It's
aivix for my final day of hosting! Thank you to all whom prompted and who filled. :D To finish out the week, it's my personal favorite of themes: Crossovers and AUs.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Multiverse, Jack O'Neill/Daniel Jackson, Saturday morning cartoons with the kids.
+ Stargate: Atlantis/Star Trek, James Kirk/Leonard McCoy, “You're a descendant of John Sheppard? That explains it.”
+ MCU/X-Men First Class, Phil Coulson, Growing up at Xavier's School for the Gifted.
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-03-17 02:46 pm (UTC)He glanced up, startled. “Me?”
“Yeah, you.” Sam tossed her head. “You were the son he’d always wanted, or something. Instead he got stuck with me. Perfect Rodney McKay, the golden god. Little Sam Carter, the screw-up. Kicked out of yet another fine school for girls for making explosives out of gummy bears.”
Rodney considered this for a moment. “That is plausible. Powdered sugar would be better - more reactive surface area -”
Sam rolled her eyes. “Yes, I know. I was seven at the time I chose the gummy bears. I know better now, thanks. The point is, all my life, I heard how awesome you are. And in real life, you’re -”
“Abrasive? Acerbic? Don’t play well with others? There was a reason John was the charmer with the ladies.” Rodney stared down at his hands. “Girls liked crooners and musicians back then, but all the Rachmaninoff in the world wouldn’t have gotten me a date.”
Sam’s eyes lit up. “You can play Rachmaninoff?”
Rodney shrugged. “Sure.”
“No one ever really talks about John Sheppard. Other than that he was with you in the Howling Commandos and he was your best friend.”
“No talks about the fact that I was born in Canada either,” Rodney said sourly.
“That’s because you’re Captain America,” Sam drawled. She tilted her head. “You were sweet on him, though, weren’t you?”
Rodney felt a flush rise in his cheeks. He set the music book aside, rose to his feet. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“It’s a new century, remember? That kinda thing is no big deal.” Sam picked up the music book. “Adele? Really?”
“Vala asked if I could play it. Apparently she’s fond of Adele.”
“The more I know about people who come from the Red Room, the more I’m weirded out.” Sam stood up. “What we he like? John Sheppard.”
Everyone called him John Sheppard or Sergeant Sheppard.
Only Rodney had been allowed to call him Johnny.
“He was an incorrigible flirt.” And brilliant at math. No one knew Rodney was good at physics, no one knew John was amazing at math. They were going to change the world. After the War, they were going to blow Jacob Carter and Carter Industries out of the water.
“He was kinda cute, in a skinny, slinky kinda way,” Sam offered.
John might have flirted with plenty of women, but his real kisses and his body had only been for Rodney. He pushed the job aside.
“Don’t we have things we need to be doing?”
Sam grinned. “Yeah, like looking at apartments? You can’t live in the Tower forever.”
Rodney was terrified that the super soldier serum might actually make him live forever. He sighed. “Fine, you harpy. Let’s go look at apartments.”
Sam toed on a pair of sensible flats, tapped her smartwatch. “Hey, Evan, Rodney and I are going apartment-hunting. Want to come with?”
Evan was incredibly long-suffering, when it came to Sam’s shenanigans, but he kept her life running with meticulous care. “Sorry, Sam, but I’m trying to reschedule that charity dinner you were supposed to speak at. Want me to call the car around?”
“You do that. Thanks, E.”
There were rumors that Sam was sleeping with Evan (he was a good-looking man, all blue eyes and dimples and broad shoulders), but there were also rumors that Evan was a robot, and Rodney suspected the latter more than he did the former.
Sam cast a sunny smile over her shoulder. “C’mon, Cap. Your new home awaits!”
Rodney’s new apartment was nice. The pretty nurse across the hall, Amelia, was nice, but Rodney wasn’t inclined to date her. His new gig with SHIELD was nice, though Elizabeth Weir and her eye patch were very disconcerting. His new running buddy, Cam the VA counselor guy, was nice.
Life in general was nice. And boring.
Rodney had no purpose. No cause. No -
And then Vala summoned him for an emergency, and he suited up and grabbed his shield and threw himself into battle on autopilot. Fighting soldiers was like playing Fur Elise. His body knew how to do it. He never missed a note.
Until he saw the enemy soldier in the black armor, with the silver plate on his left arm. Saw that unruly hair and those inscrutably-colored eyes.
And missed a note.
“Johnny?”
The enemy huffed. “Who the hell is Johnny?” And he swung.
Re: Fill
Date: 2017-03-17 03:06 pm (UTC)This is awesome! AWESOME!! Love Sam in Tony's role, and Rodney being Captain America even though he's Canadian. ::grins::
Ugh, and his secret romance with John.
Only Rodney had been allowed to call him Johnny.
I really like how you equated Rodney fighting with playing the piano, and how bored he is with his life until that fateful meeting.
And missed a note.
Soooo good! This whole thing is good, and if you ever get the urge to turn it into a 200k fic I'm on board for every word. ::winks:: Thank you!!

Date: 2017-03-20 12:28 am (UTC)oh but casting Sam as Tony is so interesting-Tony broke his mold, Sam breaks her gender mold, neither one is quite what others/the press believe them to be...oh goodness that was gold.
and Weir with an eyepatch! lovely.
and of course Vala is Nat. Of course. So perfect.
