Hello, everyone. I’m little_huntress and today's theme is SONGS. You can use a song, lyrics, a character being a singer as your prompt, or really, your prompts can be anything that inspires you as long as they have something to do music. Have fun prompting!

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Not for the first time in his life, Nick is sure he's going to die.

And, not that he's ever thought that there was a particularly good way to go, this would not be anywhere near his list of top ten choices. Flat on his back, his body aching from punches he'd taken, his ears ringing with what he's fairly sure is a concussion or at least a level ten headache, his sidearm in his oppenent's shaking hands, levelled somewhere around Nick's chest?

Yeah, this sucks.

He's gulping for breath, trying to find the words to say to convince the guy not to fire, the magic words that will save his life. None come, his brain frozen, his lungs equally so and all he can do is stare.

Then there's a gunshot.

A gunshot, but no pain and the other guy gets a shocked look on his face as he freezes in place. The gun falls from his hand and then he crumples at the knees, like a puppet whose strings have just been cut. Behind him, her gun extended and fury in her face, stands Ellie and when she sees Nick, she gasps, is beside him in seconds.

"Nick!" Then, over her shoulder, she shouts, "In here!" From far beyond, Nick can hear footsteps, voices, but he's more concerned with Ellie's hands on his face, Ellie's breath on his cheek as she leans in close. Her eyes roam over his body, looking for injuries and he knows she's going to find plenty. "I've got you," she tells him, her voice quiet, firm. "You're going to be ok."

He knows he is because she's here and when she's around, he's always ok. Besides, she's already had one man basically die in her arms, he'll be damned if he puts her through that again. So he nods, brings a shaking hand to her cheek. "Ellie," he rasps and he thinks she'll forgive him for breaking her ridiculously strict rules about bringing their relationship to work. "You have never looked more beautiful."

She makes a liar of him in the next second, because the smile that breaks across her face is like sunshine emerging from behind a cloud. Only for a second though, then she schools her face into agent mode. "Don't think your sweet talk is going to make up for scaring me like that." But he's close enough to see the twitch of her lips, the glint in her eyes and he knows that they're going to be ok, in more ways than one.

The first thing Tilda acquired for her Rabbits was a record player, just like the one The Widow had. Finding music for it was harder, but Tilda stole and bartered and borrowed, and finally she had it, an energy source for the record player, and a record.

Jenny, the song was called.

“That’s a pretty name,” Odessa said. She and some of the other Rabbits were huddled around the record player in the old tram car they used as their home base on the edge of former Baroness’s refugee, bobbing their heads to the music.

Tilda kept it turned down low, but she couldn’t help smiling. She remembered the first time they’d turned on music in the Baroness’s manor, smiled and danced and jumped around with each other.

“Do you want it to be your new name?” Tilda asked. “It could be. You’re not a doll anymore, and we’re not clippers or butterflies anymore. We could all pick new names if we wanted.”

“You’re the Iron Rabbit,” Odessa said.

“I’m still Tilda. I like my name.”

Odessa tilted her head, listening to the song, shimmying her shoulders, listening to the words. “I like my name, too.” She slid her hand across the floor, covered Tilda’s with it.

Some of the other girls had stood up, were dancing tentatively.

“But if you wanted to be my Jenny,” Odessa whispered, “I’d let borrow my lipstick and use my shirt as a pillow case.”

Tilda smiled, closed her eyes, and let Odessa kiss her.

In the days and weeks that followed, Tilda led her Rabbits out on raids and missions, recovering much-needed supplies from the two greedy Barons who’d torn the world asunder. In between raids and missions, they found more music, laughed and sang and danced.
And sometimes Odessa would steal Tilda’s comb, and Tilda would steal one of Odessa’s bracelets, and Odessa would borrow Tilda’s lipstick, and Tilda would wear one of Odessa’s shirts, and at the end of the day, when it was just them, they’d give it all back, tangle in each other’s arms, and kiss each other to sleep.
