It had the feeling of a shotgun wedding, even though Ronnie knew it wasn't. And he definitely wouldn't have said that thought out loud: no matter what some people would have you believe, he did have some semblance of tact, thank you very much.

Besides, Alesha (as far as he knew) wasn't pregnant and crying, nor was her father standing behind Matt with an angry expression. Her dad looked a little bit shell shocked as a matter of fact and while Alesha looked like she had been crying - and considering the last few days, he wouldn't be surprised - he was ninety percent sure they were happy tears.

Ok, maybe seventy five perfect - it had been a rough few days.

Matt's mum was standing at the end of the bed, Alesha's mum beside her, the two of them trading tissues and weepy glances every time they looked at their kids, who were at the opposite end of the room with only eyes for each other. Matt, still hooked up to goodness knows what monitors was smiling up at Alesha like she was the greatest thing he'd ever seen and she was smiling down at him the exact same way. The hospital chaplain stood on the opposite side of the bed from Alesha and he skipped the vows about sickness and health and death doing them part - good call, my son, Ronnie thought to himself.

At the appropriate time, Ronnie produced the two gold rings from his jacket pocket, handed them over. He'd guessed the sizes, done well with Matt's but Alesha's was a good two sizes too big and Ronnie shrugged an apology. "I know," he said. "I had one job..."

"Don't worry about it." Matt's voice was weak, but it rang with conviction. "If you think that's going to spoil our day..." He tightened his hand on Alesha's and a single tear ran down her cheek.

Just then the chaplain pronounced them husband and wife and Alesha leaned down to kiss Matt, smiling through her tears.

And if a tough East End copper like Ronnie found tears in his own eyes?

That was fine with him.

"Must we?" the man mutters, just barely loud enough for Caroline to hear. She glances up from her book, to where a tall blond man is standing next to a short blonde woman. She blinks because neither of them look... right? She's not sure what's wrong but something is.

"This is where the snorkack will be," the woman says, stepping around the man to look out over the park. Caroline always comes here on her lunch break to clear her head, because even children shrieking is soothing after staring at the computer screen for hours.

Snorkack? she mouths. The man sighs but follows the woman onto the grass.

Whatever is going on with them, it doesn't seem dangerous, so Caroline looks back at her book. She's got fifteen minutes left and the duchess just realized the cook is actually her long-lost brother.

Her phone chimes the five-minute warning and she sighs. She gathers up the trash and looks back towards the field, to see if - yup, there they are. The man is staring down at the woman, mouth open, and Caroline can barely hear him ask, "Are you sure, Luna? You know that - "

And Luna (apparently) rises on her tiptoes to kiss his lips. Her voice carries as she says, "Of course I'm sure, Draco. Now, let's find the snorkack. I'm sure it's around here somewhere."

Caroline turns away from the man's awed, fond smile, feeling just a little happier, for some reason.

Lito was panicking.

Hernando was probably standing at the altar right now, wondering if Lito decided to back out what is being called the wedding of century by reporters.....and Lito's fucking asshole father decided to back out of walking down the aisle.

It was some bullshit about his Catholic scruples telling him supporting his decision on the sidelines but not being actively being involved in his first born son's son. Frankly Lito shouldn't have been surprised....the man refused to talk to him when he first came out for a couple of months before his mother convinced the man to come to his senses.

But with camera's flashing and everyone who was anyone here....this was rather....upsetting....embarrassing. He wasn't quite sure how to describe it.

"Shit, Shit, Shit," He whispered, he couldn't walk down this aisle alone...he'd look like a fool.

He took a peek through the curtains. Hernando was surprisingly calm, cool and collected. Daniela, the maid of honor, was the more impatient one wanting to get this wedding over so she could celebrate. She even declared she was just ready to marry Hernando herself.

Suddenly the sound of someone clearing their throat behind them interrupted his thoughts.

"Sir," Lito said. It was Hernando's father.

"I see your father decided to back out on walking down you down the aisle," The older gentleman said with a small grin, "what a fool. A man who doesn't support his son in his decisions is a coward. Here." He paused and let out his arm. "I'll walk you down."

Lito Blinked.

"Why are you doing this you should be walking Hernando down the aisle...not me?" He asked.

Hernando's father laughed.

"My son is over the moon for you," He said, "He says he feels so Kevin Costner around you whatever that means." Lito snorted remembering where that reference came from. "This is his special day and nothing would make him happier to know his son to be husband is happy too."

There was a long pause. Lito was trying to sink in the emotions. Being a sensuate it was hard to keep track of what he was feeling because floods of feelings came at the same time. But there was something he felt for certain.

Love, acceptance and a good life waiting for him.

“Thank you, thank you,” Lito said kissing his soon to be father in law on both cheeks. “How could I ever repay you Sir.”

“Just call me Papa...we are family after all,” The older gentleman said smiling brighter, “Now shall we?”

Without a single hesitation, as the music played throughout the church, Lito took his arm and both men walked down the long aisle of the church.

Meanwhile at the altar a large million dollar grin graced Hernando cheeks at the sight of his soon to be husband being walked down the aisle by his own father.

“Aw this is so cute,” Daniela said her eyes watering at the cuteness, “Look at him. He looks like he’s feeling Whitney Houston again.”

At this point Hernando was so happy his cheeks were beginning to become sore from smiling. He had a feeling this day was going to become much more magical than he thought.

“It runs in the family,” He said bluntly.

Best father ever.

(Brownie points if Melinda responds of course I'll marry you you idiot).

They're pinned down - again - by weapon fire. On the one hand, Fitz is far away, safe, so there's no need to worry about him. On the other, their opponents have gotten better at shooting with these weapons the more practise they have. They're a bunch of 'freedom fighters' who sideline in abduction, now armed with alien tech. It's not a combination Melinda May likes. It’s her mission to separate them, and it’s going to be her pleasure to complete it.

May spares Coulson, crouched by her side, a glance, because whatever plan she's going to come up with, she needs to know how her partner's doing. He said he was fine, he’s wearing body armor, but she’ll be glad to take it off and check for herself later.

"Julio's seems a while ago," he says, derailing Melinda's thought processes. It's barely days plural, but the past few hours have been filled with bad news and worry, desperate plans and more bad news. Julio's was a restaurant with terrible but cheery music and decent seafood on generous plates, where they were Phil and Melinda, relaxing under the night sky on a date. Her dress is in a SHIELD locker and skin has been coated with layers of sweat and gunshot residue, probably even flecks of blood, since then.

She nods in agreement. Julio’s does seem a while ago.

"I meant to ask you something then," he says in a more casual tone than she's heard from him since the alarm was raised by a panicked phone call, interrupting their desert. There’s another burst of fire and another piece of wall dissolves.

"Oh," she says, noting that Phil's in a weird mood, although he’s been returning fire effectively, so if she aims the flash-bang device Skye handed to her just right, he should be able to handle these amateurs, dangerous as they've proved to be, long enough for her to get to them and finish this.

"But now's good, I think."

May is calculating where the flash-bang will make the greatest distraction, but she throws him another glance after taking another shot and emptying her cartridge.

"For what?"

He's smiling, a little nervously.

"Will you marry me?" he asks.

Melinda's heart soars like the first time she took out a Quinjet. Only Phil Coulson would ask her this here and now.

"Of course I'll marry you, you idiot," she says. "Now, cover me."
