be_themoon , guest-hosting this week. Firstly, thanks to monica_catch22 for stepping in for me yesterday. Secondly! Today's theme is On The Road - road trips, commuting to work, driving home for the holidays, going across country for a job - any way you want to spin it!
You guys know the rules: No more than 5 prompts, and only 3 prompts per fandom unless someone answers one of your prompts.
No spoilers in your prompt until a week after air-date - if there are spoilers in your story, you need to warn and leave three spaces.
And of course, remember the format! Fandom, Character/Character, prompt.

Date: 2009-10-21 10:26 am (UTC)That was all Jesse's fault, and that unnatural power that reared its head every now and again, when Jesse really, really wanted something with all his heart and soul. No childish whims--at least, not since the war ended.
He sighs, and Jesse shifts beside him. Ben smiles, begrudgingly. Can't really be upset at the man who wanted him alive so badly that he managed to reverse death, no matter the physical and mental toll on himself. No matter how fragile and unworthy it makes Ben feel.
He wonders if this is anywhere near how Uncle Sam felt, after. At least, Ben doesn't have to worry about Jesse going to hell. Been there, done that, laid waste to the place. He hasn't seen a demon in five years, not since…
But he can't think about her, not now, so he wraps an arm around Jesse and whispers "Thank you" into his skin.

Ben looked up, let out a deep breath. Dean looked nervous, and was rubbing at his jaw. The sight almost made Ben smile. His mom apparently packed one hell of a punch.
She was also apparently one hell of great liar.
"Hey."
Dean cleared his throat, then seemed to come to a decision. He crossed the room in a few strides and sat down next to Ben, fidgeting a little.
"Your mom tell you what's going on?"
"I guess so."
Dean sighed. "Believe me, I wish you never had to learn any of this. But you don't need to worry. No demon is ever going to touch you, not on my watch."
"Yeah, I know."
They sat in silence for a few minutes. Then Dean cleared his throat again, got to his feet. "I gotta go meet Sam. You gonna be okay?"
Ben nodded.
Dean was almost out the door before he stopped, turned around. "You know, I'd give anything for things to be different for you."
Ben shrugged. "Yeah. But if they were, you wouldn't be my dad. That's still kind of cool."
Dean smiled at him, then turned and quickly left the room.
Ben was pretty sure he'd managed to hide how absolutely freaked out he really was. Had been every since he'd come home to find Mom arguing heatedly with someone on the phone.
Had it only been yesterday that his life was something resembling normal?
