Date: 2017-03-13 12:55 am (UTC)Nick, of course, denied setting him up. Phil didn't quite believe him, but upon conferring with Jasper, well, he accepted it was unlikely. (“You're his favorite agent. If you get killed, he has Hill who neither Barton nor Romanov will obey.”)
He ruled out his two assets as being the culprits—Clint would have been one of the robbers just to screw with Phil and Natasha would have stopped after three—and he ruled out Stark, too.
It was starting to drive him a little bit nuts, admittedly.
A knife whizzed by his head; he ducked and rolled, swiping the legs out from under one of the idiot attackers, and then slid into another. A set of shelves came crashing towards him a few seconds later, causing him to scramble backwards, but it brought a bag of sugar into reach. A solid throw later, the last of the gunmen was on the floor and Phil sighed as he got to his feet in the middle of the mess.
“I really have to figure out who keeps setting this up,” he muttered.
(Natasha wondered aloud, “What is it about baking supplies?”
“Flour obscures, sugar crystals are like fucking napalm,” Clint answered with a shrug, “and they both have heft to them.” He looked back at the baby agents enraptured with the TV screen.)
