Thursday: Song Titles
Jan. 11th, 2018 12:20 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be having fun with pop culture! Today's theme is SONG TITLES! Prompts must be titles of songs. Any songs!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay or Evan Lorne/any male, Ready to Take a Chance Again (Barry Manilow)
+ Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett, Desperado (Eagles)
+ Any, any m/m, Everything is Awesome!!! (Tegan and Sara)
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Any, Thanks Bro (Filter)
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-01-11 04:12 pm (UTC)Fill 1/2: John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, warning for permanent injury
Date: 2018-01-12 02:24 pm (UTC)"What's that?" John snarked back. "Something from your word of the day calendar?"
Rodney sighed, loud and gustily. "You're not going to make me change my mind, so just sit down."
"This is stupid."
"You're stupid. Sit down."
John's heart was pounding so loud he almost couldn't hear Rodney, but he knew it was pointless to argue. When Rodney was focused on a task he was like a dog with a bone, and nothing was going to shake him loose.
"I've got all day," Rodney said.
"Fine."
John reached out, hand knocking into the pilot's seat. He traced the top edge of it down to the arm rest before carefully sitting down. His attempt to play it cool was being hampered by the panting breaths he couldn't seem to stop.
The last time he'd been in the 'jumper, he'd...his head...the pain...
Rodney put his hand on John's knee and squeezed, hard. "Hey. Focus. I need you here, not stuck back seven months ago. Okay?"
His voice was curt and no-nonsense, and cut through the noise in John's head pretty effectively.
"You still with me?"
John nodded.
"Good. Now pay attention." Rodney stopped squeezing John's knee, but left his hand there. "You know the 'jumper has a mental interface, because that’s usually how you fly it."
"McKay, I don't --"
"Zip it, Colonel. As I was saying before you so rudely interrupted me, the mental interface doesn't need to be visual. Zelenka and I have been tweaking the programming and the tests have been mostly positive."
"Mostly? I knew this was a mistake."
John tried to get up but Rodney was stronger that most people gave him credit for. He tried to imagine what expression was on Rodney's face and for a moment was swamped with despair at the knowledge that he'd never see it again, never see anything again but the shifting black and gray shadows and occasional fuzzy blob of white light.
"It might not work for you," Rodney said. "But it won't hurt you. And it won't hurt to try. If it doesn't work, we'll keep hammering away at it until it does. I'm not giving up."
There was a steely certainty to his tone of voice, one that brooked no arguments, and John tried once again to calm himself down. He reminded himself that Rodney was only trying to help, and if Rodney believed it would work it probably would; the man was rarely wrong when it came to the science.
"Good." The underlying relief in that one word was almost palpable. "Now just relax. Feel for the operating system the way you always do. You know what to do."
John didn't have to go searching for it; like all Ancient tech he could feel the hum of purpose on his skin and in the back of his head. All it took was a thought to get the system turned on and, while he couldn't see all the lights in the console flare to life, he could feel it, the change from dormant to awake.
"You're doing great," Rodney said. His thumb was making little circles on John's knee. "Now call up the HUD."

Date: 2018-01-11 04:39 pm (UTC)Fill (Shadowhunters fusion): Sastiel, a little crack-y
Date: 2018-01-11 08:46 pm (UTC)Sam and Castiel wrenched apart, Sam’s eyes wide, Castiel’s expression was unreadable as ever.
Jayce, leaning in the doorway and doing that tough guy thing where he cleaned his nails with a knife, said, “This from the guy who took up with a Downworlder, and a Warlock to boot.”
“A warlock who banged one of your ancestors,” Dean drawled.
Jayce glared at him.
“They didn’t actually bang,” Alec said. “Just had an epic bromance.”
Jayce glared at him too.
“Not helping,” Sam said, a little desperately.
“Still, I see Alec’s point.” Jayce gestured at Sam’s bare torso, which was sheened with sweat and covered with angelic runes. “That’s a little too much heaven for anyone’s comfort.”
Castiel stepped in front of Sam, and all the candles in the chamber went out.
Castiel’s eyes glowed blue, and there was a flash of lightning, and the other three Shadowhunters saw the shadow of his wings on the stone wall -
“Hey now,” Dean cut in. “Chill out, Clarence. We’re not here to snitch on you and Sammy to the rest of the Clave.”
“It’s Sam,” Castiel and Sam said at the same time.
The glow faded from Castiel’s eyes, and one by one the candles relit.
“Mostly we were coming to say we got a lead on that demon Abbadon, and did you want in?” Alec said.
It was Jayce who held out his seraph blade to Castiel. “Could you...blow on it, or something?”
Castiel stared at him, impassive.
“You know, for luck,” Jayce said.
Castiel turned to Sam for his human-to-angel translation services.
“It’s a - thing. That gamblers do. Have a pretty girl blow on their dice before they roll. It - nevermind.” Sam reached out, found his shirt, tugged it on, started shrugging into his black leather armor. “Abbadon? I’m in.”
“She is a Knight of Hell,” Castiel said. He curled his hand around Sam’s wrist, just above where Sam was gripping his own seraph blade, and he leaned in, kissed Sam on the mouth.
The blade glowed.
“On second thought,” Jayce said, “don’t blow on my blade.”
Castiel pulled back from Sam, scowled at him.
“Don’t get me wrong,” Jayce continued. “I’ve got nothing against blue eyes and smoldering intensity. Just -”
Dean, who always looked pained at Sam with anyone in even the remotest romantic or sexual context, turned away. “Places to see, demons to slay. Come on.”
“Do you want any extra runes?” Sam asked, trotting to catch up with him.
Castiel vanished.
Dean made a face. “Not while you’ve got angel cooties.”
Sam rolled his eyes. “I’m still your parabatai.”
“You can do them on the way,” Dean said. “Now hurry it up.”
Alec said, “You know I’m the last person who’d tell on you to the Clave,” he said to Sam as they hurried down the corridor toward the garage. “But I’m going to be the first person to say I told you so when your Dad finds out and his head explodes.”
“Dad can blame Dean,” Sam said. “Dean was the one who taught me how to summon him.”
“That was not what I had in mind when I taught you the ritual,” Dean said.
Sam said, “You’re also the one who told me that virginity is a childhood disease and I needed a good poke to save myself from it.”
Dean looked even more pained.
Jayce, because he was the nice one, patted Dean on the shoulder. “You totally brought this on yourself.”
Dean shoved at him half-heartedly.
And the round goes to me, Jayce thought.
Sam said, “Castiel says his brother Gabriel is single.”
Dean stumbled and nearly fell.
Alec caught him and steadied him, and Jayce thought, Nope, the round goes to Sam.
