Thursday: Hurt/Comfort!
Mar. 15th, 2018 09:57 amHello, everyone. I’m
schweinsty and today's theme is hurt/comfort, because I'm incapable of hosting a week without one. Prompts can be [description of what prompts can be].
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Fullmetal Alchemist (manga/Brotherhood), Roy Mustang + Edward Elric, post-series, One's hurt & the other has to get them to safety
+ Star Trek AOS, James Kirk + Christopher Pike, We need to talk about Tarsus IV
+ Push, Nick Gant + Cassie Holmes, It's his turn to worry she's going to die (please no actual death)
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2018 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-03-15 03:14 pm (UTC)filled!
Date: 2021-02-19 04:32 pm (UTC)Dean lingers in a coma for a week, only getting worse with each passing day. Sam is at his wit's end. He has yelled at Dad, cursed the old man because John hasn’t found a hoodoo priest and laid some mojo on Dean, hasn’t called a soul for help. John only stood by and watched his oldest boy slip away with every ragged breath Dean takes.
John has not always been the best father, long ago he was a ragging drunk, taking his anger out on Dean...
The pain in Dean’s side remains. It is a long way from relieved; however, the ache is temporarily numbed by the comfort of Sam by his side, holding an ice pack to his busted ribs while pressing gentle kisses to his cheek. Sam is still young and innocent enough to believe in fairy tales, thinking that kisses are magic and can take away any amount of sorrow. A part of Dean has believed in magic recently, standing out in the rain with his face to the heavens, hoping the water would wash the pain away.
It's foolish to believe lies. Yet the endearment Sam gives him is kindhearted enough to soothe the sting of busted ribs, but not remove the sorrow. Dean hisses, biting back the aching fire blazing up his side.
Dad was drunk, more and more as the days have become filled with sorrow; hunting has taken over his life, and slowly one drink became two, and so on, until the anger and sadness that had been repressed snapped. Dad had one too many. Tragically, Dean got caught in his sight.
The only blessing in the beating was that Sam was not home at the time, and Dean had the opportunity to come up a lie about getting into a scrap with the local youth bully before his sibling returned. Sam doesn’t know about the abuse and the hunting lifestyle consumed with monsters and Dean is not ready to tell him the truth about either. He hopes for happily ever after, even as his life has become a living nightmare...
Sam brushes off the dark memory, he goes to Dean's hospital room and sit with him. In the rocking chair, he holds dear to the moments he has with Dean, unsure if they may be the last moments he has with his big brother.
Some days he would just hold his big brother's hand and hope Dean could feel his love and friendship and would come back to him. Other days, Sam would softy sing to Dean. Classic rock, a mix of his big brother’s favorite hits, and even though he doesn’t know all the words to the song, he is not a rock God like Dean, he hums and doesn’t give up hope. Dean was his whole world, and Sam would never give up.
Dean is dying, his life-force draining away with every one of Sam’s prayers. Sam sits beside his bedside, rocking back and forth, asking his brother to wake up. Dean takes a ragged breath, while Sam pleads “Please, Dean…please wake up.”
One night while visiting Dean, Sam squeezed his hand, Dean doesn’t wake up, but his heart monitor skips a beat. A soft smile comes to Sam's lips and as he sits in the rocking chair, he promised that no matter how long it takes, every day Sam will stay close to Dean, in hopes that his brother might come back to him.
(End)

...
Alec has always been a people person, even back when the other kids in his placements figured out what he could do with machines and decided to teach him a lesson—technomancy was still rare (IS still rare, actually, if slightly better understood). He kept trying to make friends by showing off all the cool tricks he learned, and finally, Nana took him in and other kids wanted to be friends with him, too.
Nana always got the difficult kids, the different kids, the dangerous kids. (It probably had something to do with the fact that she was also considered difficult, different, and dangerous because her magic leaned more towards autokinesis.)
At the time, for all of the possibilities open to Alec, all of the potential he knew but didn’t understand, he wasn’t sure that he was dangerous. Difficult, sure, because the fosters and the kids didn’t like his ability; different, yeah, because technomancy is one of the rarer magecrafts. But dangerous? Not really.
Of course, the first time one of his tricks got traced back to him, he learned why other people thought him dangerous.
So, anyway. Alec likes people. He wants to be around people. He likes cuddling and touching and kissing and everything else fun one person can do with another person. (Safe, sane, and consensual. CONSENSUAL. More than a few dickheads have had their entire lives utterly destroyed because Alec found out they didn’t care about consent.) Alec likes taking care of people.
When he meets Eliot and Parker, every single part of him lights up.
Because obviously, he’s going to fall completely, irrevocably in love with a damaged air elemental and a damaged shapeshifter.
.
Parker, for all that she’s skittish when approached, will drape herself on anyone she trusts who stands still long enough. Alec loves it. For all that Parker is crazy (and also believes that everyone is as spritely (hah!) and bouncy as her), her interest in Alec’s abilities and that she’ll actually hang around him and listen as he babbles is utterly amazing. Within two days of their meeting, he adores her.
Eliot…
Nate and Parker, on sight, in person, through their tech, don’t register as threats. Alec’s pretty sure Parker is unconsciously damping her presence because as powerful as she is, she barely feels like a breeze. Nate, even though he’s a genius and absolutely terrifying once Alec actually gets to know him, is only an illusionist, one of the weakest magecrafts. (In Nate Ford’s hands? Scary as all hell. But still just illusions.)
On sight, in person, through tech, Alec knows that Eliot (and Sophie, a little later) could be a threat. Elementals and mages, whatever their specialty, are not predators. Most shifters aren’t, either.
From the beginning, Alec knows that Eliot and Sophie are predators, and even though he’s wary around Eliot at the start, tries to avoid activating Eliot’s hunting mode, he never actually fears him the way he does Sophie in the early months.
And, by the way Eliot watches him in bewilderment sometimes, he knows it.
.
Parker swoops in and out, sometimes flying, sometimes teleporting, and Alec knows that letting her come to him is the only way to ever have her. He’s more than fine with that. It isn’t until they’re back down the mountain, their client laid to rest, that Parker curls around him and whispers in his ear, “Eliot’s ours.”
Alec swallows heavily. “That’s the truth, babe,” he murmurs back. “But how are we goin’ to convince him?”
She smiles that scary smile. Alec resigns himself to being caught in another whirlwind.
.
2/2 -- Leverage magic AU -- OT3
Date: 2018-04-04 07:06 pm (UTC)It’s one of Alec’s greatest achievements in life that Eliot doesn’t react to his presence anymore. So when Parker drops them both onto Eliot while Eliot is as relaxed as he ever gets on the couch, Eliot doesn’t immediately try to kill Alec—or try at all, actually. He glares and (carefully! almost gently!) pushes them onto the floor.
Parker bounces back up and glomps him. Alec climbs to his feet, every word of his prepared speech gone.
“You’re ours,” Parker says. Alec watches Eliot’s eyes, because his body has been perfectly trained to hide the truth but his eyes don’t always. “Just like I’m Alec’s and his mine and we’re yours.”
“I don’t understand,” Eliot lies after a moment.
Alec frowns at him. “If you don’t wanna be ours,” he says, “we’ll back off. Everything’ll continue on like it has.”
There’s fear in Eliot’s eyes.
As he slowly moves forward, Alec says, “Words can lie. Even bodies can lie. But our magic, Eliot. Has our magic ever lied to you?”
Parker has practically melted into Eliot (Alec’s wondered sometimes if she’s also part cat, not just air) and she says, “You’re my favorite.” Alec smiles, kneeling beside the armrest of the couch, and he brings his hand to Eliot’s hand, which is still supporting Parker. With barely a nanometer of space between his skin and Eliot’s, Alec says, “You’re my favorite, too.”
And all is still.
Eliot breathes out slowly.
.
Alec’s a people person. Always has been. He likes being around people, likes hugging and cuddling, likes caring for others. And his two people, his elemental and his shifter, they’re amazing and beautiful and so smart in ways he can’t understand, and they’re dangerous and powerful, and they’re his. He’s theirs.
“Hardison,” Eliot grumbles like he’s all annoyed, but he doesn’t even try to escape Alec’s arms as Alec squeezes him tight. Parker wraps her arms around Eliot from the other side and Eliot heaves a huge sigh. But he still doesn’t pull away.

Date: 2021-06-27 08:53 pm (UTC)Hotch visits him his second day off work, when he's in the thick of withdrawal, sweating and shivering and struggling to keep anything down. Spencer isn't expecting him, though in retrospect he should have; they haven't let him be alone since he called Morgan to ask for help yesterday.
He offers to cook, and Spencer's too worn out to refuse. Hotch asks him what he wants--"Anything you like," he says, and Spencer knows he should ask for something healthy and nourishing--he'll need it over the next few days--but all he's hungry for is mac and cheese.
"Sometimes after my mom had an episode," he mumbles, in the quiet after he asks, into the cushion he's got clutched up to his chest, "When she was feeling better. I'd make Kraft, and we'd have blankets on the couch, and she'd read to me until we fell asleep."
It's stupid, when he thinks about it, and his face flushes, but it's out and he can't take it back.
But Hotch doesn't tease him. He just rummages in the cupboards, finds a box, and sets to measuring out some water to boil the pasta in.
"When I got my first job, sometimes, when-- when we wanted to get out of the house, I'd take him to the diner for supper, just the two of us. He always got a burger and fries, and I got a chocolate milkshake. And now when I get stressed, sometimes I crave chocolate malts."
Hotch doesn't read to him, but he stays after supper until Spencer falls into a fitful doze, and when Spencer wakes up an hour later, heaving, he rubs his shoulders and holds his hair back from his face.
