FRIDAY: CARE & COMFORT
Mar. 10th, 2017 01:30 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and this is the last day of feel-good prompts! Thank you so much for all the excellent prompts and fills this week! Today's theme is CARE & COMFORT! Prompts can be anything, so long they involve characters taking care of each other. (Here’s your chance to throw in some angst, LOL!)
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay + Any, who takes care of John and Rodney when they're too sick to take care of each other?
+ Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams, Steve gets carried away trying to ensure everything is perfect the first night Danny stays over since they started dating
+ Any Sentinel AU, Any, the Sentinel needs to know when to take care of the Guide
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Any, soothing their partner after a nightmare/flashback
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-11-22 12:02 am (UTC)It was a Saturday, so Steve had a lot of time to prepare for Danny’s arrival. He’d gone to the grocery store to get ingredients for tonight’s dinner, and after debating with himself for several minutes, he’d bought an extra toothbrush for Danny in case he decided on spending the night. And then he’d gone to another store to get the supplies they would need if the night went really well. Afterwards, Steve had thought it would be a good idea to straighten up the house a little.
By the time he was dusting knick-knacks in the guest bedroom, Steve had realized that he might have gone a bit overboard with the cleaning. But the end result was worth it. Every single room had been vacuumed and dusted. The towels had been changed and all of the beds had been freshly made, and Steve had even had enough time to start a load of laundry before he took a shower and started making dinner.
And then, after he had changed into one of his dressier suits, Steve realized that he had forgotten to fluff the pillows.
He was so intent on trying to make a particularly stubborn pillow on his couch cooperate that he didn’t notice when Danny entered the house.
“Hi, babe. Is there a reason you’re treating that pillow like an enemy combatant?”
Steve turned around with the pillow still clenched in both hands to face Danny, who looked like he was struggling to contain a laugh. But he was so handsome that Steve couldn’t really care about that.
“Hey,” he said. Realizing that his voice sounded too breathy, he cleared his throat and glanced down at the pillow in his hand, which had gone a limp thanks to the way Steve had tried to beat it into submission. He turned around to set it down back in its normal position on the couch. “I was trying to fluff the pillows,” he muttered to himself.
Danny did actually chuckle at that. “I could tell.” Steve could hear his footsteps coming closer and turned to face him. “You didn’t have to go to all this effort. I’m not Martha Stewart, you know. But the house does look nice.”
Steve sighed in relief and smiled. “Really?”
Danny nodded, and then he let his gaze trail down over Steve’s body and then back up to meet his eyes again. “You look even nicer.”
Steve smirked. He knew that the suit would be a good idea. He leaned down to kiss Danny, but stopped halfway when he heard a familiar melodic ringing noise coming from the other side of the house.
“What the hell is that?”
Steve groaned and screwed his eyes shut in embarrassment. “My laundry. I guess my clothes are dry.”
Danny tilted his head. “You were feeling really domestic today, weren’t you?”
Steve shrugged. “I just wanted to make this place nice for you. I guess I got a little crazy.”
Danny grinned and reached up to hook his hands around the back of Steve’s neck. “Well, luckily for you, I like crazy. I picked you after all.”
Danny showed exactly how much he liked Steve’s crazy tendencies by kissing him full on the mouth. Steve opened his mouth for Danny’s tongue and held him by the waist as Danny guided them back towards Steve’s couch.
By the time Danny finally pulled away to breathe, he was straddling Steve’s lap. He took a few seconds just to pant against Steve’s mouth before he began absently fiddling with the collar of Steve’s shirt. “How much time do we have before dinner’s ready?”
Steve licked his lips, trying to remember. It was difficult to recall anything with Danny on top of him and touching him like that.
“Fifteen more minutes,” he eventually answered.
Danny purred and leaned down for another kiss. “Let’s make the most of them, then.”

Lightly stabbed. I didn't want to frighten you.

Date: 2017-03-13 12:19 am (UTC)Leia's face went contorted with disbelief. “I'm sorry, you were stabbed?”
“Lightly!” Han shrunk on to himself in the next second, withered a bit by the glare she sent him when the medic reached for another scanner. “I didn't want to frighten you?”
“Is that a question or a statement?”
He mumbled, “Statement,” before flinching at the medic's probing, “Ow!”
“A light stabbing, huh?”
“A lightsaber stabbing,” the medic told her. “He's lucky it was a glancing blow.”
“Oh, not really. Death would have been kinder to him than I will be.”

2nd FILL: Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams, outside POV, 1/2
Date: 2017-09-01 08:06 pm (UTC)Jenna grinned as Detective Williams turned the corner and started running towards her ambulance. Just like clockwork.
As a paramedic, Jenna dealt with a lot of worried spouses and cops concerned when their partner got injured on the job over the years. But she had never dealt with a pair quite like Commander McGarrett and Detective Williams before.
Among her co-workers, Commander McGarrett had a reputation for getting himself into life-threatening situations while Detective Williams had an equally strong reputation of fussing over him like a mother hen. And on the rare occasions when Detective Williams was the one who had been injured, Commander McGarrett could be just as anxiously protective. Sometimes, Jenna wondered why they wouldn’t just come out of the closet already. It’s not like they made any effort to keep their relationship a secret, and it wasn’t as if everyone in Honolulu, especially the emergency services personnel who interacted with them on a regular basis, didn’t know about them already. The status of their relationship was such a settled fact that it hadn’t been considered interesting gossip for years, so nothing would actually change if they were more open about it.
Jenna shook the thought away as Detective Williams approached. She needed her full focus to attend to her patient’s injury and simultaneously soothe his partner’s frazzled nerves.
“God, babe, I just got here. Are you okay? Please tell me you’re okay.”
Jenna opened her mouth to speak, but Commander McGarrett beat her to the punch.
“I’m fine, Danny,” he said, wincing when Jenna applied disinfectant to the wound on his stomach. She gave him an apologetic smile and began applying gauze to cover the injury, which would stop the bleeding. That was Jenna’s main concern since her examination had revealed that the cut hadn’t been deep enough to necessitate transport to a hospital and hadn’t hit any vital organs.
Commander McGarrett shrugged. “It’s not a big deal.”
Jenna sighed when he downplayed the injury, which blew away a few shorter strands of hair that had escaped her ponytail. Didn’t he know that his response would only make Detective Williams worry more, not less?
True to her predictions, Williams frowned and tilted his head to look at the wound. “I don’t know, babe. That cut looked pretty bad.”
McGarrett rolled his eyes. “I wasn’t injured. I was lightly stabbed.”
2nd FILL: Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams, outside POV, 2/2
Date: 2017-09-01 08:09 pm (UTC)“No, Danno, I said I was lightly stabbed. I didn’t want to frighten you.”
Detective Williams shook his head in utter disbelief. “You’re a moron, you know that?” He turned towards Jenna. “You'll tell me the truth, at least, right?”
Jenna chuckled and finished taping up the gauze to cover Commander McGarrett’s injury. “I wouldn’t use the words ‘lightly stabbed,’ but Commander McGarrett’s injury could have been a lot worse. He won’t need stitches, and the knife didn’t hit any vital organs.” Detective Williams let out a shuddering exhale of relief, and Jenna gave him a comforting smile. “He should recover fully in about ten days, with proper care. If the injury gets infected, he should get to the E.R. right away.”
Detective Williams nodded solemnly. “Of course.”
Jenna snapped off her gloves and disposed of them in the biomedical waste bin. “As long as you can keep him away from knives for the next week, he should recover quickly.”
Detective Williams laughed. “I can try.”
“Hey, I am not that bad,” McGarrett protested.
Jenna muffled an amused snort as Williams shook his head. “Sure, you’re not. That’s how you were only ‘lightly’ stabbed.”
McGarrett eased down from the back of Jenna’s ambulance with the help of Detective Williams. Jenna smiled when she saw how Detective Williams kept a hand on his partner’s arm even as they bickered back and forth over whether it was possible to only be lightly stabbed. Even when they were arguing, they were still one of the most affectionate couples she had ever seen. She watched them walk off together until she could no longer hear their voices, and then she turned away to apply hand sanitizer. She had more patients to attend to, but she wouldn’t forget their entertaining conversation for the rest of the day.

Date: 2017-03-10 08:50 pm (UTC)Drabble Fill, Clint Barton/Phil Coulson (more pre-slash than slash, sorry)
Date: 2017-06-22 02:31 am (UTC)Phil looks up from his papers, eyebrow quirked.
"He never does that." Clint's loose, leaning up against the door frame with his bow in hand, a study in studied nonchalance. "Even after I asked."
"Oh," Phil says, and turns back to his work.
They eye each other carefully in their peripheral vision while pretending not to stare until Clint nods and casually straightens.
His "Thanks," as he leaves is low, but Phil hears it.
