Tuesday: All Hallow's Eve
Oct. 31st, 2017 05:01 amHello, everyone. I’m
bleodswean and today's theme is All Hallow’s Eve. As we "mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year" (Samhain), today's prompts are related to Halloween.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
Wuthering Heights, Catherine/Heathcliff, Heathcliff spends a cold night at Catherine’s grave
Riverdale, Jughead/Betty, #secondchildhood - on their way to a costume party
The Vampire Diaries, Damon/Elena, The Salvatore children want to know why they aren’t allowed to dress up as vampires on Halloween.
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-01-03 04:41 am (UTC)Elena gripped the knife hilt harder. “Damon,” she said as calmly as she could. “It was your idea to give the kids sugar before dinner. Please go see why they are screaming.”
Her husband got up, pressing a kiss to the side of her head. “I’m sure it’s nothing that you need to be stressing about.”
She just stopped herself from stabbing the knife into the cutting board as more high pitched screaming echoed. “Please go stop your children from killing each other.”
“Yes, dear.”
A minute later, she could hear squealing from the other room and then Damon’s voice. With a sigh, she picked the knife up from where she’d set it. “Damon? Please do not…” she gave up as another yell echoed from the other room. “He’s a bigger child than they are,” she informed the golden retriever curled up by the door.
As she slid the pan into the oven, Damon galloped into the kitchen. Sydney was chasing after him while Scott clung to Damon’s neck, laughing with glee. Elena turned to see Sydney grab at her father and brother. “Okay, out of the kitchen,” Elena said with her own laugh.
“Mommy?” Sydney said as Damon swung around.
“Yes?” Elena asked. She moved around her laughing family to pull salad things out of the fridge.
“Daddy said we can’t dress up as vampires for Halloween. Why?”
Elena froze. She and Damon had discussed telling the kids about having been vampires, but they had planned to wait until the kids were older. “Well,” she said, setting the salad things on the counter. “Many years ago, your dad and I made some mistakes. We…”
“Your mom and I used to be vampires,” Damon broke in. “And we don’t want to be reminded of that by having you dress up like those Hollywood vampires.”
Scott wiggled himself loose from Damon’s grasp. “You were a vampire? So cool!”
Elena chuckled. “Yeah. Cool isn’t exactly the word I would use.”
“Will you tell us more?” Sydney asked.
Elena met Damon’s eyes, visions of all the mistakes and choices and good times passing between them. “Yeah,” she said. “We will.”

Date: 2018-04-01 01:11 am (UTC)For a moment there was silence from the Athosian children before they burst into excited questions and some giggles. Sheppard sighed. He’d hoped that by telling the story to a younger group of Athosians, they would be properly scared.
“Uncle Ronon!” Torren yelled, jumping up from where he was sitting.
Sheppard twisted around, peering up at the taller Satedan. “Hey, come, sit down while I tell another story,” he invited.
“Uncle John’s stories are funny,” Torren explained.
Ronon picked the little boy up, tossing him over one broad shoulder before sitting down. He set Torren in his lap and looked at Sheppard, waiting expectantly.
“They aren’t supposed to be funny,” John grumbled. “They’re scary stories.”
Torren giggled. “They’re funny, Uncle John. Not scary at all.”
“Maybe Uncle Ronon can tell a scary story then,” John said.
“How about I tell you about one of the times I was running from the Wraith?” Ronon asked.
John allowed a couple of the kids to crawl into his lap as Ronon began to spin his story. As he listened, he realized why his stories would never be scary to the kids. They were living a horror story.

Date: 2018-02-12 01:09 am (UTC)Bucky shook his head. “No thanks. I’ll visit another day.”
Steve paused, studying his oldest friend. “Do you feel we don’t want you?”
“I know I’m welcome. It has nothing to do with where you’re going or who you’re going with.”
Steve frowned at his words. He was confused why Bucky was refusing to go if he was willing and knew he was welcome. They’d made strides since Bucky had returned from Wakanda and although he didn’t always fight alongside the Avengers, he did more often than not. “Then why?” he questioned.
“It’s Halloween, Steve,” Bucky attempted to explain.
“Which is why we’re going to the hospital,” Steve replied slowly as if confused by Bucky’s statement.
Bucky got up, crossing the room to Steve, and placing a hand on Steve’s shoulder. “I understand,” he told his oldest friend. “But I’d rather not take a chance on doing something I’ll regret because I reacted to something that made me uneasy tonight.”
Steve stared at him for a minute. “I never considered that.”
“I did. And I’ll miss the kids, but I know you and the others will bring lots of pictures. And like I said, I’ll go see them in a few days.” A brief smile flittered across his lips. “So go have fun. FRIDAY and I are going to have a good evening.”
Steve hugged his best friend tightly. “Have a good night. I’ll see you when I get home.”
Bucky nodded and headed back to the couch as Captain America headed out the door.

Date: 2017-10-31 06:57 pm (UTC)With no real time to spare he made his way to the motel office. He looked at the older lady tending the desk. She smiled at him, a sympathetic smile. “What can I help you with dear?” She asked kindly. “My brother.” He sighed. “My brother doesn’t have a costume, I was hoping maybe I could go through the lost and found box?” He asked, hoping she would say yes. “Help yourself.” she said, pointing to the box. “Not much in there, though.” she said, then muttered to herself, ‘shameful, not being here for his boys, no costume for the younger one’. Dean looked through the box seeing she was right, there wasn’t much in there and what was, he wouldn’t let Sammy touch. He drew back his hands, wiping them on his pants. “Thanks anyway.” He called to her as he left. He got back to their room ten minutes before Sam did. He sat on the bed, waiting to deal Sam that gut wrenching blow. He listened as Sam bounded up the steps, at eleven he was still an enthusiastic kid. The door swung open and Sam stepped in, a smile on his face. “Halloween’s tonight.” He simply said.
Dean shook his head, not trusting his voice. He stood walking closer to Sam. “Yeah, about that.” He was interrupted by a knock at the door. He moved past Sam to answer it. A look of surprise on his face when he saw the office lady standing there, holding a bag. “Sorry, it took me so long.” She said and shoved the bag into his hands and left. Dean opened it, seeing an unopened Halloween costume in the bag. “What is it?” Sam asked, curiosity in his voice. Dean closed the door and turned to him, handing him the bag.
RE: SPN, Weechesters, Trick-or-Treating P2
Date: 2017-10-31 06:58 pm (UTC)At seven o’clock Dean looked at his brother. “Okay, Sam let’s go.” He watched as Sam shot up from the couch and ran to the door. “I gotta stop by the office, then we can go.” Dean said, grabbing Sam’s hand. Dean stepped into the office to find the lady still there and dragged Sam in. She took out a Polaroid and proceeded to take several pictures of Sam and Dean. She gave one to Sam, letting him swing it back and forth while the picture appeared. Dean inched closer to the woman. “Thank you.” He said, green eyes tearing at the kindness of a complete stranger. She patted his shoulder and handed him a couple of the pictures and a plastic glow in the dark treat bag for Sam to collect candy in. “You stay safe but have fun.” She said as they left the office. “Go up Hemlock, they have the best candy.” She called out to them before returning to the desk.
Dean watched as Sam raced from one house to the other, collecting candy. He joined in with a group of kids, moving in a pack from street to street as Dean followed closely behind. He heard his brother’s laughter. For once, Sam got to be a kid, not the new kid or the freak kid. But, just a kid out in a costume trick-or-treating like every other kid. Dean shoved his hands into the packets of his jacket and his left hand fell on the photo. He ran his thumb over it the corner of it, knowing he’d have this to remember tonight by.
