Hello, everyone. I’m
johnboy91719 and today's theme is dark fic. Prompts can be anything having to do with the dark. Perhaps your character start to let his inner darkness out? Maybe your fic takes place after it's dark out? Or maybe you go the more traditional route, and just have the fic make your characters miserable. This seems like a fitting theme for Friday the 13th. :)
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Once Upon a Time, Snow White, Snow White's darkness is let loose
+ Supernatural, Dean Winchester, Demon!Dean returns with a vengeance
+ Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., anyone/anyone, what happens after dark stays between you and me
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2015 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2015-12-07 04:22 am (UTC)There's nothingness - quiet and dark, and people keep touching without a way to warn you, and you don't know what they want, or who they are, or anything at all - but then, on the back of your hand, there is a touch you know, and you flip your hand to grab at those fingers you could never be frightened of you, and you're crying because there is something, and you're not alone here.

Fill: Serve to Protect (Steve + Natasha)
Date: 2016-08-28 11:08 pm (UTC)“I don’t know,” the prisoner says, arms straining at his bonds. His face is pulpy with blood, teeth scattered on the cement floor. “Come on, please. If I knew, I’d tell you.”
Natasha clenches her fists, blood squeezing from her leather gloves. “Oh, I know. Which is why I keep,” she starts, going in for a sharp left hook, “hitting you.” Her arms are getting tired—that’s how long they’ve been at it.
“Widow,” a voice comes in over her comm, and she pauses. “It’s time. Take him out.”
Natasha frowns. “He’s close,” she murmurs, knowing the man in the chair isn’t paying attention. “He’ll break soon.”
“The girl is dead,” Steve says. “That man is a liar. Take him out.” There’s a crackling pause. “Please.” He always says please, like he’s asking. Manners are one of his rules.
“Yes, Cap,” she says, and loads her gun, drowning out the man’s panicked screams.
“Three bullets. Bring the casings to—“ Steve’s voice is cut off by three successive shots.
*
“This is not why I came to this country,” Natasha says quietly from the doorway. “I wanted to wipe the red from my ledger, and now all I’m doing is smearing the ink.”
Steve looks up. He’s in a white tee shirt and jeans, freshly showered, looking every inch the good poster boy he’s always been, but Natasha knows better than to think he’s off-duty, that he’s not still the Captain. “You’re doing what you’re good at, Nat. Why shouldn’t you?” He stands and walks towards her, and she can’t help but shrink back, just a little. He’s like America herself—larger than life. Larger than anyone anticipated. “I need you,” he says. “This country needs you.” He holds out his hand, eyebrow raised.
She sighs, dropping three bullet casings into his hand. She wants to turn to leave, but instead she asks, “What do you use them for?”
Steven shrugs, giving her that wry little smile of his. “I’m an old man, Nat. I don’t want to forget things.”
There’s so much more she wants to ask him. She knows Sam is back in D.C., keeping an eye on a corrupt member of the Senate, and that Steve’s been in contact with Dr. Jane Foster about a possible breach into Asgard. She knows Barnes is still on the loose in the world, ready with a knife at his Captain’s word. She knows Wanda is still in the basement back at the training facility.
But she also knows the rule. There’s always rules, and with Steve, they must be followed.
“Good soldiers don’t ask questions,” Steve says, as if reading her mind, and clasps one warm hand on Natasha’s shoulder, squeezing it. She’s never been able to tell if that rule is a joke or not. “This is America, after all.” He smiles, that aw shucks grin that makes Natasha shiver, the one that tells her that this is his country, and he will do with her what he pleases.

Fill: gotta love dark OT3
Date: 2017-07-20 03:29 am (UTC)It's quick and gory and as painful as she can make it, and Nate and Sophie peice it together through collected details that have cold shivers rolling down their spines.
She finds Hardison in an abandon warehouse five hours later and they both smile like they have a secret know one else could imagine. Or well, no one besides them two and Eliot, when he wakes up with the same grin and a glint in his eyes that has Sophie placing on an uneasy smile and somthing cold running across Nate's back.

Date: 2015-02-13 02:09 pm (UTC)Author’s choice, author’s choice, every man has to die
Fill: Original
Date: 2016-07-14 08:41 am (UTC)The tent smells of death, though the man isn't dead yet. Quinn holds her husband's hand, one of the few parts of him that emerges from the white sheet draped over him, spotted and wrinkled against her own near-perfect skin. Her heart aches.
A hand lands on her shoulder, and she looks up at her mother's somber face. "Is it always this hard?" Quinn whispers, dashing away a tear with her free hand.
Her mother sits down beside her, maintaining a comforting contact as their shoulders brush. "The first time is always the same. Next time will be a little easier, and after that, it feels like less each time. But it never stops hurting entirely. Not when you really love them."
"I wish it didn't have to be like this," Quinn says, though she knows it's pointless. She rubs her finger over Daen's wedding band, the one that matches her own. Most women didn't bother marrying their male lovers, it being so seemingly temporary, but Quinn hadn't been able to resist. She loves him so much.
"Every man has to die," her mother says gently. "Otherwise our population would grow unstably large. We're in enough danger of that already."
"It's not fair," Quinn continues, empty protests in the face of grief. "At least with Father you didn’t have to watch it happen."
Her mother sighs. "It wasn't that simple. Losing your father in battle was a different kind of pain. True I didn't watching him grow old and suffer, but you must consider that you have had time to prepare yourself. You had many, many years your father and I didn't." There's a long pause between them before she goes on. "My first husband - my only husband - was like Daen. Just sitting here with you brings the memories right back. It's been nearly two centuries, but I still remember holding his hand just like you're doing now."
Quinn can only nod, not quite knowing what to say. Her mother has never said much about her first love. Perhaps now Quinn can understand why. "I can't imagine loving someone else after this. I can't...I can't imagine going through this again."
"I thought the same." Her mother stands and gives her a sad smile. "Pain fades in time, my love. You will love again, I promise. And we will all be here for you in the meantime." She leans in to kiss Quinn's forehead. "I'll leave you be. I'll have one of the children bring supper."
"Thank you." She listens to her mother leave, and turns back to Daen. She lifts his hand to press a kiss to the pale, tender skin. "No matter how many I may love in some distant future," she swears softly, "none will ever be like you."

Date: 2015-03-25 12:53 am (UTC)Sometimes she goes days without speaking, without looking at anything that isn't out for her blood. Once she offered monsters clever quips, offered them a sharp smile with a stake to the heart. Now she only listens for the sound of her stake hitting the perfect spot, necks snapping beneath her strong hands.
Once there was a girl who had a terrible secret put upon her. Now that secret is all she has.
When they call her to Sunnydale, she does as she's told – not because she wants to, not because they need her to, but because there's nothing else holding her back.
