Trini snaps awake, eyes opening to darkness and a weight across her body that pins her in place. It takes a few minutes for her brain to kick in before she recognises the weight as Kim's arm across her waist. Her head rests on Trini's shoulder and her hair tickles at her nose. As her eyes slowly adjust, the details of Kim's room begin to resolve themselves around her and she relaxes into the mattress.

Kim's room is a place she feels safe, even if it's still a mostly unfamiliar one.

In sleep they've twined themselves together. Trini can't move without waking her, but... for once she doesn't want to move, doesn't want to run. She's content here, happy even, and when she turns her head to press a kiss to Kim's temple, Kim murmurs in her sleep and curls closer.

This thing that's between them is starting to feel like it might actually last. Trini's never had that before. It's kind of terrifying and exciting at the same time. They're taking things slow but it feels right to her, like she's exactly who she's supposed to be, and Kim's who she's supposed to be with.

Past experience made her wary of other people's reactions, but the rest of the Rangers have been nothing but supportive and Kim's parents have come around. Her own family is still a work in progress, but even that is getting better.

Slowly, but it's something.

Kim start to shift in her sleep and it's not long before her eyes blink open. Trini sees the same flicker of confusion she felt when she woke up — this is new to them, it's an adjustment — and then it clears and Kim is smiling at her, soft and warm.

Trini can't help but kiss her.

"Hey, you," she says quietly, brushing a loose strand of hair away from Kim's eyes. "It's really early. It's dark out."

"Then why are you awake?" Kim murmurs, still half-asleep, nuzzling her nose into Trini's neck.

"I don't know," Trini says. "Strange surroundings, maybe? It's nothing to worry about."

Kim hums her agreement.

"I like waking up with you," Kim says, after a moment, breath ghosting teasingly across Trini's skin. "It's nice."

Trini smiles. "I like waking up with you too," she says. "We'll have to do it more often."

"All the time," Kim agrees, yawning as her eyes flutter closed again, and Trini's overwhelmed with just how much she feels for her.

"All the time," she repeats in a whisper, hoping that it's a promise, and watches Kim as she drifts back to sleep.
