Tuesday: Second Chances
Feb. 17th, 2015 06:18 amHello, everyone. I’m
marlex and it's day two of my guest hosting gig. Today's theme is second chances. Everyone had regrets or things they wish could have gone differently. Sometimes life, or fate or whatever else is out there gives us just that, a second chance to get it right. Today's prompts can be anything in which someone or something gets a second chance, whether it's is this life or the next. Have fun!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
any, any/any, they are reincarnated lovers who have the chance to get it right this time
Forever, Henry/Jo, After Abigail, he never thought he would find somebody else.
any, any, using a time machine to fix a mistake
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2015 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2015-02-17 09:47 pm (UTC)Loved Not Wisely (http://icarus-chained.livejournal.com/480663.html) (on LJ or AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/works/3381521))
There are such things as paired souls, drawn to each other across all the cycles of reincarnation. This is the story of one pair, whose love was so great that a god cursed them out of jealousy, so that they should always meet as enemies, and recognise each other only as they met their doom at each other's hands. (1803 words, original work)

Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero
This is the day for Taylor Swift lyrics, apparently...

Date: 2015-02-17 01:53 pm (UTC)--
Apparently he’s a security contractor in this universe. Which is a little – a little - less hilarious than him being a cop, but only by the very narrowest of margins because please. Him a good guy? A straight flyer? A man who prevents crimes instead of causing them? Give him a break, he needs to figure his way out of this universe as quickly as possible or else go insane-
“Hey, sweetie!” A tight bit of ass, who somehow looks familiar, chirps as he enters the formerly empty apartment – gives him a deep kiss, and then trots away before he can do more than start confusedly at the ever so brief slip of tongue, “Not got dinner on yet? Good, because I’ve got reservations-“
…He blinks, slowly.
…Well, maybe finding his way out of this universe can wait a while.

Date: 2015-02-17 12:46 pm (UTC)Fill: "Catch Me", Kurt/Ororo, G
Date: 2015-02-17 11:35 pm (UTC)It is the same with love. Ororo was always so close and yet just out of his reach. She seemingly saw him as nothing more than a friend or a “little brother” at best.
Yet, there were little moments, near catches and near misses, impromptu waltzes and light kisses on the hand, stolen glances and quiet nights watching the rain fall.
But the timing was never right. He was seeing someone else. And then he was gravely injured and Ororo was “dead”. Then they were in separate countries. And then they reunited, but then Ororo was married. And then Kurt was dead. And then he was alive again but she was in love with someone else who would also die. They were always swinging in the wrong direction, too far to leap before she was carried away with the wind.
There was never going to be the perfect time. There would just have to be “close enough”, a quiet moment that came rarely and passed too quickly to miss…
Kurt was given a second chance at life for a reason. So the daredevil in him told him to take a deep breath, reach out to Ororo and catch her in a kiss, and hope and pray that she did not hit him with a lightning bolt or the back of her knuckles.
And then he could exhale when she caught him tight in her arms, and return the kiss.
“What took you so long?” She whispered with a smile.
