Epic Wednesday
Aug. 19th, 2015 12:49 pmGood Wednesday my lambs,
classics_lover here with you again. Today's theme is Myths and Epics. Prompts must be epic (on a grand or small scale) or mythic in nature. Maybe Tony Stark's day is narrated by Brian Blessed, maybe the villains of Gotham tell their children tales of the Batman, maybe someone wakes up feeling a bit questy. Have fun with it!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ MCU/RPF, Tony Stark + Brian Blessed, Brian Blessed is narrating the documentary "A Day in the Life of Tony Stark" and Tony can't go to the bathroom without it sounding EPIC
+ Star Trek (any series), any, Tales of the Enterprise(s) (featuring commentary such as "that never happened!")
+ Author's choice, author's choice, I shall go on a quest for the mythical Dead Pig, and return to feasting. On Bacon."
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2015 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2015-08-19 11:52 am (UTC)Fill: Star Trek TNG/DS9; Riker, La Forge, Dax; "This One Time, on Shore Leave..."
Date: 2015-08-22 03:49 am (UTC)Geordi groaned and rubbed his forehead. “You are not gonna bring that up.”
Eyes glinting with mischief, Will prodded his chief engineer. “Oh come on, Geordi. Shore leave? Risa? About two years ago?” He turned his gaze to Jadzia. “You might not guess it to look at him, but Commander La Forge can be quite the ladies’ man when he’s got a few belts in him.” He swirled the bright green liquid in his glass and drank it down.
“Exactly none of that was my fault,” Geordi protested. “And I’m sure our lovely host isn’t intereste – ”
“Oh, I’m very interested,” Jadzia put in, grinning as she poured a second round for herself and Riker. “Please. Go on.”
Geordi sipped. He’d learned his lesson about Aldebaran whiskey. Namely, he had no head for it. “Well first of all, you have to understand, Commander Riker here was absolutely set on finding me a woman. He talked me into buying this statue…”
Jadzia burst into laughter. “Will, you didn’t. How many officers have you taken in with that stunt?”
“Enough I had to talk Admiral Douglas out of issuing a fleet-wide advisory.” Will raised his glass. “And it works every time.”
Geordi winced at the memory. “So we have a horga’hn sitting right out on the bar, and of course this Risian woman – ”
“A stunning Risian woman…”
“ – walks up with a bottle of this.” Geordi nodded toward the whiskey. “I just thought she was being friendly,” he muttered.
“I’ll say she was friendly.” Will threw back his head on a laugh. “She squeezed in between us, hands just, everywhere, pouring shots, telling jokes. Until…” He heard La Forge groan again. Smiled wide. “Romeo over here spilled a drink all over her.”
Geordi drained his glass and filled it again. He’d need it, knowing where Riker’s story was headed.
“And then…” A wicked grin spread across the first officer’s face. “He offered to clean her up. With his tongue.”
Geordi gasped. “That never happened.” All right. He had no idea where the story was headed. He needed to get control of the situation. “I offered to get her a clean shirt from my quarters.”
“You offered to take her upstairs and, how was it? ‘Get you out of those wet clothes?’”
“Very smooth, Commander La Forge.” Jadzia tilted her chin, a knowing smile on her lips.
“I panicked!” Geordi insisted. “As soon as it came out of my mouth I thought sure I’d offended her.” He realized he was chuckling in spite of himself. This whiskey… “So I’m stammering, apologizing, ‘I didn’t mean it like that,’ and, ‘please forgive me,’ and – ”
“No, no, no. You’re telling it wrong. Where you heard stammering, we heard sweet nothings.” Another round, another wink at Jadzia. “I’ll bet you a bottle of this, those two didn’t see daylight the rest of his shore leave. I know it’s the last I saw of you.”
“Commander!” Geordi covered his face, shook his head. “It wasn’t like that.”
“Oh no? I’ll bet your communicator log knows the story. Or better yet…” Will tapped his chest; his insignia chirped. “Riker to Data.”
“Yes, Commander,” came the android’s voice.
“Will you kindly report to Quark’s bar? We need you to settle a bet.”

FILL: Hit the floor, Zero/Jude
Date: 2016-04-06 05:04 pm (UTC)His pace is the perfect blind of swift yet not to rush to get them to the finish line before he is ready; of course, he is more focused on Jude's desire to reach the peak then his own pleasure which coils hot in the pit of his belly.
The tight, wet heat around his flesh feels exquisite every time he is buried to the hilt inside Jude, and with the sensation of Jude's hands on his body, lightly brushing up and down his spine, fingertips tickling softly, and his lips tasting sweet like cherries when they kiss, Zero is helpless to stop the overwhelming pleasure that washes over his body.
He is the first to come, but even as he shakes from the pleasure, he gets a hand around Jude's cock and tugs; unsurprisingly after nearly an hour of love making, Zero is not a one minute men, it doesn't long before Jude is crying out his orgasm...just so happens just as he starts to cum the church bells next to their apartment began to ring. Either it was the most epic timing ever or God was watching and congratulating him.
If God was watching, then surly he would smile fondly knowing these two love birds, who had started out friends, had become much more.
They were soul mates, two kindhearted fools lost in love.

FILL: the girl in the iceberg (G)
Date: 2015-08-21 10:22 am (UTC)The second boy hangs back, watching her with sharp eyes. She lifts her chin and meets his gaze. No one looks at her like that, she's—
Yes, she's the Avatar, that's right. She'd forgotten, for a minute. It was nice.
"Are you all right?" says the first boy, the one whose coat she's wearing. She snaps her attention back to him. "Our village isn't far. You can warm up there."
"Scott," the other one warns, voice low.
"Look at her, she's not a Fire Nation soldier. She's freezing."
"I'm fine," she says, surprised to find she still remembers how to speak. Move your mouth and words come out. A little like airbending, in a way.
"I'm Scott," says the first boy. "That's Stiles."
Names. Yes, people have those. She has one too, doesn't she? "I'm— Malia."
The boy—Scott—smiles, the warmest thing in this frozen place. It's the kind of smile she thinks anyone could follow to the ends of the earth. "Nice to meet you, Malia. Let's get you someplace warm."

Date: 2015-08-21 04:11 pm (UTC)It's a story they all know, everyone who lives in Brooklyn. Not just because of the memorial, the statue, the Remembrance Garden that blooms every spring. Not just because of the holiday or the songs or the movies made every few years.
That's why they know the story in other places, the world over. But in Brooklyn, in Brooklyn they remember for other reasons.
There was a pair of boys, it begins, and they grew up in awful times. But they were good boys, doing their best. One had a pack of little sisters and the other a ma who died young.
There was a pair of men, it continues, who went to war. How they got there is where the story really begins.
In Brooklyn, there's a garden that grows sunflowers and rosemary and white roses. In Brooklyn, there's a memorial full of names. In Brooklyn, there are people who remember their names.
The world over, their deeds are praised, hundreds of years later. The hero who didn't like bullies and the hero who brought himself back, who died minutes apart saving the world from the mad titan that wouldn't to turn the earth to dust - the entire team is remembered. Only one of them survived and then he disappeared, Dr. Banner and his other half.
Russia claims the Black Widow, the United States Hawkeye and Iron Man and Captain America and Winter Soldier and Falcon. Thor was never the Earth's, and he went home, after.
But Brooklyn, Brooklyn remembers them as boys and as men. Not just what they became, not just what they survived.
Sometimes, the story goes, if you sit quietly in the garden, you can hear them. And don't cry, sweetheart. They wouldn't want your tears. They'd want you to laugh.
In Brooklyn, they all know the story, and they tell their children, as their parents and grandparents told them, and even hundreds of years later, there are children sitting in the Remembrance Garden, talking about a smart-mouthed punk who didn't like bullies and the bright-eyed boy who followed him.

Date: 2015-08-19 04:43 pm (UTC)fill: young justice - the time traveller's assistant
Date: 2015-08-20 03:06 am (UTC)His dejected walk back to the slave camp offers evidence to the contrary. The sky is dark but the town looks like something out of Nathaniel's childhood memories. The houses are whole and hardy instead of falling apart from decades of neglect. The grass is a healthy green instead of hungry yellow and the people...
The people he sees are as collarless as him, clean as him, and they look... normal. The kind of normal that was his life before the Reach made him their murderous puppet.
Bart did it. He did it.
Nathaniel wonders why his memories didn't change with the timeline and knows the answer before he finishes thinking the question. He was too close to the time machine when it left and the chronotron radiation must be effecting his mind.
It would wear off. Already, flashes of his new life come back to him. He's a painter, a husband, a grandfather. He'll forget the years he spent helping Bart build the time machine, forget the boy and the world he was born in ever existed, forget the person he is and be replaced with someone completely different, and Nathaniel is grateful for it.
He heads home, to his house in Happy Harbour, to his family. More and more memories come back to him as he joins them for dinner, for game night, for tucking the children into bed. Neutron recedes from his mind, further and further until it's just a distant memory of his youth. The Flash saved him from mind controlling aliens and he's long past the trauma of it.
"Grandpa, will you tell us a story?" his oldest grandchild asks and the rest of them nod eagerly. They love his stories. Well, he has a new one for them, one that's been growing in the back of his head since he visited the ruins of the Justice League's first base.
"Alright, alright! Listen closely, kids. This is the tale of the boy who saved the world..."

Date: 2015-08-21 04:33 pm (UTC)To be perfectly honest, Methos misses the day of god-kings. He knows they'll come again, but not soon enough, in his opinion. He just hopes that when they do, the internet and AC remains, too, but even if they don't --
Well. He survived before, didn't he. He even thrived, a god and a king and rider of horses.
The children get younger every year, it seems, no matter the centuries that pass. They bleat about morals and right and truth, as though any of those things matter when night falls. Few of them have ever been gods, and even those were not gods like him.
A god-king with a herd of pale horses. Three people in all of history would've understood, and they are gone from his story now.
"Hey, Adam!" Joe calls as he walks into Joe's latest bar. MacLeod is away at a retreat and there's something rising in the air.
He's felt this before, is the thing. The world always warns when a nation is about to fall.
But he just smiles, fathomless and terrible as the ocean, taking the offered beer.
He misses the days of god-kings. And he laughs with Joe, waiting until he can shed all the years, mount the pale horse, and become a god again.
