Hello, fellow Comment Ficcers! I will be your hostess for the week, and I am 4bdnsn0wflake. I hope everyone has a fun and inspired time over the next five days.

Those of you who’ve seen me host in the past probably know I like to start off with a word-limit challenge, so today’s theme is 25 Words.

Prompts can be anything, but fills should be 25 words in length. (Multiples of 25 are okay, too.)

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

“Daddy! Where is Billy!?” His heart immediately stinks the sudden realization of the gray stuffed puppy sitting on his mother’s counter.

“He’s visiting Nana sweetie. But what about you cuddle with Toni instead? She could use some loving.” He reaches on the shelf pulling down the yellow bunny and sits her next to his little girl. She lets out a shriek and throws Toni across the room.

“No! Billy! I want Billy!” He hates to see to his little girl like this, far as he could remember that stupid puppy was always attached to her hip. The fact it took until bedtime to notice Billy was missing was the most surprising. He hated to admit it he also hated missing the ballgame playing in the living room. And of course his wife picked this weekend to go on her girlfriend getaway.

“Honey its ok. You’ll be fine.’ Her screams are starting to give him a headache. He sighs and swoops her up. ‘Come on we’re going to see Nana because I heard Billy is missing you just as much.” Her screams turn to a gleeful shriek. He can only hope his mom isn’t too upset at their nine pm arrival.

Molly glares at the solitary magpie. She’d come all the way to the park for a proper lunch break, a proper change of scenery, and there it is, ‘one for sorrow’. She has no shiny jewellery on, just the wrapper of the sneaky Twix she slipped into her lunch-box. She wonders what would happen if she dropped it – not that she would because that would be littering. The bird would likely ignore it.

‘One for sorrow, two for joy’. One woman on a park bench, one bird on the path in front of her. One woman trying not to think about one man’s words. She bites into her first finger of Twix almost defiantly. A dog barks, near enough to make the magpie fly away.

She watches them, as she does every night, rise from their graves, but as always, there’s the one grave that remains steadfastly still. She sighs, turning away, releasing a single tear. It doesn’t matter how many spirits there are in the world or how much she believes if the only one she needs no longer returns to comfort her. She returns indoors, shutting, but not locking, the door behind her and treks slowly back to her bed in the midnight hour. She won’t lock them away, but it doesn’t matter. There is no key, or lock, to her heartache anyway.
