looks away from her. "I thought you weren't going to say it."
"Someone has to."
They're quiet for a moment as Nat finishes stitching him up.
"You're wrong." He says, because she is. She just...is.
Nat just looks at him, this sad, almost pitying look on her face. "He's going to kill you one of these times."
"No," Steve says, glancing across the room at Bucky. He's just sitting on the couch, still as stone, his shaggy hair concealing half his face. If Steve could see him, his eyes would still be sunken and dark rimmed, lifeless. He barely recognizes his old friend in them anymore.
"No," he says again, firmly, choking back emotion he's not ready to admit to yet. "He won't. It's not in him."
Natasha looks at him like she doesn't believe him, like she doesn't think Steve even believes himself. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. It doesn't matter.
He doesn't have a choice.

Date: 2014-05-24 01:30 pm (UTC)Fill: Years from Now (warehouse 13, Pete x Myka)
Date: 2014-05-24 08:37 pm (UTC)Any, any/any, one year from now, five years from now, 10 years from now, 25 years from now
One year from now, exactly three hundred and sixty five days since the day he thought he was going to lose everything which turned out to be the day that he found everything he ever wanted, Pete asks Myka to marry him. He has it all planned, has the ring and everything, but he's impatient and can't wait and ends up doing it sans ring, in an aisle of the Warehouse, at the end of a disastrous day when they're both covered in purple goo.
Because she's good with dates, Myka knows the significance of this one and she laughs and cries a little at the same time and says yes.
Five years from now, they leave the Warehouse for the last time. It's not like it was the day Pete thought he was going to lose everything; on the contrary, he's gaining more than he's ever felt he deserved. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't going to miss it though and when he steps outside, he can feel a lump in his throat.
Myka, on the other hand, has tears running unchecked down her cheeks and is already on her second pack of tissues. He pulls her close to him - not easy to do with a six month baby bump in the way - and kisses the top of her head. "It's gonna be fine," he tells her and she nods into his chest.
"Stupid hormones," he hears her mutter and he doesn't need Steve to let him know that that's not entirely true.
"Come on," he says, leading her to the car. "Let's go home."
Ten years from now, they have an almost five year old who is as brainy as her mom, a two year old who's as rambunctious as his dad and in a fit of insanity, they're considering trying for number three. It's a consideration that gets put on hold when dinner with Grandma Jane takes a strange turn when the kids have gone to bed, when there's a knock at the door and Mr Kozan is there.
Offering Myka a job as a Regent is a bolt from the blue and her first impulse is to refuse. It's Pete, though, who talks her into it a few days later, because he knows she's the best person for the job. "I've got your back," he tells her, not for the first time and he still means it.
Her smile when she nods is still the most beautiful thing he's ever seen.
Twenty five years from now, Leena Lattimer walks into her college dorm room and stops dead at the sight of the woman before her. "Why are you here?" she demands, eschewing a formal greeting. "Has something happened to Mom or Dad?"
Claudia shakes her head and smiles. "I need to talk to you, Leena... about a world of endless wonder..."

fill (drabble)
Date: 2014-11-06 05:36 am (UTC)In the beginning he's bound to Saya's service, the little mouse tossed in the cat's path, to see if the cat will discover the pleasure of the hunt. But instead they learn to trust each other, and when his feelings change, Hagi has no idea what to say.
Now he wants to reassure her that she is still beloved, that Diva's treachery wasn't her fault. But Saya won't welcome soft words, so instead he lets her grip his hand so tightly that his palm would be slashed to ribbons, if not for his new skin.
Actions talk louder, after all.

Date: 2014-05-26 01:21 am (UTC)“Are you out of your damn mind?” Bucky spun around, his hands buried in his hair and his eyes wide at the fact that Steve just jumped three stories down to the roof where Bucky was station at with a rifle. It didn’t matter that Steve jumped the three stories because Bucky had a two hostiles on his six and did not hear them. No that didn’t matter. Jesus, fuck. What was Steve thinking? Three stories could have killed him.
Steve just stared at Bucky from where he was dusting the rooftop gravel from his knees with a grimace. The grimace grew once he spotted blood and Steve knew Bucky was about to blow a gasket in three, two, one.
“Is that blood?!” Bucky’s hand froze mid-process of dismantling the rifle. He dropped the gun carelessly to the ground and stomped over towards Steve. He dropped to a crouch in front of Steve and batted the man’s hands away. He reached into the pocket of his slacks and came up empty so he went for his tie next. Pulling the knot loose with angry hands. He smacked Steve’s hand away before wiping at the wound with the underside of his tie. “Thank god this is a cheap tie otherwise I’d be pissed. And I thought your cargoes all had ‘reinforced knees’ or some shit so this wouldn’t happen all the time. I think you’re so full of shit sometimes. Seriously Steve? You’re lucky you just skinned and bruised the hell out of your knees. That could have been a lot worse. Did you think about that? A broken ankle, a fracture leg? Any of that cross your mind when you were falling through three stories worth of air? No! It didn’t.”
Steve cut Bucky off in mid rant as he bent down so they were face to face with each other. He grabbed Steve’s hands with one of his and the other he used to guide Bucky’s face towards the two men who were sprawled out in handcuffs and bleeding profusely. “I would do it again if that meant I got to listen to you scream and yell at me like this again.”
Bucky leaned back until he fell backwards onto his butt, his hands buried in his hair once more. “You just scare me sometimes.”
“You think I wasn’t scared when I saw those two coming up behind you and you gave no indication of hearing them?” Steve took a deep breath before sitting down next to Bucky. “I nearly lost you once. I’m not going to lose you again.”
Bucky rolled his eyes before bumping shoulders with Steve and reached a hand out, his prosthetic, palm up waiting for Steve to take it. He wasn’t disappointed. Steve laced their fingers together and leaned heavier against Bucky’s. The gesture wasn’t lost on either of them. “I’m never going to live it down am I?”
Steve grinned, “What? Trying to clean me up with your tie? Or you saying that it was cheap? Because I don’t know if I’ll ever let you live either of those down.”
