Tuesday: Life Advice

4bdnsn0wflake again, and today’s theme is Life Advice.
That is, prompts should be proverbs (“a stitch in time saves nine”), common advice (“look both ways before crossing the street”), old wives’ tales (“if you keep making that face, it’ll stick like that”), and the like.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Shadowhunters, any character(s), with great power comes great responsibility

"Not helpful."
"But literally true. Ten does come after eleven."
Wade sighed, a sound that was less put upon and more like a balloon deflating. "I meant the poem, Mr. Literal Pants."
"Literal pants? Literally neither one of us is wearing pants and it's less of a poem and more of a nursery rhyme. Something for kids to recite or sing."
"Why?" Wade's frown was so intense it could be seen through the material of his suit. "Why would you make kids sing that?"
"I don't know. People are weird. Ring around the rosy is about the bubonic plague and rock a bye baby has the baby falling out of a tree."
"Wha?" Wade sat down suddenly, his legs crossing as he landed on the rooftop.
"Yep." Peter nodded, then gently patted Wade on the shoulder. "Also, it's about magpies so it really doesn't matter what comes after ten."

Still, nice banter. ;)

Date: 2017-08-02 12:52 pm (UTC)Alec slammed his fist down on his desk. Magnus could be so infuriating at times. It was funny to watch him be this way with others. But not when it was directed at him. So, why couldn't he understand that Alec couldn't always tell him everything? He didn't expect that from Magnus. He knew there were things in Magnus' life he couldn't or wouldn't talk about. But, he'd never pushed the issue.
Alec had just found out that day the the Clave was not in possession of the Soul Sword. It wasn't even a choice of keeping the Institute's business private. Not at that time. They needed to figure things out before anyone found out. He was going to confide in Magnus. Had every intention to do so. But, Magnus had confronted him. Accused him of keeping secrets.
That's why he was back at the Institute. When he returned everyone had given him a wide berth, sensing the mood he was in. Once he'd dealt with the business at hand he sought out Jace. Hoping that sparring with him would help elevate his mood. Not so much. Leading with his heart instead of his mind, he found himself on his back more often than not. Frustrated, he nearly put his fist through the wall. Luckily, Jace had stopped him.
He sat on the bench, trying to even out his breathing. Jace sat next to him. His parabatai pointing out that he needed to get his head in the game before one or both of them ended up hurt or dead. Nodding, he agreed. He felt Jace place a hand on his shoulder.
"Look, I'm not one for getting involved in anyone's life or love life, but you two need to work this out. He was hurt because he saw you not confiding in him as slap in the face. He thought it was because he's a downworlder. Nothing more."
Alec looked at him, blue eyes flashing with anger before he realized Jace was right. He got up and made his way to his room. Looking around it, he felt out of place. He was always staying with Magnus, where he should be right now. He fought the desire to leave, to go to Magnus. He paced the room trying to figure out how to reconcile himself with the Institute and being with Magnus.
A knock at the door drew him out of his thoughts. Eyeing the clock, he noticed it was after eleven at night. Who could possibly be up and needing his attention? Opening the door, he found Magnus standing in front of him. He stepped aside, allowing Magnus to enter the room and shut the door behind him. Magnus didn't look at him, finding the carpet and his feet more interesting for the moment. Alec looked anywhere but at him. A cough from Magnus finally brought Alec's eyes up.
"So, what are you doing here?" He winced at the sound of his voice. It sounded harsh, which wasn't what he intended.
Magnus took a step forward, leaning in to Alec. "I'm sorry about earlier. I shouldn't have treated you like that."
Alec nodded. "Me too. I'm sorry."
He felt Magnus press against him. He smiled at the welcomed warmth of his body. He heard Magnus murmur to him. "Besides, I need my goodnight kiss. Aren't you always supposed to kiss me goodnight?" He asked before pressing his lips to Alec's.
After the kiss, Alec drew back laughing. "I think the saying is, Always kiss me goodnight."
Magnus looked into his eyes. "Whatever. Just kiss me."
"That I can do." Alec whispered with a smile.
