Tuesday Fun with: Autumn
Oct. 11th, 2016 02:45 pmHello, everyone.
Sorry for being late today, but LJ refuses to let me in for hours. :(
I’m
prisca1960 and today's theme is 'Autumn'. Prompts can be anything related to this wonderful time of the year = colorful trees, kites, evenings in front of the fireplace, an autumn poem/song ... But remember: autumn is also the beginning of the dark time of the year = cold and rainy nights, dust in the air, the perfect setting for a vampire story = Halloween is calling ;)
Have fun! Let your phantasie run wild! Give us great prompts, write amazing stories ...
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Penny dreadful; Ethan Chandler; dreaming of long gone, warm summer days
+ Hawaii Five-O; Danny Williams; flying a kite
+ The Walking Dead; Daryl Dixon & Beth Green; sitting at a campfire
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2016-10-11 09:45 pm (UTC)Joe put the rake away with a happy, if tired, sigh, rubbed his aching back as he walked into the house. Instantly, his skin tingled as the air changed from the chill of fall to the warmth of the house and he grinned at Caitlin as she looked up at him from where she was lying on the couch, dropping her book onto her knees. "You're finished?" She sounded happy to hear it and he nodded as he hung up his coat, rubbed his hands together.
"Tell me," he asked with a rueful grin as he stretched, "how is it I have two sons and still have to rake leaves myself?"
Caitlin grinned. "Well, I did offer to help..." She broke off with a strangled little yelp as he picked up her ankles and dropped down onto the couch beside her, propping her legs up on his lap. "Your hands are freezing."
"Well then I guess snuggling's just gonna have to wait until I'm warmed up, isn't it?" Which, if the roaring fire was anything to go by, wouldn't be too much longer. Possibly even sooner than that because Caitlin reached out and put her now closed book on the coffee table, scooted a little closer to him, then a little closer still so that she was actually sitting more or less on his knee.
He had no complaints about that, pulled her closer against his chest, nuzzled into her neck until he heard as well as felt her giggle. "Maybe not," she allowed and he grinned as he lifted his head and pressed his lips to hers.
He drew back when there was a taste on her lips that was familiar and as he took a deep breath, he caught a scent in the air that he'd missed when he first came in. Tilting his head, he looked at her, lifting one eyebrow in question. "Is that what I think it is?"
Caitlin glanced at the mug still steaming on the coffee table. "Hot apple cider." She wrinkled her nose. "I don't know... I'm not sure if the virgin version tastes quite right..." His fingers, now apparently warm enough not to cause a squeal, ghosted over her stomach, pulling at the stretched material of her shirt, a sign of the miracle that they had neither had expected nor planned for, the surprise that was just now starting to become obvious. "Want to taste it?"
Joe's hand stilled, but the flesh underneath gave the tiniest ripple. "I'd love some," he heard his own voice say. "And I bet it's going to be perfect."

Date: 2016-10-11 01:57 pm (UTC)Fill: Complimenting Clashes
Date: 2016-10-11 10:48 pm (UTC)Clashes in decorating style were the norm for Clara and Amy, and this autumn turned out to be no different. Amy always leaned toward a more rural, country feel: roses made out of dried leaves, gourds, burlap-wrapped jars, leaves over the chalkboard on the pantry, and late-season sunflowers tied with soft cornflower blue ribbons, that sort of thing.
Clara always leaned more toward contemporary touches: place mats of black and white stripes to accent the orange pumpkins, stark black, white and gold typography, paper-quilled leaves in unnaturally dark colors instead of real ones, long tapered candles, tall faux-iron lanterns with dusky gold painted pumpkins glistening at their bases, a sparse sunburst wreath made entirely of bare twigs.
One thing they agreed on, as they rearranged, play-argued and melded their styles, is there would be absolutely, always, be a painted mini-pumpkin and a place at the table for the Raggedy Man.

Date: 2016-10-12 11:00 am (UTC)He trudged through bush wood and colorful leaves until he finally stopped under a big oak tree. Frowning Jeremiah watched him kneeling down, then he pushed the leaves apart and grabbed for a small, gray bundle. A wide smile on his face he came back to the jeep.
Jeremiah stared at the bludge of his jacket.
"What's that," he asked.
Kurdy opened his zip and a skinny, gray-striped cat stared at Jeremiah with wide open eyes. Reassuring Kurdy stroke over her head.
"Shhshh," he murmured.
"Everything is okay. You are safe now."
Jeremiah groaned inwardly, this was so Kurdy, the big guy had a much too soft heart. It was a wonder that he had been able to survive in this world for so long.
"Marcus will be thrilled to welcome this new resident in the Mountain."
Kurdy grinned unfazed.
"Oh, the kitty won't stay for long. Next week I will go to the school with Smith, we want to help to repair the roof. Sister Hannah won't mind to give it a home and the children will love it."
Jeremiah just rolled his eyes and the cat meowed softly.

Date: 2017-12-27 05:49 pm (UTC)__________
Winn wrapped a jacked tighter around himself, then hid his hands back in the pockets right away. It looked like Kara was right after all, when she suggested that he might want to start wearing a warmer jacket. Well, at least it wasn’t raining. Small miracles.
Rain would be the last thing Winn needed after dealing with strange alien goo that apparently had a thing for plants on Earth. Also, it took him five hours to fix James’ costume this time. Five hours. Winn was tired. Fortunately, now that the next crisis was averted, he could go home, make a cup of warm cocoa and watch something hilariously bad
What he didn’t expect, however, was to find Clark Kent standing in front of the door to his apartment, holding a big cup in each hand.
“What are you doing here?” Winn licked his lips briefly. “Did something happen?”
“No,” Clark answered, raising both cups a little higher. “You sounded like you could use some hot cocoa when you called me earlier. I hope you don’t mind.”
Winn felt he was blushing, though if anyone asked, he would totally blame his red cheeks on being cold. He couldn’t help smiling at the gentle tone of Clark’s voice, though. How could anyone resist that guy?
Sometimes Winn still couldn’t quite believe that Clark had agreed to go out with him three months earlier. Winn was dating Superman. How awesome was that? Clark was amazing. And apparently he must have been reading Winn’s mind, because how else could he have known about how much was Winn thinking about hot cocoa?
“No, of course not,” Winn stepped closer to Clark and pressed his lips to the corner of his boyfriend’s mouth in a quick kiss. “I just wasn’t expecting you. Not that I’m complaining, of course! I mean, come on in.”
As they both entered the apartment, and took their boots and jackets off, Clark handed him one cup carefully. “Kara told me what happened today. I took tomorrow off, so I can stay with you tonight, if you want.”
“That would be awesome, actually.”
After they both sat down on the couch, Winn wrapped both hands around his cup, enjoying the way it warmed his cold fingers. When Clark wrapped one arm around his shoulders a few seconds later, Winn snuggled closer to his boyfriend right away.
Clark was the best boyfriend ever.

Date: 2016-10-11 11:03 pm (UTC)Years later, even when his head was nearly white but he was still the same lanky man who was far too adept at running, squeezing his body into spaces it shouldn't get into, he still came when autumn called. Now he knew no one would recognize him.
They had trains into New York, and even the short ride almost did his temper in, but the walk to Central Park assuaged that.
And if, on some days, he saw a softly handsome blond man holding coffee for an exquisite redhead and hot chocolate for their adopted son, well, when they passed they would only see another gently aging gentleman carving time under the leaves, sad about something in that way so many older men seemed to be, the kind of sad that smiles at you when you pass, somehow joyful and sorrowful in the crisping air.

Date: 2016-10-11 07:35 pm (UTC)Fill: MCU, Pepper Potts/Wanda Maximoff – “A New Sweater”
Date: 2017-12-27 05:52 pm (UTC)The thing was, her wardrobe for autumn and winter consisted primarily of sweaters, something Pietro had loved to tease her about. Now that she lived in the Avengers Tower though, she noticed how many sweater she actually owned.
Smiling to herself, she picked the sweater she received from Natasha a week earlier, since she didn’t have a chance to wear it just yet. It was soft and had a lovely, deep red color. After putting it on, she went to the kitchen to make tea for herself and for Pepper, who texted her earlier to let her know that she should be back from a business meeting soon.
When the elevator door opened twenty minutes later, and Pepper walked out holding a paper bag in one hand, Wanda went to greet her right away.
“It’s a miracle that I managed to finish the meeting earlier,” Pepper said, and when Wanda wrapped her arms around her girlfriend’s waist and pulled her into a kiss, Pepper moaned quietly. “Tea?”
“I made some for you, too,” Wanda hid a few locks of hair behind one ear.
Once they both sat down on the sofa, Pepper took out two croissants out of the bag she brought and handed one to Wanda. However, instead of picking up the second one, like Wanda expected her to do, Pepper leaned against Wanda and put her head on Wanda’s shoulder.
“You don’t even know how glad I am that I don’t have to attend any more meetings today,” Pepper said, pressing her face against Wanda’s sweater-covered shoulder gently, before looking up at her.“It’s a new sweater, isn’t it? I don’t remember seeing it before.”
“Natasha gave it to me,” Wanda smiled, putting down a half eaten croissant, before hiding her hands in the slightly too long sleeves.
“It’s nice,” Pepper kissed Wanda’s cheek. “You know what? How about we go out tonight? There’s this lovely Greek place I wanted to take you to for a while.”
Wanda, who bit into her croissant again, licked her lips briefly. “I should probably change, then.”
“You don’t have to,” Pepper never stopped smiling, not letting Wanda move from the sofa. “You look lovely.”
Wanda felt herself blush once again.
In the end, they went to the restaurant an hour later than Wanda expected, since both of them were too comfortable to move.
Later that night, though, when Pepper asked her to take the sweater off, Wanda decided that she would have to thank Natasha again. Maybe she would buy the leather jacket they had talked about some time ago? Natasha would definitely like it.
