Hello, everyone. I’m fabrisse and today's theme is Long Ago and Faraway. Prompts can be memories of a canonical or uncanonical past or an historical AU or a world of imagination that never came true. It can also be something which relates to the lyrics of the song.

Steve sat in his truck, his heart was racing. He was at the restaurant about to go in to meet Danny. He wasn't sure why Danny had asked him to meet him here. Or, why exactly he was so nervous. He was just meeting his partner, his friend for a drink, possibly dinner. That's all. Sighing, he pushed open the truck's door, getting out. Shutting the door, he walked the short distance to the restaurant's front door. Pausing, he squared his shoulders and opened the door. Once in, he scanned the crowd for Danny.

A few tables in sat Danny. He was smiling, talking animatedly to someone who had their back to Steve. He watched as Danny threw his head back in laughter. The person, a man, reached over and placed a hand over Danny's. Steve watched as Danny didn't pull back. Steve was surprised by that. Who was this person? He had to steady his breathing, getting his feelings under control.

Danny noticed Steve standing there. He waived him over, standing to greet him. "Steve, this is Alex. He's in town for a few days and I thought it'd be great to invite him tonight."

Steve extended a hand to Alex. "Nice to meet you." Alex returned the handshake. Danny and Steve took their seats opposite each other and Alex. They made small talk for awhile, waiting for their drink order. Steve watched the two men and their ease with each other. While he and Danny have a close friendship, he could sense it was different from what was between the two men next to him. He felt something beginning to rise in him, it wasn't quite anger, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

"So, how long have you and Danny been together?" Steve nearly choked on his sip of beer. His fixed his eyes on Alex. "Excuse me?"

"No, Alex, I think you got the wrong idea when I said we were partners. We're not together like you and I were. We're partners in the sense that we work together on the task force." The realization of what Danny had said hit both Steve and Alex at the same time. Both smiled awkwardly at each other. The silence was broken when Danny's phone rang. Danny excused himself to take the call from Grace.

"So, you and Danny?"

Alex looked at him, smiling. "Yeah, we were together before he moved here. I was a little worried about meeting you. He talks about you and I thought, well it really doesn't matter. I'm kinda relieved about you two."

Steve's eyes snapped from Danny's distant figure back to Alex. His eyes narrowing at the man. His hand, gripping his beer bottle. "What do you mean, what doesn't matter?"

"Well, if you two aren't what I thought, then there's a chance to get back with Danny." Steve felt that feeling rising and this time he knew what it was. Jealousy. It was raw and possessive. Steve clear d his throat, knowing that hitting this guy with his bottle wasn't the answer. But he so wanted to do it.

"I thought you were only here for a visit?" He looked at his hands, willing them to unfist. Alex only shrugged. "Well . . . " He never got to finish his sentence as Danny returned to their table.

"That was Grace, Charlie's not feeling well. I've gotta get home." The smile fell from Alex's face and Steve had to turn away to hide his smile.

"I'll walk out with you, then. "

"No, that's ok. I've gotta pay the tab and I need to talk to Steve about the case we're working on."

Alex pushed back from the table, shaking their hands. He reached over and hugged Danny. "Call me later?"

"Yeah." They watched him leave, waiting for the waitress to return to the table. After paying, they made their way to the door. "I have a file I need to give you. It's in my car."

Steve followed Danny to his car. Jealousy coursed through his body. The thought of Alex touching Danny, kissing him only intensified his feelings. He grabbed Danny by the shoulders, turning him around to face him. He pushed Danny up against his car. Stepping into Danny's space, seeing him looking up, he felt his desire rising. Mouth opened to say something. He just never got the chance as Steve pressed his lips to him. Teasing him with his tongue. Steve grabbed his wrists, holding Danny in place against him and the car. He teased his lips and teeth along Danny's jaw, stopping at his ear. Huskily he whispered into his ear. "I want to be more than just work partners."
