4bdnsn0wflake, and I hope everybody had a great time this week.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who left prompts and those who filled them!
The final theme of the week is Post-Canon.
Prompts and fills should be about things that happen after the story, movie, TV show, etc. ends. You can also prompt ongoing series based on where the story is paused.
If you decide to prompt/fill with a series that is ongoing, please stay conscious of the spoiler rules, and use a spoiler warning when appropriate.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ MCU, Natasha Romanov, retirement
+ The Boondock Saints, Connor MacManus+Murphy MacManus, prison life
+ Ouran High School Host Club, Souh Tamaki/Fujioka Haruhi, wedding day
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-05-22 11:01 pm (UTC)Steve wants Danny in his life forever, and he has for a long time. But he only started to stop by jewelry stores and stare at wedding bands a year and a half ago.
Danny would probably shake his head and laugh if he knew since they weren't even together at that point. But with Danny apparently thinking about retiring and opening a restaurant, Steve was concerned that he might lose Danny from his life altogether. And a voice snuck in, whispering of the one way he could keep Danny in his life forever.
Of course, Steve had to actually tell Danny how he felt. That was a huge obstacle, and the only reason Steve said anything was that he was loopy from a fever brought on by a bad bout of sickness from radiation poisoning. The next day, once Danny had confirmed that Steve hadn't been hallucinating someone else when he told Danny that he was in love with him, they started a relationship.
They've only been dating for a few months, but the easy familiarity between them makes it feels like years. Steve has never felt more content, more settled and right, than he has since he finally got together with Danny.
That's why he actually bought an engagement ring a couple of weeks ago. It's been hidden on a shelf in his closet where Danny doesn't look since then, but Steve knows it's only there temporarily. This is different than the engagement ring he bought for Catherine years ago after her brief return to him. That one had been bought because it seemed like the timing was appropriate, purchased with a sense of unease and fear that she would leave him if he didn't propose. Ultimately, it ended up unused and lingering at the bottom of a drawer. But this latest ring was bought because Steve wants Danny to marry him, even if he will stay without a proposal. This has nothing to do with timing, and if anything, the ring was bought a bit early in their relationship. Steve knew as soon as he saw the ring that it was meant to sit on Danny's hand, and he bought it with confidence and anticipation. He just has to find a way to pop the question.
When he does, it's nothing spectacular or even particularly romantic. Steve wakes up one morning, and the first thing he notices is the weight of Danny's head resting on his chest. And Steve thinks the little moments like these with Danny are better than what he ever thought he would have and even surpass the dreams he thought were too unrealistic to ever come true.
He carefully moves Danny out of his arms, making sure that his head is resting on the pillow, before he gets out of bed to retrieve the ring. He grins as he walks through their room, which used to just be his, and notices all of the tiny ways Danny has added to it. He sees a few pictures of Charlie and Grace in various places and is pleased with the fact that his room already resembles the room of a married couple with two kids.
Once he retrieves the ring, he kneels next to the side of the bed closest to Danny, draws in a couple of breaths to give him strength, and gently shakes Danny's arm.
Danny makes an annoyed noise at being awoken before he sits up fully and turns to face Steve with a confused expression. "Babe, what's going on? And what the hell are you doing kneeling by the bed?"
Steve chuckles, amusement at Danny mixed slightly with nerves at what he's about to do. "Something I've wanted to do for a long time. Okay, so, first of all, I love you."
Danny squints at him, evidently still baffled by Steve's behavior. "Okay? I love you, too."
"When I woke up this morning, I thought that being with you is the happiest I've ever been." Steve makes the effort to gaze into Danny's eyes, even though it makes him feel vulnerable to share eye contact while he's saying these things. Danny makes Steve capable of doing a lot of things he thought he couldn't do before. "You're the man of my dreams, but I don't think I could have dreamed you up."
Danny blushes and then his eyes widen as he starts to put the clues together. "Steve--"
FILL: 2/2
Date: 2017-05-22 11:02 pm (UTC)He smiles shakily and stares up at Danny's shocked, but ecstatic, face. "Will you marry me?"
Danny nods frantically. "Yes, yes, of course." He's so happy that his eyes are starting to water, and Steve's right there with him now that Danny said yes.
Danny reaches out his left hand, and Steve takes it between his own and slides the ring onto Danny's finger. He looks at the ring on Danny's finger and feels so giddy that he starts spontaneously kissing Danny's hand.
Danny giggles. "Get up here, you goof."
Steve stands up, and Danny immediately pulls him on top of him and drags him into a kiss that makes him breathless. After the kiss, Danny leans his head back against the pillow to breathe, but his arms and legs are still wrapped around Steve.
Steve's awe at this moment is echoed by Danny, who is staring up at Steve like he just performed some kind of divine miracle. He lets his hand wander lightly over Steve's back, sending little sparks racing wherever his fingers touch. "We just got engaged," he whispers with a smile.
Steve grins back. "We did." He leans down to kiss the man of his dreams, his fiancé, again, looking forward to the day when he can call Danny his husband.

Date: 2017-05-19 08:06 pm (UTC)Hawaii Five-O, Reunion
Date: 2017-05-24 10:09 am (UTC)They'd ended up at a charming little B&B in Vermont. Just the two of them, no distractions. That's why on the second day of being there, he was surprised when Steve told him he had some things to take care. What the hell did he have to take care of during their vacation?
He was about to call Steve and give him a ration of shit when there was a knock on the door. He opened it to find the owner standing there. She looked at him sheepishly, holding a gray suit and a note. Handing both to him, she left him to wonder. Kicking the door closed he opened the note. It was from Steve, "Stop trying to figure this out. Get dressed and join me for dinner. I love you."
Ok, there wasn't much he could do at this point, except to get dressed and find Steve. He was met by the owner who ushered him out to the back yard. He walked out to find Steve standing there with a Justice of the Peace. They were offset by the setting sun. Steve, in his dark suit, took his breath away. Steve held out his hand to him. Without hesitation, he joined him.
"Don't be mad, I just wanted this to be about us. To marry you, here, now." Cupping his face, Steve kissed him. "Are you ready to get married." The next thing he knew, the were saying their "I do's". What was supposed to be a vacation, had become their honeymoon.
He still couldn't believe they were married, or that they were in New Jersey for his high school reunion. He was so nervous. He looked over at Steve and his heart fluttered. No, there were no regrets. It's just when he was last here, there had been no Steve. Sensing his rising stress, Steve got up from the bed. He wrapped his arms around Danny, pulling him in for a kiss. "Relax, things will be fine."
"I know, it's just my past . . ." His voice trailing off. "Let's get ready. I want to show you off."
"Will you come on already!" Danny opened the door to their hotel room, waiting for Steve to join him. They made their way to the banquet hall. The music could be heard from the hall. People were mulling around a table. He and Steve walked over to find it full of name tags. Finding his, he pinned it to the lapel of his suit jacket. He turned coming face to face with Debbie Salsberg.
"Danny Williams, I thought that was you." She leaned in for a hug, staying close a little to long, running her hands down his back. He laughed nervously, until he felt the familiar pressure on his back. He broke contact with her.
"Debbie, this is my husband, Steve." Steve extended his hand, "Nice to meet you." She looked him over, mouth opened in shock. "Ok, then, well we're going to go inside and say hello." Danny laced his fingers with Steve's and led him over to the doors to the banquet hall. Steve reached for and opened the door. Allowing Danny to enter first. Danny surveyed the room, looking for familiar faces.
"Hey, there's Skip and Rick. Come on, I want to introduce you to them. I need to show off my new husband." Steve raised their hands to his lips, kissing Danny's ring finger, the one wearing their matching wedding bands. They made their way through the crowd to the two men.
After exchanging initial hellos between old friends, Danny motioned to Steve. "Guys, this is my husband Steve." Danny smiled up, proudly at Steve. Steve smiled, shaking the other men's hands. "Nice to meet you both." Before they could comment, Danny was pulling him away to introduce him to more people. Soon, Steve wouldn't be able to tell who was who without their name tags.
He watched Danny, talking animatedly with a woman. Danny turned to him, smiling, motioning for him. He walked over hearing Danny, "Have you met my husband, Steve?"

Date: 2017-05-19 08:06 pm (UTC)SPN, Dean/Sam, retiring
Date: 2017-05-20 03:54 am (UTC)They were done, retired. Sam was taking night classes to earn his degree. Not in Law, but as a Paramedic. He didn't see that coming. But, as long as Sam was happy, he left it alone. He had questioned the choice in the beginning. Sam just shook his head, no longer having the desire to study Law. He still wanted to help people. For him this was the next best thing, rather than hunting. Dean could understand that.
Dean wasn't much into school, so the idea of getting a degree was out. Yeah, he had his GED. At first he wasn't sure what he was gonna do outside of hunting. He'd been driving, going no where special when he saw the help wanted sign in the window. Shrugging, he pulled his Impala into the parking lot. He sat for awhile, thinking this decision over. Pushing the door open, he got out and walked the short distance to the building.
Pulling open the door, the sounds from the garage rang out. He waited at the counter for someone to come out from the work area. A man, with the name Abe stitched on his work shirt greeted him.
"What can I do for you?"
Pointing to the sign, "I'm a, I saw your sign. I've got experience as a mechanic."
The man extended his hand. "I'm Abe, owner of this shop."
Shaking his hand, "I'm Dean."
Abe gave him the once over. "Got any references I can call?"
"No, just the '67 Impala sitting out there. Rebuilt her, she purs like a kitten."
Yeah, this is when the guy tells me to get lost. "Let's take a look under her hood. If I like what I see, I might give ya a trial run."
Dean followed him out. Popping the hood so Abe could look at his baby. "She was my dad's. I've kept her running like she's new."
Abe whistled. "She's a thing of beauty. You've done all the work, body work, engine repairs?"
"Yes, sir, I have. No one touches her, but me."
Nodding, Abe crossed his arms over his chest. He walked around the car, checking her out. "Alright, you come back tomorrow. We'll see what you can do. The money's not the greatest for an unlicensed mechanic. But, if ya work out here, it's something we can talk about."
Dean nodded his understanding. It was a beginning. A new life away from the hunting. He was willing to give it a shot.
"Thanks for giving me a chance."
"Be here at 7:00 a.m. I don't tolerate being late." Abe turned and walked back into the garage.
Dean pulled out of the parking lot. Driving back to the small two bedroom apartment he shared with Sam. Happy to be able to tell him he had a shot at a job.
This had been some eighteen months. He was now a licensed mechanic, still working for Abe. The man had taken a liking to them. Having them over for the holidays, the occasional Sunday dinner or barbecue.
The only thing left was to wait for Sam to walk in with his class for their graduation ceremony. He'd snagged a chair in the front row. He was so damn proud of his brother. Always had been. He rose with the other guests as the music began to play. Watching Sam walking down the aisle, head held high. He sat with what probably be described as a stupid grin on his face as Sam was called up for his license. He waited for Sam to finish having pictures taken with his class. He'd offered to throw a party for Sam. The answer had been no. He wanted to spend the rest of the day just the two of them.
"Sam, I'm proud of you." Sam hugged him. He heard Sam speaking.
"Thanks. I'm proud of you, too. Licensed mechanic, on your way to becoming a Master mechanic. Come on, let's go get a beer."
"Right behind you, Sam." He found he didn't miss the road or the hunt like he thought he would. Retirement was pretty good.

Date: 2017-05-23 11:56 pm (UTC)Smirking, Steve replied, "I'll get us there. Don't worry."
"Yeah, well I'd like to get there in one piece and alive to meet our first grandchild."
Steve wanted to say more, to reach a reassuring hand to him. But he knew that would only add to Danny's stress. After all, this was their daughter in the hospital. It didn't seem possible that Grace was married, what two years now? With a baby on the way. He felt such pride when he thought of Grace and Charlie. True, they were Danny's biologically, but they were his as well. There had never been any question about that. They had become a family long before he'd married Danny.
The call from Will had come about thirty minutes ago. He and Grace were at the hospital. She was in labor and their child was ready to greet the world. Danny had gone silent and pale as he listened to Will, having to hand the phone over to him. Wasn't it just the other day Grace was in elementary school? He shook his head, focus Steve. Gotta focus, because if something happens to them before they get to that hospital, Danny's gonna rip his heart out.
Steve had heard him the other day, trying to figure out what their grandchild should call them. Grandpa, Grampy, Papa? None of them seemed to fit Danny. Then, he muttered the one nickname he hated, Dano. He'd watched as a smile crossed his lips, making him glow with happiness. Steve had kissed him silly after that.
Pulling into the hospital's parking lot, he found the first available spot. Slamming the car into park, they both got out, slamming the doors shut before running to the main entrance. They came to a stop at the front desk, momentarily looking for the maternity ward. Fourth floor. The only thing stopping them was the wait for the elevator. Danny nervously hit the up button several times. Steve grabbed his hand. "Repeatedly pressing the button won't make it get here any faster." He rubbed a hand on Danny's back in a circular motion, trying to calm him.
The elevator's bell run, indicating it was here and open. They got in and made their way to the fourth floor. Reaching their destination, Danny practically jumped out of the elevator. Steve followed him to the reception desk. Looking around, they saw Rachel sitting in the waiting room to the right of the desk. They joined her, exchanging hellos and hugs. "Any news yet?"
Rachel only shook her head. "No, but you know how these things are. They baby will be born when he or she wants." Danny sat, letting out a harsh breath. Steve paced for awhile, stopping only when Danny snapped at him.
"Would you stop? You're gonna wear a hole in the carpet and you're getting on my nerves." Steve could only throw his hands up in surrender. This was not the time to snark out a comeback.
They heard someone clearing their throat and turned their attention to the door. Will stood there, wearing a disposable hospital gown. "Would anyone like to meet their grandchild?"
Danny, rose from his seat. They followed Will to Grace's room, Allowing Will to go first, followed by Rachel, Danny and then Steve. They crowded around the bed, congratulating Grace and Will. Seeing they baby tucked snugly in Grace's arms, Danny wiped at the tears in his eyes.
"Mom, Dads, meet your new grandson, Matthew Charles McIntyre."

Date: 2017-05-21 05:00 am (UTC)He looked around, making sure once more that everything was the way he liked it. The bar wasn't much, but it was theirs. At first Dean had thought Sammy had lost his mind when he'd suggested Dean buy the bar. But, he was happy he'd listened to Sam. When they'd driven into town, neither had a plan on what to do next. Crowley and Cas were dead. Mom was, well, he didn't know.
They'd stopped in for a beer, not knowing anyone in town. They took seats at the bar, ordered and surveyed their surroundings. The place was nearly full, music playing and people shooting pool or throwing darts. It had been a place they kept coming back to. They got to know the owner, Vinney. He'd told them about a couple places possibly looking to hire. They'd gotten jobs and a place to stay. Nothing fancy for either. But, they were earning money the legal way and had a real roof over their heads.
Dean had worked an extra shift at the plant one night. Instead of heading to the bar, he'd gone straight home, exhausted from working a sixteen hour day. Only to get up in less than twelve hours to work his normal shift. Sam had gone to the bar after his shift at the local grocery store. Starting as a bragger, he moved up to cashier and then shift manager in six months. He'd come home waking Dean up with news that couldn't wait until the morning.
"Dean, you asleep?" He asked as he flipped on the overhead light. "What the hell Sam, I was asleep." Sam dropped down on the bed, disregarding Dean's grunts at him. "I was talking to Vinney tonight. He's looking to sell the bar." Pulling his pillow over his face Dean just sighed. "You woke me up for this? Dude, I just worked a double. So what if he's looking to sell?"
Sam waited for Dean to move the pillow and look at him. Realizing Sam wasn't leaving, Dean rolled over, stuffing the pillow under his head. "So, I think you should buy it." His eyes popped open. "Buy what, the bar?" Sam shook his head, looking like a kid having the greatest idea in the world. "You'd be your own boss and you wouldn't have to work at the plant." He must be delirious. "Did you hit your head? Sam, go to bed and let me get some sleep." He felt Sam's weight lift from the bed, shutting off the light, Sam stood in the doorway. "Just think about it."
By the end of the month he found himself sitting in an office at their local bank. Sam had put together a business plan for buying the bar. He was signing the papers for the loan. He was buying the bar. But, it wasn't just the bar, it was the entire building, which also had three apartments. Two were rented out. The third was Vinney's and he'd be moving once the papers were signed. How was this possible? He'd made sure that Sam hadn't made any deals with a crossroads demon or angel. He looked over at Sam. He'd helped with this so Dean had made him a co-owner. This way, they both had something.
RE: SPN, Dean/Sam, There Will Be Peace part 2
Date: 2017-05-21 05:24 am (UTC)Taking the keys, Dean stood. "No, we're now the owners of the Cas and Crowley. Stop by for a drink sometime."
That had been nearly two years ago. Neither of them had any regrets over leaving the hunting behind or buying the bar. The bar was thriving, running in the black. Sam had been able to quit his job. He now took care of the finances for the bar and bartender. They had been able to keep the same tenants, bringing in enough rent to cover the mortgage. The tenants were quiet, pleasant and paid their rent on time. After Vinney moved, they'd taken the bottom apartment, making a home for themselves. They had been able to carve out a nice little life for themselves.
Dean turned and went into the back of the bar, passed the storeage room. The bar and their apartment were attached by a stairwell making it easy to get back and forth rather than having to use the separate entrances. Crossing to the second door, he opened it, calling to Sam.
"Sammy, the bar opens in fifteen. You gonna get your ass down here or what?"
"Yeah, I'm on my way." He heard Sam's thudding footsteps overhead and smiled.
They'd finally found the peace they deserved.

Date: 2017-05-28 08:00 pm (UTC)"You look nervous."
Joe turns slightly, gives Caitlin a quick, tight smile as he mops his forehead with a handkerchief, not for the first time this morning. "I'm not nervous."
The denial comes automatically, in the face of all possible evidence to the contrary and Caitlin smiles as she steps towards him. "He said nervously." She's teasing him, he knows, and when she makes a face, reaches up and straightens the bow tie that will not stay straight - which, yes, could be something to do with the fact that he keeps pulling at it because it feels like it's choking him - he closes his eyes and lets her presence, the touch of her hands on his skin, relax him. It gets a little easier when her hands move from his bow tie to his shoulders, smoothing down the jacket before she moves around to stand behind him, continuing the process.
"How's Iris?"
She's still behind him and his eyes are still closed but he hears her smile when she says, "Almost ready. Jesse's just putting the finishing touches to her make-up. Do you have your speech?"
His heart drops a little but a quick pat to his chest assures him that the cue cards he's practised with for the last two weeks are still there, safe and sound. "You're sure it's ok?" Because she's the one who's heard it more than anyone else, the one who's given him advice and feedback and laughed in all the right places.
She's not laughing now though. "You know it's beautiful. There won't be a dry eye in the house, mine included."
Which is the effect he was going for and he nods as she comes around to stand in front of him. Her hands land flat on his chest - very carefully, he notes - and he opens his eyes, looks down at her. "You know you look amazing," he says and she actually giggles. It's a most un-Caitlin-like sound, but it's one he gets to hear more than anyone else, one he cherishes.
"I actually do know that." Her eyes dance with merriment and she tosses her hair. "But it's nice to be told." They share a smile there and one of her hands moves slightly to rest over his heart. "This is the day you've been waiting for since Iris and Barry were eleven years old," she reminds him. "And there's nothing that's going to make it less than perfect."
Joe takes a deep breath, lets it out slowly as he lets his hands fall to her hips, careful not to ruffle the slippery material too much. "I don't know how any of us would have got through this without you," he tells her and he means it. She's been a rock to both him and Iris, going far beyond the expected role of a chief bridesmaid.
"Well, I'm sure you'll find a way to make it up to me..." She lets her voice trail off teasingly, a flirty smile playing around her lips. "After all, I'm led to believe that the bridesmaid never leaves a wedding alone..."
Dress be damned, he lets his hands move down over her ass, pulls her close against him. He wants to kiss her but he knows better - Jesse definitely doesn't have time to reapply Caitlin's make-up before the wedding is due to start. "Trust me," he says, "that's one bit of wedding lore that's definitely going to happen."
Caitlin stands on her tiptoes and brushes her lips over his carefully, before just as carefully cupping his chin in one hand and running her thumb over his lips. Before she can say anything though, there are footsteps from upstairs and they move away from one another just as Iris's voice floats down the stairs. "You two lovebirds had better not be canoodling and ruining those outfits..."
Joe grins at Caitlin. "Rain check?"
She grins back. "Count on it."

They had packed their shit up at the bunker and moved on. Finding an abandoned hunter's cabin to set up to in to recoup and plan their next move.
"Dean, I need to tell you something." Dean was startled by Sam's voice,. He hadn't heard him enter the room. Dean turned his attention to his little brother. His green eyes opened wide in surprise at seeing Sam standing there with his bags packed. "Dude, I can't do this anymore."
"You can't do what anymore?" He felt his anger begin to rise. "You can't look for Mom?"
"Yeah, no, I don't know." Sam ran a hand through his hair, a nervous tell he had. "I can't keep doing this. Every time it looks like we've won, the rug gets pulled out from under us. I'm tired of this life. I'm tired of all the shit we go through, for what?"
Dean pulled himself to his full height. "What the fuck, Sam? You're just gonna turn tail and run like a little bitch? What we do matters."
Sam took a step back. He wasn't sure that Dean wouldn't take a swing at him in the state he was in. "It matters to who? Who the fuck cares about what we do? I don't see anyone handing out awards for us killing all those demons. We've given everything for the family business. What's it gotten us? Nothing."
Dean just stared at him. His fingers curling in and out of fists. Was he hearing Sam right? He had no words left.
"Listen, I gotta get outta this before there's nothing for me to have. I need a life, not a hunt. You can come with me. We can leave the country, start over somewhere, anywhere else."
Dean looked up at Sam, seeing him for the first time as a man and not his little brother. Sam's eyes, pleading with him to understand. The pain on Sam's face at what he was saying. The anger was snuffed out of him. He shoved his hands into his pockets and looked away from him. His throat closed and he felt like he couldn't breath. He nodded, clearing his throat a couple of times before he could speak.
"Yeah, I understand. You were always meant for something better than being a hunter. You deserve a life."
Sam sucked in his breath, trying to understand what Dean was saying. "You do too. Deserve a life, I mean."
Dean turned from him, not wanting Sam to see the heartbreak in his eyes. "You got everything you need? Here, take this." Without looking at Sam, he pulled out the money in his pocket and held out to Sam.
"No, I'm good." Dean turned back and grabbed him. Hugging him like his life depended on it. "Take the damn money. Keep your eyes open. A lot of things out there want us dead."
Taking the money, he nodded. "I'll let you know where I end up. Maybe you can come . . ." His voice trailed off knowing it was about to crack from his emotions.
"Yeah, maybe." He hears Dean say. He picks up his bags and moves to the door. Dean opens it for him and watches as he walks to the car they'd hot wired the other day. He throws his bags in the back.
"Hey, Sam, I love you. Bitch." Dean's lips curl into a smile.
"Yeah, I love you, too. Jerk."
