We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-06-07 10:31 am (UTC)Hm. New Kids on the Blocks. Step by step. Jason had discovered his love for this popular group some time ago, much to the displeasure of Zeke, who preferred good rock music of the 1970s.
„You know, I love our son,“ he had complained.
„But his taste in music is awful.“
Casey had laughed.
„He's four, Zeke, what do you expect?“
The almost ear battering music increased when he entered the house, and he started to wonder where Zeke might be that he didn't step in. Half worried he opened the door and stopped dumbfound.
Was this still his livingroom? All the furniture were pushed at the walls. In the middle of the room, Zeke and Jason were swirling around to the music, giggling and laughing, not aware of the world around them. It seemed as if they had the best time of their life.
Shaking his head, Casey grabbed the remote control to turn the music down. Jason stopped dancing and spun around; when he noticed him a wide smile spread on his face.
„Hey, daddy.“
„Hey, sweety.“
He placed a fleetingly kiss on his son's heated, red face.
„Do you have fun?“
The little boy beamed.
„We are dancing.“
„I see. And this is the reason for rearranging the living room though we are expecting guests this evening?“
„Oh.“
Out of breath Zeke dropped down into on of the chairs and grabbed for his soda.
„Stan and Stokes? Our monthly gaming evening?“
Casey nodded.
„Right,“ he agreed.
„This morning I've asked you to go to the Minimart and buy some snacks, remember?“
Zeke was scratching his chin.
„To be honest, I didn't think about this anymore after the call of the pre-school. Sorry.“
„Hm. What's happened?“
„Do you know that we have a very talented son,“ Zeke asked and his eyes were sparkling.
„Remember the drawing competition in Ohio and Indiana some months ago? Mrs. McGill, Jay's teacher, convinced us to take part although it was contracted out for children between six and ten years.“
„I did win,“ Jason chipped in, jumping from one foot to the other.
„You did? Woah. That's ...“
Casey pulled him into his arms and twirled him around.
„... wonderful. Honey, I'm sooo proud of you.“
And indeed, he was. He always had been, despite all the problems they had had at first. To say that the boy had a terrible family background was an understatement. It had taken some time to deal with all the problems he had. When he had been three years old, his therapist had suggested a painting therapy, and Jason had responded well. He liked painting a lot, and it was a pleasant surprise that he seemed to be pretty talented.
„He didn't only win,“ Zeke said and grinned wide.
„He placed second. From more than 2000 participants. A lot of them much older than he is.“
Suddenly Casey felt tears of gratitude and joy burning his eyes; he pulled Jason in his arms to hide them. Sometimes the emotions were just too overwhelming. Only some years ago he had still been the geek at Highschool; no one cared about him, not even his parents had ever backed him up. But he had refused to give up. Now he was working for a small photo studio which gave him enough room to implement his own ideas. He was married to Zeke, the only guy he had always wanted. And, maybe this was the biggest gift, he had the most wonderful son he could imagine. Life was just great, wasn't it?
Zeke gently touched his shoulder and finally tore him out of his thoughts.
"So, what do you think? Is this a good excuse for stepping over the line a bit?"
Casey chuckled.
"For sure. Partytime. You should call Joeys and order the biggest pizza they offer. And we two...“
He turned back to Jason and smiled.
„We will go to the attic, look for garlands and balloons. No party without balloons, right?“
Jason giggled happily; Zeke smiled.
"Stan and Stokes," he reminded Casey.
„Should I call them? Maybe we can meet next week.“
Casey shook his head.
„No need for that. I bet they won't mind a good party with pizza and New Kids on the Blocks."

Any/any It's Traditional
Date: 2017-06-06 01:27 pm (UTC)"Hey, so I was thinking." Danny turned in his arms to face him as he continued. "We should do the funky chicken dance at our wedding." Danny pulled back from him, eyes wide in amazement.
"Have you lost your mind? That is not happening." He folded his arms across his chest, essentially ending the conversation. Steve chose ignore this.
"Come on Danny, it'll be fun." Steve pouted, trying to sway Danny's decision. Danny wasn't giving in on this.
"Steve, the answer is no. It won't be fun. It's stupid."
Steve reached out for Danny, only to find him taking another step away from him. "Danny, everyone does it. People have a fun time." He watched as Danny narrowed his eyes at him. Yeah, this was not going to be an easily won battle. If he won at all. Danny could be very stubborn when he dug his heels in.
"Look, I hate that song and the dance. Most people are drunk and make fools of themselves. Someone always turns an ankle and then . . . "
He didn't get to finish his sentence as Steve moved forward, catching his bottom lip with his teeth. He teased the lip with a slight bite before running his tongue over the area. He slid his tongue into Danny's mouth causing him to give a small gasp. Steve felt him leaning into his touch, his tongue meeting his. He continued placing kisses along Danny's jawline. Steve nipped at Danny's neck, causing him to shudder. He whispered into Danny's ear.
"Please."
Danny broke from the embrace, putting a hand up to stop any further caresses. "No."
"It's traditional!"
"I don't care, we're not doing the funky chicken at our wedding!" Danny walked out of the kitchen, leaving Steve to stare after him.
"Come on, Danny. Can't we talk about this?" He heard Danny call back to him from the living room.
"We just did. The answer's no."
Sighing, Steve brought his hand up and rubbed the back of his head. Yeah, he'd lost this battle, but not the war.

Date: 2023-03-29 07:31 pm (UTC)It is an unfortunate fact of life, Kel muses, that when one is a war hero and friends with nobility, one must attend marriage ceremonies. Such pagentry has always bewildered her but page and squire training helped acclimate her to Tortall's standards, and her childhood in the Yamini Isles saw her witness ancient rituals with hours of ceremony.
To be honest, the entire thing has always been exhausting but as both Neal and Yuki want her standing with them, she endures.
At the celebration after, Kel tries to fade into the background. She knows that next to the ladies in all their finery, she'll stick out (and not just because she's so much taller) and draw attention. For a little while, she manages. But then Neal bounces over to ask for a dance, and then Cleon and Owen, Yuki and Cricket, Dom and Raoul, her parents --
With a sigh and a smile, Kel resigns herself to the dancefloor and maintains her placid exterior even when Lord Wyldon tapped Cleon on the shoulder and requested to dance with Kel.
Perhaps, she muses, not all marriage celebrations are terrible.
