Monday: Historical AU
Aug. 8th, 2016 12:06 amHello, everyone. I’m
tigriswolf and today's theme is historical AUs. By this, I mean changing one event in history, like a death or the outcome of a battle, anything like that. You can also put your favorite characters into another era, of course.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Historical, author's choice, if Columbus' three ships had sunk
+ Historical, author's choice, if only [person] hadn't died then
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

"This week she's decided she's Christian. I'll bet Mom's totally freaking out."
Tasha's sister was a rebel, always trying new things on for size. "That's the thing I don't get," Jennifer said. "I mean, Christianity died out pretty quickly after it started. The Lions in the Colosseum took care of that. There are almost no records about how the practice of the religion works."
"I know, right?" Tasha picked up her phone and stared at the ridiculous message from her sister again. "Christianity, pretending to be an ancient religion since 1958. Christianity is for the lazy and squeamish, is what it is. They make up their rules, and their rules are so undemanding. Be nice. Read a book. Pray a little. No real hard work. No real sacrifices."
"Well, hard work is what gets results." Jennifer straightened her blouse, checked herself in the mirror, then poked in her wallet to make sure she had enough money. "C'mon, I want to swing by Athena's temple and leave something on her altar before my first exam."
Tasha raised her eyebrows. "Athena's temple? Don't you mean Venus's temple, so you can get a boyfriend?"
"Shut up." Jennifer swatted Tasha on the shoulder, and together they headed for the door.

Date: 2016-09-29 10:14 pm (UTC)A figure in a red toga suddenly hove into view atop the nearby temple building, and leapt down off the side into a dark alley and out of the sight and collective memory of the populace (they were by now used to him, it seemed).
A few ruffians brandishing short swords had surrounded the Vestal Virgin and one had already torn her veil, to which she clung stubbornly, sobbing hyterically at the threatening figures.
Petros aimed his webbing at two of them, and blinded them almost instantly, spinning a new web almost instantly that lassoed the remaining ruffians together, leaving them all in a heap of ineffective ex-Legionaries, cursing the Virgin, their luck and Pteros' ancestry with equal vehemence.
The Virgin had ceased calling out, but she looked warily at Petros all the same.
"Did they dishonour you?"
"Only by destrying my suffibulum - and the Holy Mother won't allow me another," she replied in a very put-out tone of voice.
"Let me see what I can do," Petros offered.
She held up the damaged material, which Petros saw had torn relatively simply. His webbing made short work of the damage, and he handed it back to her.
"Spidersilk suffibulum - all the others will be very jealous," he joked, then, before she could thank him properly, he sent a strong thread off to the top of the nearby insulae and leapt away.
Hominis Spider, Hominis Spider, quod non potest a tinea...

Date: 2016-08-08 04:10 pm (UTC)The pirates all stepped aside, kicking the dead bodies out of the way as a cloaked figure made their way along the deck and towards the captain's quarters of the captured ship. The captain inside stood taller, refusing to be intimidated by anyone.
"Tell me, captain, why have you boarded my ship?" the man said and the figure laughed before removing their hood, revealing a mess of blonde hair. The captain looked confused. "You are a woman."
She laughed and unsheathed her sword, pointing it towards the man. "I am a captain. Captain Saxa of The Siren." The man's eyes went wide. There had been rumors of a pirate ship captained by a woman, her crew made of the slaves she freed. He shuddered as she thought about what he had below decks. Until now, he did not believe the rumors. No one who survived ever laid eyes on the captain of the ship. Saxa thrust her sword against the man's stomach, just barely cutting skin. It was a warning. "My crew has informed me of the people you hold captive below."
"I am under orders to-"
"Captain!"
Saxa looked over her shoulder at the very tall man standing in the doorway, head bowed. "Yes, Agron?"
"Belesa is not among them."
Saxa turned back towards the other captain and slid her sword through his gut. The man gasped and fell to the ground. Saxa wiped her sword off on the back of his coat and turned away. "Release the slaves and bring them aboard, give them food and water and make sure Sura looks over them."
"And the ship?"
Saxa sheathed her sword and paused. "Search it for anything valuable, give the remainder of the crew a choice to surrender or go down with this ship."
"Aye, Captain."

Date: 2016-09-29 10:51 pm (UTC)"Why, Bruce, I had no idea you were so adventurous," Tony grinned, "I would have paid someone at the Buco if I'd known..."
"SSShhhh! Tony!" Bruce hissed, "I know you feel perfectly safe in your mechanical suit, but the Office of the Night has ears everywhere! And if consequences to yourself from your loose tongue don't faze you, you might consider what big, green problem would arise if I get thrown into Le Stinche!"
"Indeed, and I would prefer not to revisit my recent trial because my visitor likes to make a certain type of joke, should certain ears be listening today," came a mildly chiding voice from somewhere in the middle of the clutter. "Especially as our meeting is already somewhat clandestine - I would hate to give The Eight any more reason to pay me attention."
"Sorry," said an unrepentant Tony, shrugging, "I guess I need to watch my lips - or was it tongue?"
Bruce made a pained noise. "Tony, this is Leonardo. He believes that he can make your mechanical suit fly."
Leonardo stood up from the spot where he had been crouched on the floor, doing... something... and stretched out a hand for Tony to shake. He offered Bruce a genial nod.
"Waitwaitwait - Leonardo? The artist? The mathematician? The engineer? The one who designed that enormous crossbow?" Tony's voice grew progressively higher in pitch as his excitement grew.
"Leonardo di Ser Piero da Vinci, at your service," Leonardo bowed elegantly to Tony, who was not-quite hyperventilating.
"You, sir, are awesome. I love what you do. It is an honour to meet you, and how do you know Bruce?"
Leonardo looked at Bruce, Bruce looked at Leonardo, both men shrugged.
"We just know each other," Bruce said nonchalantly.
"You guys met at the Buco?"
Bruce sighed and rolled his eyes. "Yeah."
"We should go there a lot more often."

A/N: The Buco is an infamous gay bar from the Renaissance, from before gay bars were a mainstream thing (and for want of a better term)
