Now that we’ve had our share of pet peeves it’s time to Forgive and Forget
Is your character holding a grudge? Now the time to have them let it go. Give forgiveness or let them receive it. Or give them Amnesia whatever floats your boat.
But remember:
No more than 5 prompts in a row, and no more than 3 prompts per fandom. If one of your prompts is answered, you can prompt again.
No spoilers in your prompts for at least one week after publication/air date. If there are spoilers in your story, you must warn in bold and leave at least 3 spaces.
And use the correct formatting. Examples:
Being Human, Goerge/Mitchell, After a full moon George feels guilty and Mitchell helps him forgive himself
Marvel, Deadpool/author's choice, It's all in the past....right?
Being Human/Torchwood, Jack/Mitchell, “Did you forget me so soon?”

Date: 2011-03-07 07:58 pm (UTC)He'd been waiting for longer than he'd ever thought he could be alive. Time wore on him, and the rage turned into a dull burn at the back of his skull. By the time he found the Doctor's hand, it was just another part of him, a part of his armor against loss and a world that bred it.
He imagined their reunion easily a thousand times, sometimes ranting and raving, sometimes begging and crying, sometimes even killing the Doctor himself. Never did he imagine what actually happened.
It was a new Doctor, which meant he'd died sometime since they'd last seen each other. Not that it meant much in the grand scheme of things-for the Doctor it could have been a thousand years since he last saw Jack.
He knew, though, without having to be told. He made no excuses, just accepted responsibility. Neither did he beg for forgiveness, but Jack knew him well enough to know that some part of him wanted to.
With the Doctor, there was no time for grudge holding, or for forgiveness. Just running and saving the world. Again.
It wasn't until they reached Yana's lab that Jack got a chance to really talk to him, and even then he made a study of being inscrutable, smiling and paying all of his attention to this new girl and the old man who needed his help.
He wasn't sure when he started to forgive him. Perhaps he'd already started before they met again. He wasn't normally the sort to hold a grudge, after all.
Perhaps it was the stricken look on his face when he recognized Jack, or perhaps it was the overly casual air in which he went about his business, as good as a sign on his forehead saying he was uncomfortable.
Jack had once claimed that he could never doubt the Doctor. In a strange way, he never had. He'd been so sure there was a good reason, perhaps some grand plan or perhaps he just didn't know.
This reminder that he was still fallible, just a man after all... it should have been a disappointment but in a strange way it redeemed him.
After all, a fallible man could be hated and derided, yes, but he could also be loved. Jack was finally free to love him as a man, not as some grander power too far above him to understand.
It hit him as they sat huddled on the edge of town, trying desperately to avoid detection. By the way his lips responded eagerly to his own, it was clear that the Doctor understood.
