Thursday: Minor Characters
Aug. 4th, 2016 12:01 amHello, everyone, I’m
drabblewriter back for day four, and today's theme is minor characters. Today is all about shining the spotlight on those who don't get it in canon.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...

We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Fill: they never dreamed of ruins | G | tw for children dying fairytale deaths
Date: 2016-08-04 07:38 am (UTC)The other children will lose the place they call home, soon enough having only the woods to surround them.
No one thinks dead children care about where they live, that it doesn't matter if there is a roof over their heads or blankets around their shoulders. No one thinks that dead children care about much of anything.
But they've grown to love the house, love the warmth of the oven, love the sweet smell of candy in the sunlight. No, the witch was never cared for but her home had become theirs.
It's falling apart now, windows breaking, doors cracking beneath the elements. They're going to lose the only good thing the witch ever did for them and they're going to lose it soon.
They never wanted to live in ruins, never wanted to exist within the scraps of what had once been their prison but there isn't anything to be done.
Time moves on, people move on, the house falls apart and yet the children will remain.

and went back to sleep
Half an hour later there was a further text. Greg put out an arm to reach his phone. His partner pulled him back, but not before he had read:
Now on second solution
The next two texts were ignored. There may have been a fifth, but at that point Greg was rather pre-occupied and neither heard nor cared.
The last text, and the one which finally dragged him out of bed, said merely:
OOPS

Date: 2016-09-28 05:17 pm (UTC)The Corps is Mother,
All children get out of line at times, it's the nature of children. Sometimes children need a helping hand, a gentle touch, to set them back on the right path.
All children are sometimes wayward. Telepaths are no different than children sometimes, and it's his job to bring them back into the fold where they belong, where they can be looked after.
Watched over.
The Corps is Father,
Sometimes though, children needed a firmer hand. Willful, rebellious streaks were present in all children, and sometimes that streak remained though adulthood. The Corps' work was his life's work, and sometimes that work included discipline. This discipline just so happened to take place in the mind, behind walls no officer could see.
No one could see.
Mundanes aren't supposed to see. They wouldn't understand. Children always scream and cry before they're punished. Rogues aren't any different, but the need for redirection is the same.
Later, when they had seen the error of the rebel path they had taken, or what would have happened to them (insanity.no family. no home.a life on the run.), they would thank him.
Trust the Corps.
