I want to thank everyone who raised your hand when I put out a request for a new mod. It wasn't an easy choice. We have wonderful members who want to help.
However, in the end a decision had to be made, and I'm hear to tell you all about it.
Everyone, please welcome
tresa_cho who will be joining the mod staff, effective today, as our Chief Contest Coordinator person.
tresa_cho will be hosting our contest weekends on the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month and will be responsible for the counting and announcement of winners, along with coordinating prizes. She will also help with other modly things as they come up and will be an integral part of coordinating the larger contests.
In a side word about contests, I know I haven't paid out on the last couple of winners, but I will soon. Money has been very, very tight round here. Please accept my apologies.
If anyone cares to help with the contest costs, we do accept donations. Paypal to commentficmods@gmail.com.
I'd like to take this moment to thank my mod staff:
badfalcon,
monica_catch22 &
havenward who have worked hard to make this comm work. Also, a big thank you to
raggedy_edge for her help wrangling graphics.
And, of course, to all of you, who make the comm possible.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled Tuesday. Go fic, folks!

Date: 2009-11-05 09:45 pm (UTC)When is "soon" going to be? I'm sorry, but I didn't do the lonely prompts challenge for a badly done graphic. I did it for the promise of paid LJ time. I completed over Two months ago. I hate to be a bitch, but if you're going to promise something, you ought to deliver it.
I don't mind waiting, but waiting over *two months* is ridiculous.

Date: 2009-11-05 10:51 pm (UTC)Mostly the money that runs this comm comes out of my pocket. I pay for everything except what a few donations cover, and I do it because I love to encourage and support the people who prompt and write for this comm. I adore the comm and the people in it. I love seeing what new hosts come up with for themes and how the prompters and writers interpret that theme. I spend most of my LJ time working on this comm and talking with my mods about this comm.
For the last three months I have been struggling to pay my rent and my car payment. I don't say this lightly. I am not exaggerating. I have been living through some very tight months due to unexpected financial and health related problems. I am living off of rice and ramen, and I am literally collecting pennies to pay my rent.
Now, if you'd like I could catch up the last four months (or possibly more) that I have not given out the awards today.
It will mean I will lose my job, because the money I just deposited is meant to put gas in my car and pay for my medications which make it possible for me to actually work.
It will also mean I don't eat until my next paycheck because I have no food in the house. But if your Live Journal paid time is that important, by all means, I understand.
I have donations to cover about half of the awards I owe out. I am hoping that I can toss in the rest out of my next paycheck.
I am going to be using part of this weekend to make sure I have all the user names I need to get to, starting with the oldest first, which may mean you have to wait until next weekend when I get paid, since you are not the oldest.
I made a promise when I started out that with or without donations I would hand out paid time as awards because it seemed like a nice incentive. I intend to keep that promise.
A little patience, if you don't mind. In the grander scheme of things, a few months paid time on LJ is not the end of the world.
And I'm sorry if you feel your graphic was badly done. Our graphics people do try the best they can and are only volunteers here, just like the rest of us.
