Happy Endings on Thursdays!
Jan. 19th, 2017 08:54 amGood day! I’m
schweinsty and today's theme is happy endings! We tend to put our favs through a lot of pain in this comm, but it can be just as fun to write about some better times. Prompts should feature a happy ending (your definition of 'happy' may vary) for your characters--post-canon, AU, an 'ending' to a smaller part of the story during canon--the world is your oyster.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The Force Awakens, Poe Dameron/Snap Wexley, The first time they kiss after the war ends
+ Rogue One, Bodhi Rook + Baze Malbus/Chirrut Imwe,It takes him weeks after Scarif to realize they've taken him in as their family
+ Star Wars, Luke Skywalker/Wedge Antilles, The end of the war is only the beginning of another story
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-01-24 04:36 am (UTC)Immediately Daniel and Evan were there. Daniel was literally pacing circles around Rodney and Jeannie while Evan bandaged the cut on Jeannie's arm.
"So," John said, blinking at Jeannie. "You've gotten really good at the whole -" He swung one fist to indicate dueling with a lightsaber.
"Master Radek was a very fine teacher." Jeannie smiled at Evan and thanked him when he taped off the bandage.
John turned to Rodney. "So, the whole loin cloth and golden arm cuffs was a pretty good look for you."
Rodney, who'd put on a pair of pants and a prim wrap-around jacket, rolled his eyes. "Yeah, that wasn't by choice."
"Never really imagined you in chains -"
"Nor should you," Rodney snapped. "Just be glad that I was willing to go along with Jeannie, Daniel, and Evan's truly insane rescue plan."
Daniel fluttered his hands. "See, Evan? I told you the plan was insane."
Evan had moved on to giving John a health diagnostic. Being frozen in carbonite like that was always dangerous, especially long-term. "Mistress Jeannie is a fine Jedi. Aren't you, Mistress?"
"I'm glad we found you," Jeannie said.
John managed a half-hearted smirk. "Miss me that much, did you?"
"Save it for someone who thinks you're charming. I'll fly us while you rest." Jeannie stood up, shook out her bandaged arm, and then headed for the cockpit, calling for Ronon as she went.
"Did you mean it?" John asked, once he was sure Jeannie was out of ear shot.
"Mean what?" Rodney was fiddling with his wrist cuffs.
"That you're someone who loves me."
Rodney lifted his head, looked at John. Then he reached out, threaded his fingers through John's hair, and tugged him into a kiss.
John closed his eyes and moaned into Rodney's mouth.
Daniel said, "I just don't understand the human fascination for sharing saliva."
Rodney sighed and pulled back. "Evan?"
Evan grabbed Daniel's arm and dragged him toward the cockpit. "Come on. Ronon will explain it to you."
"Ronon's a Wookiee."
"Wookiees kiss too."
As soon as they were gone, John captured Rodney's mouth in another kiss and started undoing all of Rodney's careful work with his clothes, starting with the wrist cuffs.

Date: 2017-01-19 03:33 pm (UTC)FILL: Includes Cheesy 80s music Pt 1/2
Date: 2017-01-19 10:31 pm (UTC)Steve had dug out an old boombox which, miraculously, still worked and flipped through the stations until he finally found something he wanted to listen to.
Danny snickered as he heard the familiar keyboard notes that began REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling" started to play. "What is it with you and cheesy '80s songs, babe?" he asked.
Steve sat down in the adjacent chair on the lanai and shrugged defensively. "It's a good song, Danny." Steve leaned down and turned up the volume.
"What started out as friendship has grown stronger..." the singer crooned. "I only wish I had the strength to let it show..."
Danny took a long sip of the beer he had been drinking. He didn't want to think about Steve in relation to a love ballad, but the lyrics were kind of spot-on to how he felt right now. Suspiciously so. Though, he supposed he could blame Steve for wanting to listen to the radio on Valentine's Day.
This year, almost everyone they knew had a significant other or date for Valentine's Day. There was Kono and Adam, Lou and Renée, and Chin and Abby for the couples. Jerry had a date with some girl he met online, and Eric was going out with Noelani, the new medical examiner. Pretty much everyone was with someone, except for Steve and Danny, who were actually single at the same time. Fortuitously single at the same time, a voice in his head which sounded a lot like Kono said. Danny disregarded that voice, which was clearly the manifestation of his gradually developing insanity. Steve and him were hanging out as friends for the evening since otherwise they would be bored and lonely with all of the romance going on today.
Danny gazed away from the sunset towards his partner, who was lightly singing the cheesy love song. He noticed Danny staring at him and smiled fondly at him. Danny looked away towards the horizon, ignoring the goosebumps developing on his arm that had nothing to do with the balmy temperature. Despite himself, Danny started to tap his foot as he listened to the song. This was definitely an improvement on "Sexy Eyes."
"You know, this song is actually kind of catchy."
Steve chuckled. "Really?"
"It's better than that 'Sexy Eyes' one you wanted to listen to in the car one time."
"One more lonely night for me," Steve taunted in a sing-song voice. "I look up, what do I see..."
Danny fell into a fit of laughter. "Please, babe, make it stop!"
Steve shook his head. "One day, I will get you to admit that Dr. Hook is not that bad." He paused to take a sip of his beer.
"I'm telling you, that's never gonna happen."
The song changed, and Danny grinned as he recognized the opening to "Livin' on a Prayer." "Okay, now pay attention, my friend, since your musical education is clearly lacking." He turned up the volume a little on Steve's boombox. "This is what good 80s music sounds like."
Steve laughed. "Bon Jovi? You are so predictable."
"Shh." Danny wanted to hear the song.
When the lyrics came on, Danny enthusiastically sang every word. Steve joined in during the chorus, to Danny's pleasant surprise.
The announcer said that they would be taking a break from "80s love song night," and Danny relaxed back against his chair.
After a couple of commercials, Steve spoke. "I can't believe this music is considered 'oldies.'"
Danny sighed. "It makes you feel ancient, doesn't it?"
Steve nodded, looking thoughtful and melancholy. "Are we really getting that old, Danny?"
Danny smiled sadly. "I think so." Today just reminded him how much. He was more than 40 years old and still had nobody to share his life with. That thing with Melissa wasn't built to last. She was so much younger than him, and he couldn't even tell her that he loved her. He didn't know how to say it to anyone but Steve, which was kind of a problem considering that Steve was just supposed to be his friend. Of course, the ship had sailed on Danny thinking of Steve that way a long time ago.

Date: 2017-01-19 03:36 pm (UTC)Fill: Gundam Wing - Quatre Winner/Trowa Barton - Hallways
Date: 2017-01-20 04:14 am (UTC)It was strange, this feeling of ending and beginning tied together. Honestly, he'd never been good with transitions or change. Most likely because the majority of the ones he'd experienced in his life had not been moving on to better things.
His life was different now, but still the sense of being off balance and out of step lingered like an old stray cat that refused to leave after being fed once. Really, things were better. There was peace and that counted for a hell of a lot. On a more personal scale he had a good job that he liked, a car, money in the bank, and a boyfriend that he loved. A boyfriend whose house he was moving into and was about to start a new life with.
He was getting his karmic reward for a job well done even if he wasn't always sure he deserved it. From this day on everything would be his and Quatre's, a mingling of things and lives in the most scared and mundane way possible. They'd always had joint ownership of a joint destiny and this was just the first step in what would, no doubt, be the rest of the story that took place after the 'and they lived happily ever after'.

Fill--MCU, post CATWS: Presumed Dead
Date: 2017-01-20 06:14 am (UTC)What's been worse than the nuts and bolts of the helicarrier disaster has been the up and down of the death toll: First, Nick--dead? Not dead--but it had been so close it still gives her chills. Now he's talking about heading to Europe, on the trail of Hydra cells hinted at in the data dump.
Sitwell--a traitor? She would never have believed it of him. Her anger had turned to exasperation when his name had turned up on one of Hydra's lists...some of their members had been true idealists. Others had been bought. Sitwell was blackmailed --there were details of the threats that had been made against his sister, his only living relative. He'd probably been too paranoid to approach her or Nick--and now, according to Steve, he's dead.
Steve...another horribly close call. He'd practically gone down with the stinking helicarrier, apparently been beaten all to hell by his brainwashed best friend, nearly drowned--physically he's fully recovered, but mentally? The jury's still out on that one.
Brock Rumlow. Traitor. Dead? No such luck, and the SOB escaped from a supposedly secure ward and is still in the wind.
Maria had never admired Alexander Pierce the way Nick had. She hadn't suspected his true allegiance--she just has a low tolerance for over-the-hill rich boys who drink single-malt scotch and are nobly humble about their philanthropy. Or Nobel-ly humble, she smirks at her bourbon. Well, he's definitely dead. Nick made sure of that.
There are a lot of her former coworkers confirmed dead, and even more are still missing. Some of them have been implicated in Hydra's activities, and if they know what's good for them, they'll stay missing.
She's looking at the last quarter inch of amber ice-melt in the bottom of her glass when her phone buzzes. She stares at the name on the display for a stunned moment, then accepts the call. "Hill."
"Hi, Maria. I really need to talk to you." The caller must think she doesn't recognize his voice, because he adds, "It's me...Jasper Sitwell."

Date: 2017-01-19 10:37 pm (UTC)FILL: Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams
Date: 2017-01-20 04:36 am (UTC)When he looked over at the passenger side, he saw Danny, like usual, but Danny was wearing a perfectly fitted tux and staring at Steve like he hung the moon. That part wasn't so usual.
Steve leaned over to kiss Danny. Just because he could, and just because Danny looked so handsome that Steve couldn't resist.
"You ready to go, babe?" Danny inclined his head towards the sun setting in front of them.
Steve smiled. "With you? Anywhere." He turned the key in the ignition and steered the car forward.
Steve let one hand rest between their seats, and Danny covered that hand with his and interlaced their fingers together. Steve grinned when he felt the wedding band Steve had put on Danny's finger earlier. They drove off into the distance, garnering a few grins from passing motorists and the occasional celebratory honking horn.
The reactions of other drivers weren't a shock. After all, the back of their car had a sign announcing that they were "Just Married." People liked the idea of others, even strangers, being happy and in love.
Steve gave Danny a lingering glance as he pulled up to a red stoplight, grateful that the man sitting next to him was now his husband and would always be by his side. Forever.
The light turned green, and Steve drove them into the sunset and into their future.
