"Everyone get out NOW. Hardison, cut the electronics: they have an EMP bomb in there." Eliot calls, quietly as he can.
He can feel the Quickening building behind him as he hauls ass back the way he came.
It may have been over 600 years but it's a very distinctive style of swordplay and he'd rather not lose his head to his ex-lover. He barely escaped the last time and with everything between them Eliot doesn't trust Adam to be merciful a second time.
Eliot's barely cleared the building and thrown his earpiece away when the lightning crackles down the hallway and chases him across the lawn.
Eliot refuses to talk to the team about what happened and what he saw, though he does go back and retrieve the painting before the cops arrive. They're all regular humans and the last thing he needs is for them to get caught up in The Game.

Date: 2016-04-03 02:21 am (UTC)"There was one more," Rachel says. She was named after her Dad's famous cousin. "One human. I tried looking up school records and stuff, but it's no good. I don't even know if it was a boy or girl."
Lupe pokes at her lunch. "Why won't your dad tell you?"
"I don't know."
"I bet it was a girl," Kayla says. She hasn't told anyone else, but her father was an andalite in human form; Rachel thinks it's kind of awesome; she and Kayla have a connection to the Yeerk Wars most of their classmates don't have. "After all, your dad and your Uncle Marco were pretty much in one big bromance. Your Aunt Rachel was super popular, though. Bet it was one of her friends."
"Probably." Rachel sighs. "I wonder if any of us will ever have the chance to do something cool like that."
"Sounds more dangerous than cool," Lupe points out.
Rachel glances at her watch. "Lunch is almost up. I better get going."
"I don't know what you're complaining about," Kayla says. "You get to go to your grandma's animal rescue farm and do work release. We're stuck here."
"All Mom ever lets me do is feed her cranky old hawk." Rachel rolls her eyes. "I swear, she's had that thing since she was my age. It should be dead by now."
"It's still alive because you're taking care of it," Lupe says.
Rachel scoops up her tray and her backpack, says her farewells and heads for the office. She checks herself out, promises to email once she gets to the farm to confirm she's doing what she's supposed to do, and then heads out the front doors, into the sunlight.
She doesn't notice the red-tailed hawk that flies up off the roof of the school, that wheels in the sky above her as she walks to her grandma's farm.
She doesn't notice it swoop into the barn because she heads into the house to say hi to Grandma and do her check-in email.
She has never noticed the way it turns to look at her intently whenever Grandma calls her name.
