Love on Monday
Jan. 16th, 2017 07:59 amMorning, y'all! I’m
schweinsty and today's theme is love. Prompts can be anything having to do with those warm, fuzzy feelings that make the world go 'round-platonic, romantic, familial-the world is your oyster.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+Enchanted Forest Chronicles, Morwen + Mendanbar, Greater love hath no witch than this, than she doesn't turn you into a frog if you dog-ear her books
+Stargate: SG-1, Daniel Jackson/Vala Mal Doran, “I love you.”/”I know.”
+The Martian, Mark Watney, You never know how much you love something until you suddenly have it again after being stranded Mars for over a year
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-01-16 11:20 pm (UTC)Lucifer's mouth pulled in a quizzical manner. "Right, Mum," he said. "I have work to do." He darted off before she could properly frame a protest, leaving Amenadiel with his head dipped down.
"You understand don't you, Amenadiel?" Charlotte took his hand between hers, squeezing it gently, pulling it up to cradle against her. "How much I want to do this, to prove to your father that all of us have our place, that all of us are good. I love you - all of you, not just you and Lucifer - and we should all be together again."
Amenadiel inhaled deeply, let the breath out slow. "I'll go talk to him," he said.
Charlotte ducked her head so she could peer into his dark eyes. "You promise?"
His smile was weak but true. "I promise, Mother."
She released Amenadiel, watching as he walked to the elevator and the doors closed behind him. Her own smile curled the corners of her mouth, wicked and sharp as a demon-forged blade. "Yes, I love you both," she whispered, "but like they say, 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'." She tipped her head back, gazing at the sky out the window and beyond. "You hear that, right?"
God didn't answer, not that she expected him to. His ignoring her wouldn't last forever, though. When she returned to Heaven with Amendadiel and Lucifer at her sides, she'd show that great oaf the powers she held - and how much a mother's love could inspire her sons.

Once you get it - you're in an awful fix
After you've had it - you never want to quit

Date: 2021-01-19 06:02 pm (UTC)She had a strong feeling she wouldn't.
**
So many times she told herself she couldn't go into his shop, at least as many times as she whispered recommendations into people's ears, quietly spelling flyers and posters to avoid the rain and stay beautiful, attractive.
She told herself there wasn't any point in it. It couldn't be, but the scent of what she wanted, the sight of him happy, baking, smiling and pleasing people, was as powerful as the scent of baking bread, and so one day, she could stop herself no more (she'd never really wanted to stop herself anyway.) So one day she smoothed her dress, put on her favorite earrings, and stepped into the world he had created.
The smells of bread and caramelized sugar, fruit and chocolate were enticing enough, but the sight of his smile was even more so. She felt something click back into place, some weight lift that she hadn't known had been pressing her down, keeping her steps from being as light as they should have been.
He smiled back, not remembering, of course, but unable to resist her beautiful smile.

Date: 2017-01-17 05:04 am (UTC)"Yeah, that must have been before the divorce."
"So...?"
"Oh, no. God, no. No, it was the dotcom billionaire smartass named McKay."
"Not Rodney McKay?"
"You have one too, huh? Is he a jerk in your universe?"
"Some people think so."
"Our Sam always said there was a side of him that no one else saw.")
Evan hadn't been lying to Lieutenant Colonel Carter. The Major Carter of his universe had never been married to him.
But there was that one time, on that one planet, when they were trapped in the village square, bound together and awaiting certain death (a man standing over them with an axe for beheading), and Evan had turned to her and said,
"Any last words?"
Because even though they were on an alien planet, they always carried some of Earth with them.
And Sam - she'd kissed him.
And then the rest of SG-1 arrived with reinforcement, and there was shooting and screaming, and the executioner went down and Teal'c used the axe to break the chains binding them to the execution stone, and they fled to the gate, and on the other side of the gate there were medical checks and debriefings and writing mission reports and finally getting some sleep, and they didn't have a chance to talk about it till two weeks later.
"Evan," Sam said. They were both Majors, and they'd been friends at the Academy and at flight school. They were on a first-name basis. They'd both joined the SGC as captains.
"Sam."
"About that kiss."
Evan bit his lip. "Yeah. About that."
"Listen, sometimes intense situations blur the line between friends and lovers." Sam had cornered him in his office, and she was keeping her voice low.
"Sometimes they do."
"We're still friends, right?"
It was like a blow to the stomach, but Evan nodded, kept his expression neutral. "We're still friends."
Sam squeezed his shoulder. "Thanks. And I'm sorry I made it weird."
"We were about to die. And it's the SGC. Weird things happen all the time." Evan managed a smile and was proud that it came out all right, that Sam didn't notice the fracture behind it.
"So true." Sam laughed and ducked out of his office, and Evan went back to work.
And then, three weeks later, she died in her lab, and Lieutenant Colonel Carter appeared in her place.
(The first time Sam stepped foot on Atlantis as its new leader, she was greeted by John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, Teyla Emmagan, Radek Zelenka, and Evan Lorne. She'd only encountered him occasionally at the SGC during his tenure as 2IC of SG-11, and once or twice on Atlantis when she was visiting with SG-1. She remembered that other Evan Lorne, from an alternate universe, and the photo of them together, and how he'd laughed with her and smiled with her and genuinely grieved for the other her, and wondered what this Evan Lorne was like.
She found out what he tasted like, during the insanity with the memory-wiping virus. But afterward they both remembered who they were, and she pretended to forget that kiss.)

Date: 2017-01-16 07:02 pm (UTC)Alec reached out and gently took his husband's hand, pulling the warlock into the seat next to him. "Stop worrying," Alec whispered, wrapping his arms around Magnus and holding him tightly.
"I'm sorry, darling. I'm just nervous. I've lived a long time and this is my first child," He leaned back against Alec and sighed. "I'm going to be a dad. We're going to be dads."
Alec smiled. "I know. I'm really nervous too. What if I'm a terrible dad?"
"I've seen how you are with your siblings, Alexander," Magnus said. "You are going to be a fantastic dad. I, on the other hand, usually stay away from children so this really is new territory with me. I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe we're really doing this."
"Well, there's no turning back now. Soon we'll be holding our baby."
"Mr. and Mr. Lightwoood-Bane?"
Magnus immediately stood up, pulling Alec up with him. "Yes?"
"Would you like to meet your daughter?"
"A girl? It's a girl?"
The nurse nodded and smiled. "It's a girl."
They followed the nurse to the room Lydia was in, the shadowhunter cradling the new parents' child against her chest as she fed. She looked up at them and smiled. "Hey."
"You look exhausted," Alec said, walking over and placing a hand on her shoulder. His eyes fell on the small bundle in her arms with a mess of black hair. His heart started to swell.
"She's not done feeding yet," Lydia said. "But she is beautiful. I can assure you of that. We make pretty babies, Alec."
Alec laughed and wrapped an arm around Magnus' waist. The warlock hadn't taken his eyes off the small bundle since they walked through the door. He reached out and placed a hand on the child's head, gently running his fingers over her curls. "Alec. Alec, she's here," He whispered. "And she's ours."
"I know, Magnus. I know."
The bundle fussed and turned her head away from Lydia's chest, giving Alec and Magnus their first good look of their daughter. Magnus gasped. "Oh, she looks just like you, Alexander," He said. "She's beautiful."
Alec couldn't help but smile. "She is."
Lydia lifted her up and Alec carefully took the bundle, holding her against his chest. He stared at her in awe, unable to believe that this tiny human was real, that she was his.
Magnus laid a hand on his husband's arm and looked down at her. "What should we name her?"
"I know we've gone over names before, but now that I'm looking at her, none of them seem to fit."
"May I make a suggestion?" Lydia asked.
"You gave us the most precious gift ever, of course you can make a suggestion, Lydia," Magnus said.
"There was a mundane story that Clary read a few months ago and I liked. The character's name in it was Briar Rose."
Magnus and Alec looked at each other for a moment before looking down at their daughter who had fallen asleep. Magnus smiled and gently ran his finger down the girl's cheek. "Briar Rose Lightwood-Bane. I like it."
"Me too," Alec replied. He started to hum and gently rock. "Welcome to the family, Briar Rose."

Date: 2017-01-28 08:32 pm (UTC)Home sweet home was waking up to freshly made coffee and warm pancakes dribbled with sticky-sweet syrup, his snow shoes tucked by the door over the sign that fondly declared ‘home, sweet, home.’
It was the way they giggle when they shared a honey kiss, both grinning like fools in love. Love was Jeff’s possessiveness of Jensen—him whispering “Mine, you belong to me, all mine.” It was hot passionate kisses. Love was them grinding and writhing together in sensual bliss.
Love was the afterglow in the way Jeff held Jensen lovingly and looked at him with fondness and friendship, and passionate adoration. Love was them kissing and snuggling, and holding onto the happiness between them.
