Thursday: School Days
May. 18th, 2017 06:39 amWe’ve made it to Thursday! I remain
4bdnsn0wflake, and today’s theme is School Days.
Prompts and fills should some way involve school, and anything from pre-school to post-graduate is game.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ MCU, Pepper Potts, voted Most Likely to Succeed in high school
+ Author’s Choice, any ensemble, junior high school science fair
+ Author’s Choice, any, cutting class
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-05-18 11:41 am (UTC)Cutting Class
Date: 2017-05-18 02:05 pm (UTC)Sam shifts from one foot to the other, nervously eyeing Dean. He knows Dean wants to cut class, something he's not happy with. He likes school and doesn't want to miss anything. They've only been in this town for a few weeks. He doesn't want anything messing with the normal that they've established.
"I don't think this is a very good idea."
"Sammy, what do you have to lose? It's not like school really matters. You're smart, you won't even miss anything. Come on."
Dean shakes his head, knowing Sam is always like this, a little too cautious. Sam's the peacemaker while he's the rebel. But, it'd be good for the kid to live a little.
"Sam, when are we going to be able to ever go to this again? Don't you want to see this Circus of Freaks?"
Sam bites his lower lip, trying to figure out what to do, what to say. Yes, he wants to go. He wants to not disappoint Dean. He also doesn't want to get caught or skip school.
"I don't know. Why can't we go after school?"
"Sam, we're sneaking in. Kids aren't even allowed there. Come on, be my wing man."
Sam's still on the fence between saying no and possibly pissing Dean off and agreeing, making himself betray his feelings.
"Tell ya what, we'll skip out after lunch. This way when asked we can say we went to school. Then, we can sneak in, see what's what & be back before dad misses us."
Sighing, Sam goes over this plan in his head. Dean's trying to make both happy. Well, if Dean's trying, maybe he should.
Looking up at Dean, he shakes his head. Crossing his arms he takes a step closer to his brother.
"Ok, let's do it." His voice is shaky, betraying his feelings.
A smile spreads across Dean's face. Happy in the fact that he could find a happy medium for them both.
"Yeah?"
Sam shakes his head again.
"Yeah, sure Dean, it'll be fun."
Dean wraps an arm around him. They walk the short distance to school. Stopping at the steps leading into the school, Dean turns to him.
"We'll meet in the lunch room and leave after lunch ends."
With that, Dean's gone. Sam slowly climbs the steps. Dread spreading in his stomach. He makes it through his first three classes without an issue. When he looks up at the clock during fourth period, his nerves start to kick in. He's nervous and starts to fidget. Silently telling himself to keep it together. The bell rings, ending class, startling him.
Sam makes his way to the lunch room. He keeps his head down, remembering his dad's words. "Keep your head down so not to be noticed. But, always keep your eyes open." He's doing just that. He gets in line for lunch, only picking up his head to accept the tray before him. Turning, he makes his way to the tables. He & Dean always sit together. He looks around, seeing Dean at a table in the back. He's picked that table because it's close to the back exit.
Sam shuffles over to Dean. He quietly places the tray on the table. He doesn't want to draw to much attention to them. Dean gives him a smile. They eat in silence, waiting for the bell. It'll be easier to cut when there are a ton of bodies around. When the bell rings, Dean grabs him, pulling him out of the room and down the back hall.
The door is right in front of them. Dean grabs the handle and turns it. As it opens, light floods in. Dean grabs him again, shoving him through. They run the short distance over to the next street. They've made it. Dean is smiling and he feels a smile creeping up.
"Sam, come on, we're going to have some fun."
Sam smile widens. Yeah, they'll have fun. They're the Winchester brothers, not much can stop them.

Date: 2017-05-18 04:10 pm (UTC)Hawaii Five-O Co-parents
Date: 2017-05-20 10:06 pm (UTC)The doors opened, Grace stood there looking at her father. "Anything yet?" Danny turned to her, a look of annoyance on his face. She gave him a hug and quick kiss on the cheek. "He'll be here. He promised."
"Yeah, he also promised to be on time. Go back inside. I'll give him another five minutes, then I'll be in."
She only nodded. If Steve didn't show up there was going to be hell to pay. Grace retreated back into the dance. Danny could hear music playing and kids laughing through the doors. He resumed pacing.
Looking at his watch, he decided to walk to the front doors. Maybe, Steve was here. Reaching the doors, he looked up to see Steve standing there. He was talking to a couple of parents they had met recently. The stress started to recede. He breathed a sigh of relief. Steve looked over at him, giving him one of those McGarrett, devil may care grins. Danny found himself smiling back. The group ended their conversation. The couple shook Steve's hand and waved to Danny. Steve walked over to Danny.
"You're late. Where the hell have you been?" Without missing a beat, Steve pulled him into his arms. Murmuring to him. "I know. I'm sorry. But I wanted this to be special." From a bag he had kept hidden from Danny, he produced a small single red rose bud with a pin. He took the lapel on Danny's suit jacket and pinned the boutineer to it. He placed a chaste kiss on Danny's lips.
"Am I forgiven?" Danny regarded him for a moment before interlocking his fingers with Steve's. "We'll see how the rest of the night goes." There was a sly smile on his lips as he spoke. Taking a breath, he squeezed Steve's hand. "Ready?" Steve shook his head. "Let's do this."
Together, still holding hands, they entered the dance. Several people turned to them, seeing who had entered the dance. A few noticed the hand holding, but kept quiet. Seeing them together, Grace made her way over to them. She had her date with her. "Jason, these are my parents, Danny and Steve." The boy extended his hand to them. "Nice to meet you." Steve shook his hand. Before he could say anything, Danny stepped forward to shake the kid's hand. "If you put a hand on our daughter . . ." He didn't get to finish, Steve had pulled him back. "Why don't you two go dance?"
Shaking his head, Steve looked at Danny. "You need to relax. Why don't we mingle? I'm sure there are a few people here trying to figure us out." Danny looked up at him. "Why, they've never seen co-parenting before?" Steve could only laugh. Danny knew what he actually meant. Turning Danny to him, he placed his hands on his shoulders and kissed him. "I love you, you know that." It wasn't a question, just a statement of truth.
"I love you, too." Danny moved away, taking Steve's hand in his. He pulled Steve along with him. They walked over to the principal.
"Mrs. Maliki, have you met my husband, Steve McGarrett?"

Date: 2017-05-18 04:11 pm (UTC)SPN, Dean is a lot more intelligent Part 1
Date: 2017-05-18 07:35 pm (UTC)Taking his seat at the back of the class, Dean waited for the other students to file in. Once the bell rang, there was silence in the room. Their teacher had yet to come in. She'd been nice to him, realizing that life wasn't easy for his family. She'd heard how his mother had died when he was only four, leaving them in the care of their dad. More than once, she'd offered him words of encouragement, telling him he was a lot smarter than he gave himself credit for.
The door opened as Mrs. Healey entered her class. She greeted them and waited for a response. She taught English, a subject he really didn't feel he had a need for. But, it was easier to go with the flow than not.
They had taken a test the day before and also had a paper due the same day. He spent several hours at the library researching his topic, Arthurian Lore. That one wasn't his choice. Mrs. Healey assigned each student their topic. His groan hadn't gone unnoticed when she had given them out. She simply looked at him and said "You're more than capable of writing this paper."
If the paper was on guns, cars or demons, he would ace it with his eyes closed. But, not this. What did he know about Arthurian Lore? Jack shit, that's what. But, he did it anyway. Sam had stayed with him at the library. It wasn't hard to get the kid in, but it was next to impossible to get him out.
Mrs. Healey was going over the test answers. Or, more to the point, letting her students know how disappointed she was with them. Not many had passed with a C, let alone getting an A.
Dean sunk down in his chair. He knew he wasn't getting a good grade. Then again it didn't matter. His dad wouldn't give a crap, as long as he was good at hunting. After the stern lecture, she had them turn to the next chapter they would be working on. She assigned the pages of homework, writing them on the chalkboard so no one had an excuse not to get the work done. He quickly scribbled the information in his notebook.
With five minutes left to class, Mrs. Healey started passing back the tests and their papers. When she came to his desk, she simply said to him that she would speak with him after class. Now he wanted to sink into the floor. This couldn't be good.
The bell rang, dismissing the class. Sighing he gathered his book, notebook and pen. Making his way up to the front of the class, he waited for Mrs. Healey to acknowledge him.
She was sitting in her chair. She looked up at him with a warm smile. She held out his test. With a shaking hand he took it. Why the hell was he shaking? He looked at the grade, an A. His lips formed a silent O, his green eyes wide with shock. Next, she handed him his paper. In red ink across the top was written A+. Then in the margin a note.
"Dean, I'm so pleased with this paper. I can tell a lot of hard work went into this. You should be proud. Mrs. Healey."
He was lost for words. Mrs. Healey stood up, coming around her desk to stand next to him.
Re: SPN, Dean is a lot more intelligent Part 2
Date: 2017-05-18 07:48 pm (UTC)He could only look at her, deer in the headlights look. He backed away, shaking his head. Clearing his throat before he could answer her.
"Um, no that's ok."
"Would you like me to speak to your father about this? I'd be happy to. I would think he'd be proud of you and your grades."
He couldn't think. This was not the plan. His father wouldn't be proud of this, or him. Sam was the smart one, he was the hunter.
"No, that's alright. My dad's not big on things like this."
Before anything else could be said by either of them, Dean was out the door and down the hall. He didn't stop until he was outside. He shoved the papers into his notebook as Sam approached him. Seeing the look on Dean's face, Sam stopped short.
"Not a good grade on your test?"
Shaking his head no, Dean started walking them home. They met their dad as he was pulling into the house they were staying in.
"Hey boys, how was school? Sam how'd you do on your test?"
"Dad, that was Dean, not me."
"Oh, well, Dean's a hunter so . . . " His sentence trailed off as he and Sam went inside.
Dean stood there for a few seconds, thinking over his test and paper. A smile played on his lips. For just a moment, even though he and Mrs. Healey were the only ones to know, he was the smart one.
That was good enough for him.

Date: 2017-05-19 03:35 am (UTC)SPN, Dean Winchester, another new school
Date: 2017-05-19 04:04 pm (UTC)He hadn't bothered to memorize this school's name. Why bother? They wouldn't be here long enough to make friends. They were only enrolling so no one would hassle them. It wasn't like his grades really mattered to his dad. What mattered was keeping a low profile and being a good hunter.
He looked around. The lawn was manicured and a lush green in color. Several trees lined the street. Kids were being dropped off by their parents. Some were walking, catching up with friends. A school bus was slowly rolling to a stop in the bus lane. The door opened and more kids funneled out.
Well, better get this over with. He'd already dropped Sam off at his school. He could ditch, but he'd probably catch hell from his dad. Slowly, he forced his feet to move, climbing the stairs to the main double doors.
Swinging open one of the doors, he surveyed the hall in front of him. He noticed the sign for the main office. With a sigh, he made his way to the right, stopping in front of the main office window. He looked in. It looked like every other school office he'd been to. There was a row of chairs against the window. Across from them was a half wall and a door. The wall was home to the secretary's desk. The door, he figured led into the principal and probably the assistant principal's offices.
The last thing he wanted was to go in there. He'd rather be hunting with his father. That would be so much easier than putting up with this bullshit. But, Sam was in school and they knew he was on his way here.
Running a hand over his face, he gave in and opened the door. Quietly, he closed the door. Stepping forward he rested his body against the half wall, waiting for the secretary to look up from her desk. When she did, it was a small smile.
"Can I help you?"
"I'm Dean Winchester. I'm new here."

Date: 2018-02-03 02:15 am (UTC)How long was a stupid study session going to go on, already? Hers had ended over half an hour ago. But Zayn had to stick to her plan.
Noel Sutherland was in her Introduction to Psychology class, and happened to be the most desirable junior at the university. Noel was nothing short of stunning. He was charming and brilliant (Zayn imagined – she’d never actually spoken to him), and the envy of all. So of course he hadn’t noticed her, a lowly freshman, in lecture hall.
Today the class had formed study groups. Zayn had done everything in her power to be in Noel’s, but a couple slutty sophomores beat her to the punch. She’d had to team up with some other loser first-year students instead.
Zayn refused to accept defeat, and instead quickly came up with an alternate way to get Noel’s attention:
Just as he was exiting the library, she would subtly bump into him, maybe even drop one of her books. She would pretend to be embarrassed, but Noel would smile and reassure her as he retrieved her textbook. They would start chatting, and soon they’d be heading to the student union to get to know each other better over coffee.
On her eighth trip around, Zayn spotted Noel exiting the building. He was alone and deeply engrossed in his mobile phone. She hurried to make sure their paths crossed.
She’d almost reached him when her heel caught on a piece of gravel on the walkway. She slipped and fell forward, slamming into Noel. Her things went flying everywhere as she bounced to the sidewalk.
“Hey, watch it,” Noel said, annoyed. “You almost made me drop my phone.”
Without a second look at her, Noel went back to his mobile. He stepped on a page of her biology notes as he walked away.
Zayn wanted to cry. She’d never had her spirits crushed and been embarrassed so completely. She got to her knees and started collecting her belongings.
“Hey, are you okay?”
Zayn looked toward where the voice had come from, and saw a young man with a friendly face, unruly, curly hair, and pale green eyes.
“Yeah, I’m just…you know…” Zayn turned her head so he wouldn’t see the reddening of her cheeks. Of course someone saw her make a fool of herself.
“What a jerk that guy was,” the other student offered his hand to help her up. “He ran right into you.”
“Well, actually, I kind of ran into him.” Zayn mumbled as she got to her feet.
“Still,” the man brushed some loose bangs out of his eyes and handed her the remaining materials she’d dropped.
“Thanks,” Zayn hoped she didn’t appear as mortified as she felt.
“You’re taking Intro to Psych, huh?” The student indicated the largest of her textbooks.
“Me and every other freshman on campus.”
“We must be in different sections,” the man said. “I’d definitely have noticed you.”
Zayn smiled in spite of herself. This guy was cute, and he may have even been flirting.
“I’m Harry,” he offered his hand to shake.
“Zayn.”
“Pretty name.”
“Thanks.” Before she got too lost in Harry’s dimples, Zayn reminded herself she had chapters to read for a quiz the next day. “I should really…”
“Oh, right.” There was a trace of disappointment in Harry’s voice. “Well, maybe I’ll see you during one of the psych experiments. They always use freshmen as guinea pigs, I’ve heard.”
“Yeah. Maybe.”
Harry lingered a bit longer, then raised his hand in a little wave.
“I’ll see you around.”
He got halfway to the science building before Zayn came to her senses.
“Hey, Harry?” She called after him.
“Yes?”
“I think I owe you coffee for helping me. Have some time to go to the student union?”
Harry’s smile was huge. Zayn couldn’t not return it, though hers was more modest.
“I sure do.” He answered.
Zayn caught up to Harry, and when he offered to carry her books, Zayn let him.
Her last thought of a certain rude, arrogant, not-really-all-that-attractive-after-all junior was;
Noel, who?
