Tuesday: Conceits
Oct. 13th, 2015 12:01 amHello, it’s Tuesday, I’m still
cascadewaters, and today’s tune is literary conceits. By that, I mean this: http://literarydevices.net/conceit/ (the short version is two concepts or characters so unalike that comparing them in a simile or metaphor is mind-bending.)
To review the rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Examples:
Sword Art Online/Merlin (TV series,) Gwain+Kirito, someone had a brilliant idea to make a gaming helmet look like a knight’s helm—a bit too enthusiastically so –OR- what in the name of St Genevieve had been in that mead last night?!?
Friends, any two of the friends, you cannot disrespect these jeans—they are my Ferrari
Gotham, Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle, playing for jelly beans
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2015 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2015-10-14 12:43 am (UTC)"Don't stress yourself out," Steven replied. "Y'see, life is like a box of chocolates."
"That metaphor doesn't make any sense!" Pearl said. "Is life a heavily processed foodstuff? Is it supposed to be some sugary concoction made with cocoa plants? Are we all just chocolates, kept in the dark for ages until we're swallowed by forces beyond our knowledge or control??"
"That's... not where I was going with that," said Steven.
"Oh," said Pearl.
