Pempti: Buttercup Yellow
May. 28th, 2015 09:33 amHappy morning! (Well, not so much today. Yay illness!) I’m
doreyg and today's theme is Yellow. Prompts can be anything relating to the colour yellow: be it the colour of straw, the colour of gold or even a character with blonde hair. As long as it's something yellow, you're good!
Rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not. This basically follows the AO3 warning system (graphic violence, character death non-con, underage), with any extra warnings left to the discretion of the author.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Time for some examples!:
+ Justice League Cartoon, John Stewart/Wally West, "bring home the gold, hotshot."
+ The Flash (TV), Ronnie Raymond/Mick Rory(/Martin Stein), you are my sunshine
+ Batman: TAS, Harley Quinn(/Bruce Wayne), bombshell blonde
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2015 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community. Another option is the new LJ archive of prompts that we've been working on, which can be found here.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2015-05-28 08:43 pm (UTC)Two hours later a knock at the door took her attention away from the book she was reading. Melancholy, shoulders slumped and head hung, the little girl opened the door to find a little boy with honey-golden freckles holding a red velvet box.
“For you,” the little boy grinned brightly, offering up the box.
The girl did not know the boy personal, but she had seen him a few days before; his family had just moved in next door to her. She opened the box to find a beautiful, sweet scented crown of daisy headband. The little girl beamed with joy, yet she was perplexed by the gift. “Why did you buy this for me?”
“I saw those older boys picking on you; they tore your headband and broke it. You smiled and waved at me yesterday, and I wanted to see you smile, not cry. So I bought you this. Do you like it?”
The girl was grinning so brightly she was sure she was sparkling. “I love it! Thank you!” She hugged the little boy and when she returned the embrace, he confessed, “You have the prettiest smile I've ever seen.”
The girl blushed rosy red. “This smile only exists because Of you!”

Date: 2016-07-29 09:02 pm (UTC)When J'onn thinks of beauty, he thinks of his wife, he thinks of his daughters. He doesn't think of the women of Earth, though as the year pass by and he lives as Hank Henshaw, he does begin to develop if not an appreciation for Earth standards of beauty, then an ability to accurately assess when someone does or doesn't reach those standards.
But he never looks at an Earth woman and considers her beautiful.
Not until he's holed up in a motel room in the middle of nowhere, sitting on the edge of the bed as he tries to come up with a plan for what's next, and the door opens and Alex comes out of the bathroom.
A cloud of steam follows in her wake, which explains her pink cheeks and she rubs at her hair with the towel around her neck. She's wearing a pair of loose fitting pyjama pants and a baggy t-shirt - nothing indecent, he's seen more of her shape when they've been sparring at the DEO - and she looks up at him and gives him a small smile and suddenly, it's like he's seeing the sun after years in the dark.
He does his best to keep his face neutral and he must do too good a job because her smile slips as she blinks, a tiny line appearing between her eyebrows. "J'onn? Are you ok?"
He nods, does his best to smile. "Just thinking," he says, knowing that even if he's currently safe from the forces that are hunting him, he's still in more danger than he'd ever thought possible.

Date: 2015-10-28 05:40 pm (UTC)I combined this with this prompt and this prompt.
We have forgotten how it felt
when warmth fell down from the sky.
Once, ages ago, I’m told
there was a light burning bright
high up there in the sky.
There were so many
dotting the night with little lights.
Can you imagine such a sight?
My darling love, how warm it was,
how bright and beautiful.
We have forgotten oh so much.
But legends tell of that star above
and legends tell of how it died.
Oh, how it died!
Do you see the light of the fire
thrown up and out into the sky?
It lit everything aglow;
it must have been so very beautiful,
more than I can fathom –
more than I’ve ever dreamed.
We have forgotten
And only have stories now.
It is so cold;
do you know what daylight means?
Once the sky was warm, I think,
Once, stars could be seen.
Fire fades, it seems,
embers and ashes and a long ago dream.
Once, there was a fire in the sky
and all was alive,
and I remember the stories my grandmother would tell –
I have forgotten so many
but this one I know.
Come, my love, sit by the fire.
It is the very last of all
and when it goes…
Listen and do not fear.
Let my words warm you,
cling tight to my hand.
Once, all was warm and bright,
until the warmth fell from the sky.
But before that, oh, it was so grand –
It is dark now, always.
But once, I swear to you,
there were lights that lit up the night.
