Hello, everyone. I'untldeathtakeme, your now-deflowered host for this week. The great fills and prompts have made it a lovely first time, thank you!

I'd like to finish out with what I'm calling Supporting Cast. Basically, prompts should involve the "Non-major" characters from a series/show/book. I'm also ruling that you may involve a "major" character PROVIDED a minor or less popular character is involved. For example, I'd rule out Sherlock and John from BBC Sherlock, but if it were Sherlock and Lestrade, that's okay. Mods, please let me know if this is too confusing.
Beyond that stipulation, I leave judgement up to you guys; I think we all know our fandoms.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.

It wasn’t that she missed her child; she would have been an awful mother, and had never doubted the rightness of her actions. No doubt Randall was right in thinking had she kept the child she would have coped; she would have, she always did, but that wasn’t the problem. Perhaps she longed to be with Randall again, and she knew, if she played her cards right, he would agree. But she also knew that while a part of her wanted to have a companion, the other part, the dominant part, would not be prepared to make the necessary adjustments.

“But, I mean.” Greg ground to a halt, unable to think of the right words when faced with John Watson swiftly removing all his clothes.

“Stop trying to say things, and just get undressed. Assuming that’s what you want, and I rather thought you did.”

“I do, but it’s.”

“Detective Inspector Lestrade, please, just stop talking and strip!”

Trixie Belden Mysteries, Bobby Belden, being the last Belden kid at home with Moms and Dad

When he was younger, it was a Belden family joke that little Bobby could never keep a “see-crud”. No matter how hard he tried, things “just slipped out”. He was guileless--friendly and open, with no censor between his thoughts and his lips. As he got older, he protested that he wasn’t like that any more…but soon saw that the only way to prove that he could keep secrets was not to tell them. A few more years, and he began to see the value of secrecy. Things like the amount of money he’d saved up--he has plans for it which don’t include his dad arm-twisting him to stick it in the bank and watch it like a hawk.

Watching his brothers and sister leave home one by one has sparked his desire to get away from Crabapple Farms, where nothing ever changes except the color of the curtains in the kitchen. Bobby’s impatient to see the world, to have adventures the way the older kids all had. Being the ‘baby’ of the family, Moms is hanging onto him like he’s still six years old--talk about ‘smother love’!--and the way Pops goes on about still having him here to help with chores scares him. He doesn’t want to be stuck here for the rest of his life!

At the moment, Bobby’s fifteen and his savings from years of thrift are a little shy of $1200. By the time he graduates at eighteen, he anticipates it’ll be over $2000. Maybe more, if he gets an after-school and/or summer job. Like working at Mr. Tomlin’s riding academy…he wouldn’t spend his savings to ride there--the Manor House is closer, and free--but nobody’s going to pay him for working next door!

Bobby plays things close to the vest--he makes a show of going to the movies--though not as often as he tells his folks. He talks convincingly about how broke he is after going out with his pals for burgers, and sometimes he can parlay that into extra chores and more money, and all the while, he accrues funds on the DL. He spends money on tools, when he spends it, because they’re a useful investment in his future.

He has a strategy--he takes auto shop classes so he can repair the vehicle he plans to get some day; his dad isn’t thrilled by the idea--he’d prefer his son go in for something more white-collar. With his reputation for guilelessness, Bobby is easily able to convince Pops that it’s just a hobby.

With Brian away in med school and Mart and Trixie out in California, there’s no one to catch him in his deception except his parents, and as long is he goes through the motions and doesn’t call their attention to the numbers, the senior Beldens don’t notice what’s going on under their roof. ‘Little Bobby’ is very good at keeping see-cruds.

“Nautilus Dive Shop, how can I help you?”

“Uncle Steve?”

“Grace--what’s wrong?” Danny’s girl is supposed to be at art school on the mainland--what’s urgent enough for her to be calling here instead of Surfside Tattoos?. Oh god--is she calling from a hospital or jail?

“Please, can you do me a huge, huge favor?”

“I’ll run and get your dad, I don’t know why he’s not answering--”

“No!” Her voice rises in panic. “Don’t tell my dad!”

Be calm, he tells himself. If you’re calm, she’ll be calm. “Okay, honey--whatever you say. What’s wrong? Tell me, we’ll work it out.” Bail money, how much can I get my hands on?

“Can you come pick me up?”

“Pick you up where? In Savannah?!”

“At the airport.” Three little words filled with sadness and defeat, it sounds like.

It’s barely February; she’s not scheduled to come back for months, which sounds like she’s flunked out. Danny’s going to be unhappy about that, although he’ll undoubtedly be overjoyed to see Grace again.

“Sure, no problem--where are you?” Good thing Kono’s in, she can cover for him.

All the way to the airport, Steve psychs himself up to Be There for her. Grace is a terrific kid; he’d like her even if he wasn’t shacked up with her old man. School, yeah, it’s important, but Grace is young, and just because that school wasn’t a goot fit for her doesn’t mean she won’t succeed somewhere else, after she’s had a chance to regroup.

“Hey sweetie, it’s good to see you.” He hugs her-- she needs a hug--most kids put on weight when they go away to school--Grace is thinner and there are smudges of fatigue around her eyes. She leans against him like standing is an effort.

From the East Coast to Hawaii--she’s been traveling for at least a day, and if she’s worried about breaking bad news to her dad, she likely hasn’t slept at all. Poor kid!

He hands her into the car, deals with her luggage, and gets on the road. “So look,” he says a couple miles later, when she’s shown no inclination to be her usual chatty self. “I haven’t said anything to Danny, it’s not my place, but I want you to know, I fully support you.”

“You do?!” She’s giving him a funny look, disbelief and something else.

“Sure,” he responds, determined to see this through. “Anybody can flunk out of school. It happens.”

“Um, Uncle Steve? I didn’t flunk out.” Good thing they’re at a traffic light, so he can eye her for a long moment until she sighs and admits, “They threw me out.”

“What for?”

Grace makes a noise that’s somewhere between a tea kettle at full boil and a scalded cat. “It was so stupid!” she declares. “They busted me for pushing ink in my dorm room.”

“Wait, what?” A horn vlares behind them. Steve belatedly moves forward, pulls into the first parking lot he sees, stops, and stares at her.

“I have my own rig. I got it mail-order. I was working out of my room, doing smalls on other kids in the dorm, nothing major--it’s not like I went and sleeved anybody! Then this one kid went home a couple weeks ago, his ‘rents saw his ink and freaked, and the little dweeb gave me up!”

“They kicked you out for that?”

“They wanted me to get rid of my rig and promise I’d never do it again!” She sounds insulted, but knows she’s in trouble, because then she says. “OMG, Danno’s gonna kill me!”

“ I don’t think so. I know he really misses you, he’s going to be glad to see you but mad? You have talent, he knows that. Yeah, he’ll be disappointed, because he liked the idea of you having a better education than he did, but he loves you, never forget that.”

“I know. I hate disappointing him.” Grace sighs, eyes downcast--for about five seconds, then she perks back up. “I’ve got pictures of the stuff I added to my portfolio--I did this really wicked peacock--” That’s more like the girl he knows.

Steve chuckles. “You’re your father’s daughter, Gracie--sometimes, I feel like you’re mine, too. I’m really glad you reached out to me. I’ll help you talk to Danny. Don’t worry, we’ll get through this.”

“You’re the greatest, Uncle Steve.” Her smile is heartfelt. Nothing shows her relief more than her quiet surrender--she’s asleep by the time they get home.

Sometimes Tommy hated his brother. It was petty, sure, but his brother had a great family, an even better boyfriend, and all the other Young Avengers for friends. Tommy had those too -- minus the boyfriend -- but it was different. Billy's family wasn't really Tommy's family after all, and he was pretty sure the rest of the Young Avengers liked his twin better too.

No matter what, he was always on the edges. Always a third wheel.

He never felt more that way than when Billy got it into his head that he and Tommy needed to spend some quality time together. With Teddy along, of course, because he and Billy were practically attached at the hip. Couldn’t get one without the other.

It wasn’t like Tommy was jealous of his brother. Really, he wasn’t. He didn’t need that mushy, lovey dovey stuff. He just… kind of wished he didn’t feel like such an outsider with, ostensibly, his own family and friends.

Which was why, no matter how much Billy begged him to stay, Tommy needed to take some time away. Maybe make some friends of his own. Superhero without the others for awhile, really prove himself. He was tired of being the odd one out all the time. This was going to be his time to shine.
