Monday's Theme: Fairy Tales and Legends

Hello, everyone. I’m daria234 and today's theme is Fairy Tales and Legends. Prompts can be anything related to fairy tales, legends, etc.: fairy tale AUs, how characters became legendary, how characters are similar to fairy tale characters, etc.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.

"Hello, Jack," says Lady Midday, smiling. She has straight brown hair and big brown eyes and her dress is long, flowing and white.

Jack Frost stares in mute shock, licks his lips and finally manages to whisper, "Polly?"

She is older than he remembers, but he knows his little sister when he sees her.

She reaches out to him, and what can he do but place his hand in hers? It burns him, the heat rising from her skin, but he does not care. "How...?"

"I had children. Twins, and they were so beautiful, but my husband decided that they weren't his." A snarl twists her lips. "He threw us out into the heat of summer midday and we died. It hurt so much, and... my children couldn't even cry, in the end. I wanted so much to protect them but I couldn't. I've been so angry ever since."

"Polly," Jack murmurs, shocked and horrified. He doesn't ask if her husband's suspicions were correct, it doesn't matter. He can feel his own anger stirring, he knows that he would kill that man were he not surely long dead already.

"Help me, Jack. Please."

Lady Midday is a killer. She has been killing indiscriminately with fevers, heatstroke and madness. He is supposed to stop her.

"What do you want?" he asks, intense and worried, hesitating. He knows that he...

"I want to destroy everything," she replies, equally intense, eyes blazing.

He jerks back, his hand, red and aching, slipping away from hers. He stares down at it, biting his lip.

"Please, Jack. I don't want to be alone anymore!"

He knows that he never could refuse her anything.

In your dreams you fly.

Not in the rickety metal plane of your day job but on your own feathered wings. Higher and higher you circle, the sound of your father's voice lost far below you: pulled away from you by passing zephyrs.

In your dreams the joy you feel cannot be contained and a euphoric madness takes hold of you. You call challenges to Helios and strain ever higher. You reach to pluck the wool from the clouds, to weave yourself raiment fit for the Gods.

But your father's warning proves prophetic and in your dreams your wings begin to break, the feathers falling from your shoulders and arms like leaves in the fall.

You cry out for mercy from the god you have so callously offended, but his temper is as hot as the wheels of his chariot and he deems your pride all the protection you'll need on your journey back to Gaea's loving embrace.

You wake up crying out in fear but you do not remember your dreams.

At school you were made to read the myths of ancient civilizations. Icarus is the one that has stuck with you the most, your longing for flight echoed in this long lost soul.

Despite the warning of Icarus, though, You cannot help but take to the skies at every opportunity, even if you will never really fly on your own.

The declaration should have caused a commotion. They should have screamed or at least thought he was bonkers. They should have been terrified instead of simply sitting there, looking up at him from their piles and piles of research.

Willow yawned, then turned back to her computer and clicked again. Buffy started grabbing weapons. Only Xander actually acknowledged him. "Again?" he asked.

Giles removed his spectacles and started rapidly cleaning them. He stifled his own sigh of weariness. They really were all too tired to deal with this properly, but there simply was no one else.
