Happy Hump Day! I’m
drabblewriter and today's theme is apocalypse. Prompts can be anything having to do with the end, real or perceived, of the world as we know it.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The Adventure Zone, any, the Hunger wins
+ Yuri on Ice, any, it seems foolish to miss something like skating after the world has ending, but they can't help it
+ Star Wars, any, a planet-wide natural catastrophe
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2017-09-13 03:33 am (UTC)Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice. Fire and Ice, Robert Frost

Date: 2017-09-13 03:46 am (UTC)Viktor/Yuuri, post-apocalypse
Date: 2017-09-13 10:20 pm (UTC)An excerpt:
The silence isn't comfortable as it used to be, right after they got married. Now the world's a wasteland and they're alert. They don't know what's up with other humans; have they been intoxicated by the radiation? Are they aggressive? They only have themselves.
Yuuri takes a sip of the water Viktor's purified. He's glad his husband read so many of those survival manuals because they needed it as soon as the world turned to dust.
"I..." Yuuri licks his lips. He hasn't spoken his mother tongue in months, the words and phrases he used to say to his family and the Nishigoris in the back of his throat. All of them dead, most likely. The thought makes his skin itch. "I miss skating."
He knows it's stupid, and he half-expects Viktor to laugh at him. There he is, in the middle of an atomic wasteland, no clue of whether other humans are around. And he's missing the feeling of blades in the ice, his breath quick as he finished his program. He misses it.
"I miss it too," Viktor says then, after a few painfully long seconds. "I miss the ice. Not so much the fame, though."

Date: 2017-09-13 04:45 am (UTC)One day,
The snow began to fall,
And slowly, inch by inch,
Covered up the earth.
'Til finally,
The top of the tallest building,
Was lost beneath a powdered sea,
As quiet as a shadow's grave.

And we pray that the world isn't dying.
And just maybe the world isn't dying.
Maybe she's heavy with child.

Date: 2017-09-14 12:29 am (UTC)"Alec, please get up. We need to pack only what we need and then leave." Magnus bent down, trying to get Alec's attention.
Alec finally moved, only to look up at him and nod. He slowly stood and went into the bedroom. He returned a few minutes later with a black duffle bag packed with his clothing.
"Ok, I'm packed. My clothes and a few things we made needed. What about you? Are you packed?" Alec looked around not seeing another bag. He returned to the bedroom and packed for Magnus. He returned to find Magnus packing some of his books. "I've packed for you. Are you ready?"
"Yeah, I just need to grab something else and then I'll be ready to leave." Magnus rummaged around in his desk until he found what he was looking for. It was a picture of a woman. One Alec had never seen before. But, now was not the time to question who it was or why Magnus needed it.
Magnus turned from him and spoke in a language Alec had yet to fully understand. He dropped his hand, waiting for the portal to appear. Nothing happened. Magnus recited the words again. Growing frantic as nothing happened. Magnus turned to Alec, desperation showing on his features. His magic was useless. No, his magic was gone.
"Alec, my magic it's gone. I can't open a portal to get us to safety." Magnus looked at Alec, not knowing what to do.
Alec walked over to him and placed his arms around him. "Shh, Magnus. It's okay. You're okay. It's just a dream. You're having a nightmare. Magnus, wake up."
Magnus jolted awake. Finding himself tangled in the blankets and Alec's arms. Alec's warm smile on him, comforting him, Alec leaned in a placed a kiss on his forehead and rubbed his arms to sooth him.
"It was just a dream." Alec said as he took Magnus' hand in his. "What was it about?"
Magnus shuddered. "The Apocalypse and my magic was gone. It was horrible."
Leaning in again, Alec kissed him. "I bet. You without magic? You'd never survive."
Magnus punched Alec on the arm and laughed. "Well, thankfully we don't have to find out."

Date: 2017-09-14 03:33 am (UTC)That was the bad part, that she just couldn't stop her tears from coming. And the tears might not be so bad, if she wasn't the goddess who'd created the world.
So the tears rolled off her cheeks and into the oceans, swelling them out of their beds, so the beings she'd created along with him had to scramble to high ground. And her tears came so fast and hard, high ground was coming at a premium.
He saw all this happening and shook his head. Surely she should've gotten over this by now? He'd let her down easy. Said it wasn't her, it was him. They could still be friends.
But look now: the world, their world, drowned in her sorrow.
It would teach him, he thought, to do things on his own without feminine help. And with that in mind, he took himself off across the universe, determined to start over elsewhere.
And in one small part of the high ground, a man swore the God spoke to him, telling him to build a boat large enough to hold two of all the animals in the world...but that's another story.
