Viernes: Movie Quotes
May. 12th, 2016 11:22 pmIt's Friday the 13th! Hopefully your day is full of luck ;) I’m
dreammaidenn and this is my last day as a host and today's theme is Movie Quotes. Prompts can be your favorite quotes, your character talking only in quotes or anything you want the theme to be. Have fun!
Just a few rules:
1. No more than five prompts in a row.
2. No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
3. Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
4. No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
5. If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get started:
*Batman Comics, Jason Todd/Bruce Wayne, I have this condition. It makes me want to kill and fuck all the time.
*Hawkeye, Clint Barton/Kate Bishop, Just because she likes the same bizzaro crap you do doesn't mean she's your soul mate.
*DCU, Roy Harper/Tim Drake, Do you always sleep under your bed, naked? Give me a good morning kiss.
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2016-05-13 06:35 am (UTC)Fill: Part 1 of 2
Date: 2016-05-17 02:05 am (UTC)He hadn’t been a cop. Or a farmer. Never was a family member. No, he had been nothing. Less than nothing. Wouldn’t be remembered after he was gone. Nobody to care. He could have died in the woods and it wouldn’t have changed the world for shit.
After the turn, he had his brother. They found others, but he and his brother kept apart, figuring they could take what they needed and move on. But then he lost his brother. He would lose him again for real later, but the first time had been enough to remind him that he was nobody and didn’t deserve anything but the same.
Then something strange happened. The others began to rely on him. Trust him even. He told himself that they were only using him, taking advantage of skills honed through his shit life in order to deal with the shit world they found themselves in.
Fuck them, he thought. They didn’t give a shit when his brother was left behind on some goddamned building. Why should he care about them? Should just leave and go back to the way it was before. Least then he didn’t have to worry about people relying on him to live. He didn’t need that shit.
Then the girl went missing. And something changed, only this time inside him. He didn’t understand it really. Nobody ever cared about him. Not his drunk of a mother. Not his asshole of a father. Not even his brother.
But it didn’t matter. The change was there and it wouldn’t let him go. So he didn’t let go either. But, as he should have known all along, it didn’t matter, ‘cause the girl was dead. Turned and trapped in a barn like fucking cattle.
But for some damn reason, the change stuck anyway. And the others became more than annoyances, more than just assholes marching behind the string of assholes he’d met through his life. They became friends, something he hadn’t had since he was in grade school, before his mother burned herself up and his father turned his fists to him as a replacement.
And then the farm was overrun and they found the prison. Despite the losses they’d just experienced, they gave into the hope that this place would stand. And so he settled into the prison he swore he would never go, despite the dumb shit his brother often talked him into doing.
New people joined them and they lost others. And then the baby came.
He wasn’t sure what drew him to the squawking little thing, but there he was. And so was she. The one who everyone overlooked unless they needed some chore done or a song to be sung.
To the others, she was a delicate piece of china, something his mother would have bought at a yard sale for too much money only for his father to smash it against the wall just to watch her cry. Delicate things didn’t belong in the world he grew up in and they sure as hell didn’t belong in this one.
But she wasn’t china. He watched her take care of the others, somehow knowing what they needed even when they didn’t. He didn’t know it himself until a boy was dead and he was crying and she was holding him, even though it should have been her that need consoling.
No, she was stronger than any of them gave her credit for.
And then the world invaded their little sanctuary, and people died, others rose, a father lost his head and he was back in the woods. Only this time she was with him.
And he had failed them. Worthless asshole. Only thing worse than him was him thinking he was anything else. He would have just sat there and let the end come. Nobody would remember him either way. Let the fucking world finish the job it had started when he was a kid. Why fucking not?
Her. That was why. She was stronger than they thought, but she still needed help. And so did he, as it turned out.
An evening of booze. A night of fire. A morning of new beginnings.
She opened him up and laid him bare. He answered the question he had always refused to before, telling her of the nobody he was and how the world didn’t give a shit about him and how it would never remember him. And she accepted him.

Date: 2016-05-13 05:27 pm (UTC)"Is that how it works? Hm?" John raised his eyebrows.
Rodney didn't know why John was making him do this. John never went to court. He had as a JAG officer, obviously, but still. It had been years, right?
"Objection," Rodney said, trying to sound firmer.
"Overruled," John said immediately, smirking.
"Oh, no, no, no. No, I strenuously object," Rodney said.
John rolled his eyes. "Oh. Well, if you strenuously object then I should take some time to reconsider."
Rodney felt a whine rising in the back of his throat. He swallowed it down. "John, you're not helping." This was his first trial since the one he'd done at the law school clinic as a 3L. He'd chosen patents because it was relatively low-litigation. Sam was supposed to be the IP litigator, right?
"Your objection is missing a vital component, Rodney."
Rodney tried to peer at the evidence handbook.
John sighed. "What are you objecting to?"
"Hearsay!"
John raised his hands in a small cheer. "Yay! Now, what are all the exceptions to hearsay?"
Rodney groaned. "Really?"
John slid closer to him, leaned in, and caught his gaze, held it. "For every answer you get right, you will get to pick one item off the bedroom list, and I will perform it on demand. So, exceptions to hearsay?"
Rodney fumbled for the evidence handbook.
John caught his wrist, pinned it to his side, and nibbled at Rodney's throat. "Nice try. So, exception one?"
Rodney's eyes rolled back into his head. "Um...present-sense impression?"
"Correct. And?"
And Rodney would memorize all of the rules of evidence if it got him another weekend of this.

Date: 2016-05-13 01:43 pm (UTC)Fill. Stargate: Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay. Canon AU. 1/3
Date: 2016-05-15 09:09 pm (UTC)It'd just... happened between one word and the next and they'd carried on, oblivious.
Reality was this: as Elizabeth had told them of the latest news of and from their allies, John and Rodney had nodded then, inexplicably, rolled back into a tandem seizure event.
“There's nothing in their bloodwork,” Carson assured, though baffled. “Scan is clean on both of them.”
“And there's nothing in the logs to show toxin or gas or an outside source that interfered,” Radek added.
“Could it have been something off-world?”
“Aye. That's always a possibility.”
Elizabeth sighed. “I'll have Teyla and Ronon come down. Maybe you and they can determine some sort of common denominator,” she said, glancing between the two beds. “When do you think they'll wake up?”
“It'll be some hours.”
“All right. I'll check in on them in the morning, then.”
(Morning came, morning went, and still they slept on.)
Rodney had gone off to his lab after the meeting, too many gadgets that needed cataloging and too many requisition requests that needed looking over. Hell, he still had that device from a week prior that seemed to be charging up, but for what, neither he nor Radek could surmise.
“You know, normal people are all in bed by now.”
“And I'm normal?” Rodney snorted, but didn't look up from the database he'd been scrolling through until the screen winked out. “Hey!”
John continued leaning against the doorframe, Atlantean systems quieting down as he smirked at his lover. “It's time for bed, Rodney,” he declared, “That brain of yours needs a rest.”
“My brain never rests.”
“Never? Hm, sounds like a challenge.”
Rodney rolled his eyes at the innuendo. “You're an overgrown teenager.”
“Yep.”
“It's unattractive.”
“No, it's not.”
“It's sickening how sure of yourself you are, Kirk.”
John's smirk widened and he cocked his head to one side. “You gonna stop whining at me because I'm making you leave the lab or do you want me to tell her to lock you out for a couple of hours?”
“You're an asshole.”
One morning fed into the next and the next.
Five days, six, a week, then a month.
Neither John nor Rodney ever stirred: they lay in their infirmary beds, IVs and feeding tubes threading along the sheets and rails. Monitors formed a headboard; large screens with a summary readout was so monotonous Carson barely ever looked it.
“Anything?” Elizabeth asked each time she visited.
“No change,” Carson answered.
Radek officially took over Rodney's duties. That, of course, included the priority lab space, but he couldn't bring himself to touch anything in there that wasn't urgently needed—it remained as Rodney had left it that day.
The same could be said of John's office: Lorne took the necessary paperwork, the booklets and binders for running the military of the colony, and closed off the small room.
As for their quarters...
Elizabeth had struggled with the decision for a long while, having found an odd solace in leaving their belongings as they were. (Maybe just for the illusion that they were merely sleeping and would recover shortly, maybe because both rooms had become places that those closest to the pair went when they needed comfort.)
“We need to prepare for the likelihood that they're...”
Carson leaned over to squeeze one of her hands. “Going to die.”
She swallowed and nodded, trying to keep strong. “There's been no change in any way and we need to be pragmatic now that we're on our own,” she said, catching Ronon's eye, “I'd like us to pack their quarters.”
“Where did you put my pants?”
John shrugged. “You're the one who threw them when you took them off.”
“Yeah, and then you went and folded everything because you're neurotic.”
“I don't remember folding your pants. And I'm military. It's a little different than neurotic.”
“Not during sex!”
Rodney groaned and stopped his frantic searching, standing in one place as he surveyed the room. “Great. I'm going to have to walk back to my quarters in my underwear.”
John looked entirely too proud of himself at that remark; he dodged a pillow when Rodney threw one at his head, laughing even when Rodney called him, “Kirk.”
