Hello, everyone. I’m truthwritaslies and today's theme is Dancing! Prompts can be about any kind of dancing, even watching it!

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.

Clint leaned against the wall, his beer, nearly empty, was dangling between his fingers. He normally didn’t mind parties but there was someplace he’d rather be and someone he’d definitely rather be with, but Laura was too close to term to be allowed to fly. He spotted the waiter and flagged him over, draining the last gulp of beer before setting the empty on the tray and ordering another before leaning back against the wall to watch.

Tony and Pepper still dance around one another with little touches even though they claimed they
weren’t together anymore. He knew by the expression on his face that Cap had come from seeing an even frailer Peggy Carter and the untypical whiskey in his hand told him just how hard Steve’s visit was. He saw Bruce with his tonic water and twist of lime while Tasha stood close and her glass of wine. He smiled at his old friend, glad she was finding some happiness.

As he took his second, or was it third, beer from the waiter, he thought about going out there and joining in the fun. But right now all he wanted to do was make it through the party and be able to slip out with a quinjet and go home. It wasn’t that he hadn’t missed it before but it seems like after the fall of SHIELD, he missed being on the farm more and more these days.

“Whatcha looking at?”

Clint turns and sees Wanda come to stand next to him. “Everything. Nothing, he answered which was actually true. He saw more than he wanted to when he was in this mode.

“Seems lonely.”

“Heh,” he huffed. “It can be. But tonight I’d rather be watching than participating.”

“Some place you’d rather be?”

“Yes. Home with my family,” he answered honestly for the first time in far too many years.
“So go.”

Clint laughed. “If only it were than simple. But I’ll be home by morning.”

“So what do you see?”

He smiled, she was learning to choose her questions to get the answers she wanted. “You have fresher eyes, how about you tell me what you see?”

He listened to her describe the scene before them. They people, their drinks, their body language. And when she caught somethings he missed, he told her as much. She would be a good trainee and an asset to them.

When Natasha dances she remembers pain and terror and all too brief moments of joy. When she dances she remembers a man whose name she did not know (but does now) taking her virginity like it is a precious commodity rather than a cheap trinket she might otherwise have used on a mission. When she dances she remembers her sisters: the girls who grew to be her enemies in arms.

When Natasha dances it holds all the memories the Red Room could never entirely wipe away.

When Bucky lifts Natasha in a fish dive he forgets the weight of the weapons he's carried, the bullets he's fired, the recoil action of the rifles. When he does the brisé volé he forgets the faces of the innocents he has killed, outrun the memories of children staring into nothing as they hang limply from his metal arm. When he pirouettes again and again until he feels ill and weak in the ankles he forgets that he nearly killed his best friend.

When Bucky dances it wipes the memories that Hydra left to poison his mind.

When Buffy is feeling particularly poetic-y, she likes to compare her relationship with Angel to a dance. Not the dancing that she saw so much of in her high school years - which was basically just swaying in one spot - no, she pictures it as a slow, intricate, dance, more like the dances of Angel's time, which is kind of appropriate anyway.

It started when they first met. Step forward, step back, the dance becoming more and more intimate as time passed. Looking back on it she can practically hear the orchestra in the background, communicating without words their story. Betrayal! Heartbreak! Murder!

Maybe she could sell the rights to her life to a ballet or something. After all, the cost of slaying was high, and it wasn't as if she had a part-time job anymore.

She can make jokes about it now, when he's not around and they aren't dancing around each other. Pretend that she won't dance with him again.

But she does, every time. Their story never changes; they know how it will end.
