[identity profile] guiltyreasons.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] comment_fic
Hey, I’m [livejournal.com profile] guiltyreasons and I’ll be your guest host this week. Our first prompt is Questions Only.

All your prompts must be in the form of a question. Could be in the 6 W’s format(What, When, Where, Why, Who, How) or an single word with a question mark behind it like Really? or Banana?. Doesn’t matter how you use it, but there has to be a question mark in there.

No more than 5 prompts in a row, and no more than 3 prompts per fandom. If one of your prompts is answered, you can prompt again.

No spoilers in your prompts for at least one week after publication/air date. If there are spoilers in your story, you must warn in bold and leave at least 3 spaces.

Please, please format your posts correctly. A few examples:

Torchwood, Jack/Ianto, “You’re putting that where?”

X-men, Wolverine, “Shortie?”

Supernatural/Heroes, Dean/Matt, “What am I thinking now?”

Not in a questioning mood. Feel free to go check out the lonely prompts.

"I'll just be a minute," Dean tells Sam, handing him a small bundle of notes to get supplies; he trusts Sam better than himself for getting food that'll actually last on a hunting trip.

He couldn't say why he needed to walk over to the pier, why he needed to sit down and swing his legs over the side. He's not been fishing in years; admittedly, does actually miss it, and probably should get around to doing it again at some point, but Sam's a little fonder of going after food rather than waiting for it to come to him. Been a while since they took down something really impressive but truth be told, Dean generally prefers rabbits and birds to big game; and not just 'cause they're easier to cook and way, way easier to clean.

The sun's warm on his face and he feels peaceful to an almost unsettling degree; like he's been waiting for this; but there's still a sense of something missing that he can't entirely place.

Sam shouts him over after a half hour or so passes, bitching when Dean takes his time, and Dean can't entirely blame him; it's getting kind of late and putting up a tent in the dark is a bitch. He just can't entirely shake that sense of something being out of place, as strangely at home as he had felt on that pier.

He stops again on the way back, books them into a motel before heading out to the pier, leaving the room for Sam and the girl he took a liking to in the local bar, settles down on the end. It's night-time now, but cloudy and not as cold as it could be, and he frowns in discomfort on sitting down before pulling out from under his backside the source of his discomfort.

As far as necklaces go, it's not exactly glamourous, but it's weirdly familiar and he feels an urge to keep hold of it, even knowing it isn't his; doesn't even realise he's holding it funny until he hears a guy saying, "Can I take a look at that?"

He almost says no, but turns to hand it over, and finds himself staring despite himself. Dean's never - he's never, ever stopped still looking at a guy. Not ever. But he's gawping like a thirteen year old who's just seen boobs for the first time, and he goes bright red with the realisation. "Uh, hi, yeah." Nice and smooth.

The other guy looks at him, cocks his head, before looking out at the water and back at him. "Well, this is - unusual."

Dean nods, because there's no way in hell he's saying 'Hi, I think I know you' to someone he knows, knows he's never met before. "Yeah. You -" oh, fuck, no, he's not going to say 'Do you come here often'. "You, uh. You from around here?"

The other guy sits down next to him, stares at him, and okay, Dean's pretty sure he's never been checked out this blatantly before by someone who isn't absolutely wasted.

And he's pretty sure he's never been so convinced the person checking him out this blatantly wasn't wasted. "Look, I -"

The other guy smiles. "I'm Castiel," he says, looking at the necklace he's taken off Dean's hands before handing it back. "You should have this."

"I don't know you," Dean says, and Castiel shrugs.

"I don't either," Castiel says. "But - but I feel I should change that."

Dean goes to put the necklace in his pocket before changing his mind, opting to actually wear it; can't get over the staring, or the weirdly precise way the guy talks. "You foreign or something?"

"No. Just strange." Castiel smiles a little, as if he's not quite used to smiling, and Dean laughs despite himself.

"Yeah, well. I'm kinda bored of normal." Dean smiles back, before propping himself back on his arms. Castiel raises an eyebrow before copying him.

Dean knows now what was missing.

Completely loved this. The necklace and the pier and the brothers being 'hunters' :) Thank you for writing such a pretty piece.

Thank you very much :). I'm glad you liked! For some reason I just couldn't shake the idea of the pier in Dean's dreams being a real place.
