Fill: X-Men First Class Charles/Erik

"Sarcasm does not become you, Hank."

"I'm not being sarcastic, professor. He's dangerous."

"He's just as dangerous as we are. Not any more or less."

Charles knows that's a lie; he'd told Erik that if the other man harnessed his power, he would be more than even Charles himself. But he's not going to admit that to Hank, who's barely out of his teens, despite the fact he's a genius.

Charles snorts and rubs his face. "Tomorrow is going to be difficult, Hank. Try and enjoy tonight while you can, alright?" He's not normally this blunt, but he's exhausted and thoughts of Erik make him wonder if he really is doing the right thing. Hank stands and smiles tightly at Charles, murmuring a goodnight as he exits the gazebo that fills the east side of Charles' back garden.

Charles can feel Erik before the other man speaks.

"He's right."

"I don't care," Charles bites off. He keeps his face pointed forward even as the other sits next to him, warmth radiating from Erik's body as it lines up next to Charles'.

"What if I do?"

Rain falls. The sun has long set, and the coming chill settles into Charles' bones. He hunches forward and tries not to start when Erik's hand rests on his back, a soft gesture for such harsh words.

Erik's hair sparkles with wetness when Charles finally sits up and meets his gaze.

"What if I gave you no choice?"

He wants Erik that badly. He's horrified at the thought and the fact he'd even voiced it out loud. But he's not going to lie.

The rain intensifies.

They stare at each other.

"I'd come to you regardless."

Charles blinks, and Erik kisses him, and that's all that matters.

*shivers* I love how you write them! That perfect, intense push-pull - dare I say it? - magnetism in their relationship.

With these two, I always get the feeling that if they lived in a different time - one with no mutant rights struggle - they'd go back and forth between being one of those Stepford couples where everyone knows they were just made for each other, and arguing so vehemently that everyone thinks they loathe each other. But to them, arguing is foreplay! ;)

I tend to go for the OTP's that love arguing, so I'm glad this came off right. Great prompt and the moment I saw your icon I thought of something like this. ;)

Thanks so much. :))))

Oh, it was perfect! When I saw the pairing and when I saw that the writer was you, wild horses couldn't have kept me from clicking on the link to read your fill!

Cherik is one of those "I'm going down with this ship" pairings for me. Especially after the scene in XMFC with the SATELLITE, not to mention the scene in DOFP with Sir Ian and Sir Patrick and the hands!

*shuffles* thank you. :) I wish I had time to do more for this fandom…I have so many loves right now it's hard *laughs* I will always be obsessed with that satellite scene jeeeeez. And the elevator and the plane in DOFP…umf. Such a great pairing. :)

xo

Do you have an AO3 account? I'd love to subscribe.

I love Cherik in the comics too, but the movies... Sir Ian/Sir Patrick and Michael/James both have such fantastic chemistry with each other on screen. <3

Yes I do. Same name! :)

I loved the comics for a long time, but the movies really re-energized my love of all things X-Men. :)

Thanks! *going off to stalk your fic* (^_~)

I'm so happy that Marvel seems to get getting it right! I've loved most of the recent X-men and MCU movies. I didn't like X3 or Wolverine Origins as much as the other X-men films, but even those were not the worst films I've ever seen. And most of the MCU films and TV shows have ranged from good to awesome!

My one disappoint so far has been the new Amazing Spiderman films. I loved every Spiderman comic as a kid, but for some reason, the new Amazing Spiderman movies just don't resonate with me. I couldn't get into emo bully skater boy Peter Parker.

Hahaha please do!

I'm pretending X3 didn't happen (Brett Ratner SUCKS) but I feel as though the Wolverine movies were pretty good. I liked the one that came out a year ago pretty well. MCU stuff is mostly good - you're right. I adore anything with Loki and I way loved Captain America - both of them.

I saw the first new Spider Man, and I really liked it, but that was not a comic book I ever read. I was an avid X-Men reader, so that's my jam. ;) Gambit and Rogue were always my favorites. I hope they do Gambit justice in Apocalypse - Jeez I hope so.

What I am worried about is NBC effing up Constantine, which was another comic I read for a thousand years and still love. We're not talking about the Keanu Reeves version, which is okay in it's own right, but it's not the comic at all.

I agree with you about X3. Sad too. I wanted SO MUCH to like it. I loved X2 a lot and both XMFC and DOFP were great!

I have to say that Captain America was a surprise for me. I went into the theater thinking I wouldn't like it and came out a huge fan of Chris Evans. I liked him well enough in Fantastic Four and Scott Pilgrim, but he's been terrific as Steve Rogers.

The new Amazing Spiderman movies didn't offend me or anything. They just didn't speak to me. I don't know. I left the first movie feeling really... apathetic. And I didn't bother watching the second one.

I heard that Gambit was being cast in Apocalypse. And also that they are releasing a "Rogue" version of DOFP in 2015. They cut out her whole storyline in the theatrical release, so they are releasing a DVD to put it back in -- about a 15 minute sequence, from what I understand.

We will see about Constantine. Do you know who is behind it? Is it Marvel studios / Disney?

I am definitely buying the DOFP blu ray and am really looking forward to seeing Anna's cut sequences. So weird.

Constantine is a DC/Vertigo property, but Warner Bros. owns the rights.
