LONELY PROMPTS MONTH::DAY 22
Dec. 21st, 2014 02:10 amWelcome to Lonely Prompts Month! This month we will be filling nothing but lonely prompts, and there's a vast selection to choose from.
This is going to from daily from December 1 to December 31. That's right, 31 straight days of Lonely Prompts!
How's everyone doing today? Ready for another day of requesting and filling lonely prompts? At the end of the month there will be a poll to see how people feel about this month of lonely prompts. If it was boring or overwhelming for people, they won't have to worry about this being a regular occurrence. In 2015, we will go back to having Lonely Prompts Sundays and 4 times a year we will have Lonely Prompts Week.
I'm done babbling. Time to share all the fills that were done on Day 21. You'll notice that this is posted earlier than usual. In an effort for you guys to have more time working on prompts, I will be adding fills to this entry later in the day. Hopefully with this being posted early, that will allow for more requests and fills.
Because of a posting error on my part, there are 2 entries posted today. One titled Day 21 and the other titled Day 22. Both entries will remain open for posting requests and filling them until Day 23's entry is posted. Hopefully I will pay better attention the remainder of the month so that entries are posted on their correct day.
DCU, Robin!Dick, Thieving from Alfred’s cookie jar is not an act that can go unpunished.
Marvel/DC (any), any, one or more Marvel characters visit Gotham on a business trip and end up meeting someone from the Bat family [DCU/MCU, Pepper Potts + Dick Grayson + Barbara Gordon + Tony Stark + Bruce Wayne]
DCU, always-a-girl!Jason Todd, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
Teen Wolf (TV), author’s choice, Hogwarts AU – the Hat really has no idea which House Stiles belongs to – but he asks for Hufflepuff because that’s where Scott went
DC Comics, Always-a-Girl!Jason Todd/anyone, pregnancy. [Jason/?]
author's choice, any, confusion or anxiety over the intended tone of the message(s) received [DCU, always-a-girl!Jason + Alfred]
If there are any that I missed, it was because I didn't know whether it was a request or a fill. Let me know what they were (by commenting to yesterday's post) and I will update the list here. Please use the correct posting format.
To find those elusive Lonely Prompts, you can rummage around at the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet, or go into the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
To get things going, a few rules that I ask you all to follow.
1. You can only request five prompts to be filled. However, once one of your prompts is filled, you can request another one.
2. You can request no more than three prompts from the same fandom.
3. You can, however, fill as many prompts as you'd like!
4. In the subject line, be sure to say whether this is a request or a fill!
5. You must link back to whatever the prompt is in the community logs (whether filling or requesting it be filled), and, if you're filling the prompt, please complete the fill as a response to the original prompt.
6. If you are filling an "any/any" prompt, please let us know what fandom (or, if original, say so!) you're using for the response.
7. If you filled any lonely prompts earlier this week, this is the place to share them!
8. Finally, we now have a community at AO3. If you have an AO3 account, please post your fills there. More information on how to do this is located at this link.

Please make sure to use the correct format when posting requests and/or fills. It makes it easier for me to go through and copy/paste the fills without having to determine if something is a request or fill.

Request
Date: 2014-12-21 10:42 am (UTC)Request
Date: 2014-12-21 10:51 am (UTC)FILL: The Circle of Life
Date: 2014-12-23 12:18 am (UTC)Characters: Sherlock & John
John’s voice was low, just barely audible, tinged with a sadness he normally wouldn’t allow himself to express. “Sherlock, I don’t understand. How... how can you be so cold about this?”
Sherlock gave him a shrug, his face carefully neutral.
John searched for the smallest hint of pain in his friend’s expression, but found none.
Sherlock turned his back to him, staring blankly at the dark night sky through the hospital waiting room window. “Alas, essentially, we are all of us only meat, John. An accumulation of cells, bound together by proteins, ions and water. And there comes a point, sooner or later, where that perfectly constructed organism stops working. It’s the circle of life. You of all people should know that.”
He knew it was Sherlock’s coping mechanism. Scientific rationalisation over genuine emotion — always that, never the obvious.
The plastic chair creaked as John got up and hesitantly sidled up to Sherlock. He lifted his arm and let his hand hover for a second before he gently placed it on his friend’s shoulder. It was an awkward gesture at best, with the difference in height between them, but John didn’t let that deter him.
When his palm touched the fabric of Sherlock’s suit jacket, the detective’s head lowered ever so slightly and John could feel him sag a fraction of an inch beneath his hand.
He lightly squeezed Sherlock’s shoulder, not sure what to say. But maybe there wasn’t anything to say. They’d always lived on stimulating conversation as much as semi-comfortable stretches of silence.
He let his hand linger for another few seconds, then removed it and softly said, “I’ll be outside. Take your time.”
Sherlock didn’t respond, and John understood. Maybe it hadn’t sunk in yet. Maybe it had sunk in too deep. The storm was yet to come, and one thing John Watson knew with a fierce certainty: He would be there through all of it. Whatever it took.
