Incorrect Wednesday
Dec. 28th, 2016 11:58 amHello all, I'm
classics_lover and I'm too sad over Carrie Fisher's death to be witty today. Today's theme is Incorrect Quotes. Pick your fandom and characters, and pick a quote from elsewhere that fits - or doesn't. Maybe somebody tells Tony Stark he's too short to be a Stormtrooper. Maybe one person has as many as seven feelings for someone else.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ MCU, Tony Stark +/ Pepper Potts, "I'd as soon kiss a Wookiee!"
+ Lucifer (TV), any, Sometimes you can only find heaven by slowly backing away from hell.
+ Star Wars, Leia Organa, "Oh, screw beautiful. I’m brilliant. If you want to appease me, compliment my brain."
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2016-12-28 12:48 pm (UTC)We're not ready? They're not ready! They think we're gonna wait for the end to come, like we always do. I'm done waiting. They want an apocalypse? Well, we'll give 'em one. Anyone else who wants to run, do it now, 'cause we just became an army. We just declared war. From now on, we won't just face our worst fears, we will seek them out. We will find them, and cut out their hearts, one by one, until they showthemselves for what they really are and I'll kill them myself. There is only one thing in this galaxy more powerful than evil. And that's us. Any questions?

Date: 2016-12-29 02:49 am (UTC)Evan shrugged one shoulder. He’d picked up a disturbing number of mannerisms from John. “No clue. He’s the protocol droid.”
“My best guess,” Rodney said quietly, “is he’s telling them, well, the story of us.”
Rodney, John, Jeannie, Ronon, and Evan were sitting on the back row of the little audience, being the tallest and being the outsiders.
“What makes you say that?” John asked.
“See where Daniel’s holding his nose?” Rodney pointed. “That’s where Chewie over there refused to save himself on the prison transport.”
Ronon growled. “Was that the part where you said ‘I couldn’t care less what you smell’?”
Rodney eyed Chewie and lifted his chin defiantly. “Someone had to save our skins. It was the garbage chute or death.”
“The garbage chute where Jeannie was almost eaten by a garbage monster and all of us were almost crushed by the garbage compactor,” John muttered.
Daniel looked like he was demonstrating a slide with his hands. Some of the Ewoks made enchanted cooing sounds, but a couple of them wrinkled their noses, and one Ewok covered her child’s eyes.
“I wish I could’ve said it,” Jeannie said. She cleared her throat and adopted her most stern and Rodney-like expression - which made her look a lot more like Rodney than Rodney was comfortable with, given how many times he’d kissed her - and intoned, “Into the garbage chute, flyboy.”
“Why ‘flyboy’?” Evan asked.
“Old slang for pilot,” Rodney said.
“An insult for a pilot,” John said.
Evan nodded, likely processing and storing the information away.
“What about a pilot like me?” Jeannie asked. “Would I be a flygirl?”
“Sounds logical,” Evan said.
John got that adorably confused look on his face that Rodney had the stupid urge to kiss away. “No, it doesn’t quite make sense.”
“What about a flylady?” Jeannie asked.
Evan shook his head. “That’s less logical. Otherwise it would be flyman. Or perhaps flylord? But since it is flyboy, the parallel must obviously be flygirl.”
Jeannie patted Evan’s hand gently. “Your dedication to your logic is crazy but kinda cute.”
Evan stared down at her hand on his, baffled.
She smiled at him and leaned in, kissed him on the cheek, which made his blue eyes go wide, and then she stood up and ducked out of the hut. Rodney followed her out onto one of the wicker walkways.
“Look, Jeannie, about you and me - and me and John -”
“John’s only ever had eyes for you,” Jeannie said. “And I get it. I really do. If I thought John was interested in me, I’d have gone for it. But he’s all yours.”
Rodney sighed, stared down at Jeannie. The moonlight made her golden hair gleam silver, made her skin pale, like a lovelorn ghost from stories of old. “About tomorrow -”
“Tomorrow you and General Sheppard are going to storm the base, cut the shield power to the new Death Star, and our rebel flyboys and flygirls are going to end the Death Star forever,” Jeannie said.
“And you?” Rodney asked.
Jeannie shrugged and smiled, like she didn’t have a care in the world. “I’m going to face Darth Merat.”
“But -”
“I have to.”
“Why?”

Date: 2016-12-28 03:45 pm (UTC)Fill : The Flash, Joe/Caitlin
Date: 2016-12-28 10:53 pm (UTC)Caitlin looks up as Joe walks into STAR Labs. There's a frown on his face that she's often seen when he walks in here, a slump to his shoulders that she hasn't seen since Barry woke up, certainly since they've become what they've become. Over the last year, when he's walked into STAR Labs and found her alone in the cortex, frowning had been the last thing on his mind.
Then again, today has been an exceptional day.
Truth be told, Caitlin's been annoyed with him all day. One look, though, and her annoyance melts away like mist in the morning. She stands, walks over to him and takes his hand in hers. "Rough day."
It's not a question and he nods. "Iris did not take it well," he says and Caitlin winces, having guessed that she wasn't going to. "She's staying at Eddie's tonight... says she doesn't know when she's coming back," he continues and that does make her blink in surprise. Not even when Iris had found out about them had she reacted like that.
"She's hurt, Joe, and angry... she'll come around."
Except she's not so sure about that and from the look on Joe's face, he's not so sure about that either. "She's been mad at me before," he told her. "Lots of times. I've never seen her mad like this." He shakes his head. "I lied to her for twenty years, Caitlin... I let her think her mother was dead. How is she supposed to forgive that?"
"She'll talk to you when she's ready," Caitlin tells him. "And you'll explain it, just like you did to me. It may take time... but you two are too close for anything else."
Joe sighs. "I hope you're right."
Stepping into his body, Caitlin puts her arm around his waist, lays her head on his shoulder. She feels his cheek rest against the side of her head, feels another sigh ruffle her hair as his hand moves up and down her back. He squeezes their still joined hands before he speaks again. "What about us?" The question hangs between them as Caitlin lifts her head to look into his eyes. "I know... last night... you were mad..."
"I was. I still am." She's honest with him - this is not a time for lies. "But I understand why you made the choice you did... And I understand why you couldn't exactly go back on it and start telling the truth. But Joe..." She takes a deep breath, doesn't blink as she looks at him. "No more secrets."
Joe doesn't pause, nods immediately. "No more secrets." Sincerity rings in every syllable and Caitlin feels herself relaxing, feels herself starting to smile. "So..." Joe says, like he wants to be sure, "you still my girl?"
At that, Caitlin does smile. "Always," she says and she seals that with a kiss.

Date: 2016-12-28 06:15 pm (UTC)Fill: Leaning is Wanting and Accepting 1/2
Date: 2017-01-09 12:37 am (UTC)"One week!" Danny yells, gesturing wildly with his arms as he strides over to Steve. "One week out of town and you get yourself into trouble! I should never leave you alone."
Steve grins as if Danny isn't incredibly annoyed with him right now. "Hi, Danno. I missed you."
"Don't you dare, 'Hi, Danno,' me!" Danny pulls Steve into his arms, and Steve falls into the embrace, letting his head rest against Danny's chest. He holds Steve for several seconds. Danny sighs, and his voice softens. "When Chin told me what happened to you..."
Steve pulls back only a few inches to make eye contact with Danny. "Chin was probably just exaggerating. It's not that bad."
Danny's hands are still resting on Steve's shoulder blades. "Not that bad?! Babe, a car ran over your foot..."
Steve shrugs. "Better than the rest of me. Besides, it's not like I broke anything."
Danny opens his mouth, prepared to start ranting about how you don't need to break bones to have a serious injury, when the nurse or doctor from earlier speaks. "Excuse me, sir, who are you?"
Danny turns towards her, finally letting his hands fall away from Steve. She's new, and Danny isn't surprised that he doesn't recognize her. Most people at Tripler know him pretty well by now. "I'm Danny Williams. I'm his partner."
The doctor frowns and searches through the medical chart she is holding. "I didn't see anything in here about a marriage or domestic partnership..."
Danny is too flummoxed to respond. He's choking on air like some kind of fish that washed up on land.
Steve answers. "He meant cop partner, not domestic partner. But he can stay."
The woman blushes, and her eyes widen. She seems embarrassed. "Oh, my mistake." She flips a page and smiles at what she finds. "Well, he is your emergency contact and medical power of attorney," she murmurs. She rearranges her chart and looks up at Danny. "He can stay."
The doctor informs Steve that he did, in fact manage to avoid breaking any bones, but he did sustain some serious bruises on his foot. She advises him to stay on crutches for next few weeks and to come in for a checkup two weeks from now.

Cisco was affecting a slow, slightly Bogie-esque drawl and it made Caitlin laugh as she turned to look at him. "What are you talking about?"
With a grin that stretched as broadly as the Cheshire Cat's, Cisco shrugged. "Just working on my speech," he said airily. "What, too much?"
Caitlin turned back to the mirror, adjusting her necklace, her ear-rings, her hair. "Just a little."
"Would you stop fussing? You know you look amazing." Cisco appeared at her side, his grin softer, but no less wide. "Joe's going to flip when he sees you."
She felt her cheeks flush and she ran her hands down her dress, smoothing out any non existent wrinkles. "I just want things to be perfect," she heard herself say and another person might have started to reassure her then. Cisco just laughed.
"It will be." He didn't sound like he had a doubt in the world. "Sure, you two had a bumpy start, can't deny that, but it all worked out in the end. And Caitlin... this is just the beginning." His eyes were dancing with sheer delight, his smile infectious as ever and Caitlin found herself smiling back. Just then a knock came to the door and both their heads swung around to it before turning back to one another.
"Well?" Cisco held out his arm, bent at the elbow, to Caitlin. "Caitlin Snow... it would be my honour to escort you down the aisle."
She'd expected some quip about finally getting to give her away, having been trying to for years. His obvious sincerity brought tears to her eyes and she fought them back. No way was she ruining her makeup and making them late.
"The honour," she said, "is all mine."
