Monday: Talking to Yourself

comment_ficHello, everyone. As we wind down the month and the year (I know there's still 2 more weeks, not counting this week), I thought I'd jump in and try my hand at his hosting gig. I hope you like the themes I've come up with!
Today's theme is Talking to Yourself. Prompts can be anything from a few words of (self) encouragement to a way of figuring out a problem to a full, back-and-forth conversation.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]

Danny shook his head as if he could shake the thoughts away. He took another deep breath and shoved his hands in his pockets. “You’ve got this. If he didn’t want this to he wouldn’t have asked. You’ve got this.”
There was a soft knock on the door and Danny rushed to open it. He ran a hand through his hair when he took Steve in. Steve was in black slacks, a deep wine color shirt and he looked twice as nervous as Danny probably looked. He smiled at Steve and with one last whisper to himself he stepped out into the night. “I’ve got this.”
Steve cocked his head to the side and grinned at Danny, “You’ve got what?”
Danny brushed his shoulder against Steve’s with a soft smile on his lips, “This.”

But today as she reaches the beach there are no soldiers, no Mimics, just the stillness of the ocean and the breeze caressing her face. She walks forward, sand getting into her shoes, but she doesn’t pay much attention to it, because she has to reach the woman a few feet away. Rita feels like she’s in a trance, a higher force guiding her steps.
The woman’s dressed in white and gray, her hair matching the garments waving with the wind.
Rita wants to say something, but she doesn’t know where to begin, she knows more of injuries, and training and time loops, yet this is completely different, this feeling inside her chest.
Except she doesn’t have to say a word when she’s met with a pair of blue eyes resembling her own. And Rita understands. The woman’s smile is benign, her wrinkles more apparent, she reaches forward her hand settling on Rita’s cheek. It’s soothing.
She whispers, “Today you will live.”

"If you don't stop talking, I'm gonna squash you," Sam muttered, knowing perfectly well that he was being watched by more than one person. "I'm not kidding. Not even your ants will be able to save you after we leave this building."
"Hey, not cool. It's not like it was my idea," he heard Scott say from where he was sitting on Sam's shoulder. Or at least that's where Sam hoped he was. "It's not my fault that I talk when I'm nervous. Besides, they're staring, so what?"
"Right. It's easy for you to say, because it's not you they're staring at," Sam grumbled, smiling at the elderly lady who was watching him as if he was an alien. "They think I'm talking to myself. That's not suspicious at all."
"Well, you could try ignoring me, you know."
Gritting his teeth, Sam tried to behave as if it was just another regular day, even if it wasn't.
Two days earlier Sam had told Steve that he had no problems with working undercover. He had some experience, he knew how to talk to people, and he knew how to use all that to his advantage. He had also mentioned that he had no problems with working with other people, and that turned out to be a mistake.
The thing was, Scott Lang could be very irritating. He was a good guy, and Sam liked him, but when they ended up working together to get into a building they had to infiltrate, Sam found out that it was nearly impossible for him to ignore Scott’s babbling. He had no idea if Scott was so talkative when he worked with other people, too, but when working with Sam, Scott was talking almost all the time. It was like he was doing it just to annoy Sam.
Sam was supposed to get Scott inside the building without drawing attention to himself, but it was difficult to do when everyone was staring at him because he looked like he was talking to himself.
"That's our target, right?"
Indeed, they did locate the suspicious-looking door, which was, as they had predicted, watched by a suspiciously large number of people in suits.
"Looks like it. Okay, Tic Tac, try not to fall off."
"Only if you try not to squash me."
"I’ll think about it," Sam licked his lips briefly, walking slowly towards the door. "Let’s go."
