Tuesday: Jewelry
Jul. 3rd, 2018 08:55 amHello, everyone! I’m
reeby10 and continuing with fashion week, today's theme is jewelry. Prompts can be anything about jewelry, from earrings to the crown jewels and more.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Ocean's 8, Debbie Ocean/Lou, stealing jewelry for each other
+ John Wick, John Wick, even after Helen died he kept his wedding ring on
+ MCU, Loki/Thor, sometimes Loki likes to wear nothing but gold chain body jewelry
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2018 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-07-03 01:55 pm (UTC)Fill! (just watched this film today, so bear with me)
Date: 2018-07-05 01:52 am (UTC)It started small - a pair of earrings left on Lou's bedside table, a simple pendant laid out on Debbie's pillow. Soon, it was tennis bracelets studded with diamonds and sapphires adorning Lou's delicate wrists, necklaces bearing teardrop-shaped rubies to bring out the fire in Debbie's eyes.
There were no questions, only quiet glances and hidden smiles. Both of them knew that eventually there would be no more jewelry in the city left to steal if they kept going on like this.
Until one night, when Lou came into the drafty hideout they shared to find a small velvet box. It sat on the chair she normally fell into at the end of a long day spent conning. She picked it up, opened it with hands she swore were not trembling, and found something much less ostentatious than she expected.
It was silver, studded with small diamonds that gathered to a small flower in the center. Lou took it out of the box and slipped it on. It fit perfectly, of course. Why wouldn't it?
"What do you get for the girl who has everything?"
Lou turned around to find Debbie standing behind her, brown eyes darting to Lou's face and then back down to the floor, a shy smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
"It's beautiful." Lou tried to keep her features calm, but her hands fluttered about as she scrambled for something more to say.
"I'm not good at this, Lou. But I think if this game of ours has proved anything -"
"Stop talking, Deb."
Lou closed the distance between them and kissed the only woman who had ever been worth the risk of getting caught.

Date: 2018-07-06 11:47 pm (UTC)The ring bore the face of a barn owl, one crystal eye blue and the other brown.
Sarah reached out with one shaking finger and touched it, made sure it was real. It seemed solid enough. She scooped it up in her hand and took a closer look. She turned it this way and that, looking for an inscription or some other message, but there was nothing. Although she supposed the ring was message enough.
Jareth.
Heart suddenly pounding in her chest, Sarah slipped out of bed, ring clutched in her hand, and padded down the hall to look in on Toby. Her father and stepmother were still sleeping. Sarah moved past the bed, barely sparing it a glance, and leaned over the crib. Toby was still sleeping as well; no wonder, given the long night he’d had. She cupped his head gently and readjusted his blanket so it was covering him properly.
Sarah’s trip through the labyrinth had showed her how much she loved her little brother, former resentment all but gone. In fact, she’d had her heart opened to a lot of different things, like friends who were less than human. Like a dark king who’d demanded so very much from her. She’d learned how strong she could be.
Sarah retreated to her room and sat on the bed. She looked again at the ring. She wanted to put it on – there was no question in her mind that it would fit perfectly – but she wasn’t sure what she’d be agreeing to if she did.
She closed her eyes, remembering the feel of Jareth’s hands on her as they danced. It had been a distraction, a way to keep her from continuing her quest, bur for that brief moment she’d felt…it had been…
Just fear me. Love me. Do as I ask, and I shall be your slave.
Without even thinking about it, Sarah slipped the ring on her finger. She waited for something to happen. Looked to her window thinking maybe she’d see the figure of an owl there, beating his wings on the glass.
Nothing happened.
Down the hall Toby started to cry and Sarah could hear her parents getting up. Soon there’d be breakfast and another average day would begin. No-one would know about the labyrinth or Hoggle or the Goblin King. No-one would know that magic was real.
“Sarah? Are you up?”
She contemplated going back to her regular, boring, everyday life. She thought about another day of high school. She thought about her mother missing another one of her plays because she was on tour. She thought about more nights babysitting because she had no friends, no plans. No adventures.
“Sarah?”
Sarah looked at the ring on her finger. “I wish the goblins would come and take me away,” she whispered. “Right now.”
When she heard the screeching call of the owl, Sarah grinned in anticipation.

Date: 2018-07-03 02:59 pm (UTC)Fill: Stephen/Tony, gifts
Date: 2018-07-03 10:43 pm (UTC)Stephen was growing increasingly frustrated as his quest for the perfect gift continued to come up fruitless. What do you get the man who has everything? There certainly wasn't any technological toy or tool for the job, as Tony certainly had that already, and Stephen wasn't confident enough in his techno-babble to get him something "super cool". And the man already had the largest private collection of unique elements on Earth (how he got T'Challa to give him such a giant chunk of vibranium was beyond anyone's wild guess).
Stephen had searched the globe for a creative gift, something unique; using portals to travel to the most remote of places and seek out the most talented of artists. He found many a wonderful thing, but no magically woven glass or custom artisanal cheese felt right; and certainly nothing in these ridiculous magazines would do; the gift needed to be perfect.
Stephen let out a loud sigh and pushed his palms into his eyes. Maybe he could just do a really weird sex act for Tony....or a dance...or both. The image of himself tying a bow around his dick just felt too ridiculous though.
"Hey doc," Natasha said walking into the room, glancing at the table strewn with magazines. She picked up a copy of The Gentleman's Jeweller, flipped a few pages, and raised a dramatic eyebrow.
"Not going to ask," she said quietly, putting the magazine back down.
"I'm trying to find an anniversary present for Tony," Stephen said, an edge of defeat in his voice.
"Badly, too," Natasha laughed, "Tony likes flashy crap, but no..."
"I'm getting desperate. Peter suggested the magazines,"
"You took romance advice from a 15 year old?" she snorted back sarcastically, "wow. I thought you were a genius,"
Stephen rolled his eyes, "I said I was desperate,"
Natasha sighed, her face getting serious. "I've known Tony a long time, what he appreciates most from those he loves is the gift of time, of doing something together. So do something with him,"
"Like what, though? He's done everything...and you've seen his sex toy collection...he's literally done everything,"
"That is certainly true," Natasha grinned, meeting his eyes, remembering. "Well, Doctor you do happen to control time ... so why don't you do something with that. Take him somewhere in history,"
Stephen's face fell in offence, "that would be against my ethics. The Time Stone is not a...is not a toy for me to use to impress a boy,"
"He's not just some random hookup, he's your husband, Stephen," she replied, "besides, a little rule breaking never hurt. Don't change the time-space continuum or anything and who cares."
"And that is why you are the spy and I am not,"
"And why I have more fun, it would seem,"
"It would be...unethical," he said, a bit slower, his resolve weakening ever so slightly as the idea took root in his mind, thinking of all the places he could take Tony to; Paris at the turn of the century, ancient Prussia, the construction of the pyramids....
"It would be awesome. But the decision is yours," she said, leaving the room.
It would certainly be a one-of-a-kind gift, he thought to himself......and maybe, if he used a non-participant spell and they just observed, then it would be okay......

Date: 2018-07-03 09:39 pm (UTC)Steve spied the small plastic bag on the kitchen counter and immediately became suspicious.
"You'll find out once Sarah wakes up from her afternoon nap." Bucky planted a kiss on Steve's cheek and gave him a huge grin.
"It better not be earrings. You know how I feel about getting her ears pierced."
"No, of course not. I'm not getting Sarah's ears pierced when she's a toddler. I never really understood that as a thing people do."
"Me either. And if it were up to me, she wouldn't be getting her ears pierced ever."
"Aww, c'mon Stevie. Don't tell me you're already planning on crushing the dreams of our teenage daughter."
Steve couldn't help but smile, even though the thought of Sarah being a teenager absolutely terrified him. He wrapped his arms around Bucky's waist and pulled him close.
"Let's not put the cart before the horse, shall we?"
The two of them paused as they heard static-laced murmurs coming from the baby monitor.
"Present time!" Bucky grinned and snatched the Claire's bag off of the counter, taking Steve's hand and pulling him in the direction of Sarah's bedroom. She was standing up in her crib when they walked in.
"Go get her, and sit in the rocking chair." Bucky commanded. Steve did as he was told and picked Sarah up. He wandered over to the rocking chair and sank down into it gently.
The light and love in Bucky's eyes made Steve's chest tighten for a moment.
"Look what Daddy got you, baby girl! Your very own..." Bucky took a moment fishing the gift out of the bag. He pulled out a small, shiny crown.
"Tiara!"
Sarah giggled and clapped her hands.
Bucky bent down and gently placed the tiara on Sarah's head, carefully arranging her hair so the tiny crown would stay in place.
"There. Perfect for my princess."
Steve chuckled. "Guess that makes us kings?"
"You were always a king, Stevie." Bucky smiled and leaned in to kiss Steve softly.
Sarah, of course, took the opportunity to pull the tiara out of her hair and drop it on the floor with a laugh.

Date: 2018-07-04 12:37 am (UTC)Team Justice was having brunch together again - Diana didn’t realise it but she and Victor were trying to mother Barry; Victor knew it and was owning it with his #1 Mom coffee mug - and Diana said,
“I didn’t think that happened among mortals anymore.”
“What?” Lois asked, because Team Justice brunches were family-friendly.
Clark looked politely confused, as he often did about obscure corners of human culture - like K-pop even though it was a multi-billion dollar industry annually.
“Sentinels and Guides,” Diana said.
Lois frowned. “I’ve never heard of them.”
“It’s very rare,” Bruce said, because in the wave of new superhumans he’d started looking for old ones in case they were the actual source of what was going on. “Sentinels have super-enhanced senses and Guides help them stabilize if they get lost in one sense too much. The bonds between Sentinels and Guides are thought to be the basis of a lot of myths about soulmates.”
“That’s very romantic.” Lois smiled. Then she looked at Diana. “Why do you mention it?”
Diana nodded at Barry. “Because he wears the symbol of one of the bonded.”
Bruce looked at Barry, who froze like a deer on headlights. For one second Bruce thought Barry was going to speed away from the table, but then Barry patted his seashell pendant nervously.
“Oh. This. Yeah. I’m bonded.”
Diana smiled at him. “That’s wonderful. Who’s your sentinel?”
Bruce wanted to know too, because a Sentinel would be a great addition to the team. Jim Ellison and Blair Sandburg had politely but firmly turned him down, citing retirement.
Arthur said, “I’m his Guide.”
Victor choked on a mouthful of coffee. “Wait. What?”
“Barry's the Sentinel,” Arthur said. He was weaving a matching seashell pendant, but the king of the oceans wearing a seashell on a leather cord was unremarkable.
“Since when?” Victor asked.
Clark smiled and said, “Congratulations.”
Barry cleared his throat. “From when we, you know, shook hands.”
“Since we banged, he means,” Arthur said.
Lois choked on her water.
Barry said, “I thought we weren't supposed to talk about it at the table.”
Arthur shrugged. “Diana knows how the old rituals are done.”
Not for first time, Bruce remembered how young Barry was. “Does your father know?”

Date: 2018-07-04 03:09 am (UTC)“Just - a piece of jewelry would make this shirt less like a shirt and more like a blouse.” She’d knotted it under her breasts and her bare, toned belly was visible.
Ronon knew Major Toriel would appreciate the view.
Amelia was standing in the hallway outside of her quarters with some of the other women - Jennifer, Laura, Katie, Heightmeyer.
“Apart from my watch and this one necklace, I’ve got nothing,” Laura said apologetically.
“I have a ring,” Katie offered.
Amelia sighed. “There’s no way any of your rings would fit me.” She was a good head taller than Katie and much bulkier, stronger.
Ronon said, “Do you have any string?”
Amelia turned to him, startled.
“String?” Amelia echoed.
Ronon nodded.
“I have some,” Katie said. “For tying plants.” She disappeared into her quarters, then reappeared with a bundle of string. She handed it to Ronon.
He turned it over in his hands. It wasn’t a bit rough, but it was the right size.
“Will that work?” Katie asked.
Ronon nodded. “Yeah. Thanks.” He unwound a length, fished a knife out of his hair, which startled the women, cut a length. Then he set about knotting it.
“What are you doing?” Laura asked.
Heightmeyer said, “It looks kind of like something my grandmother did. Macrame, I think it was called? To make lace.”
Ronon’s grandmother had taught him the art. It was useful, because the technique could be used to make fishing nets in an emergency. It was also repetitive and soothing. His grandmother had often sat him down and had him make small motifs over and over again when he was angry, so he would focus on something else and calm down - and have something to show for it after.
It was easy, to make a small five-petaled flower.
He held it out to Amelia. “I can make it bigger, if you want. You could put a bead on it or something, to make it shiny.”
“I think Miko has some art glass beads,” Katie said.
Amelia accepted the little flower tentatively. “Wow, that - it’s beautiful. Thank you. I like it just how it is.”
Ronon showed her how to tie the trailing ends of the string so the flower hung at her throat like a pendant.
Laura cleared her throat. “Hey, if I had a date in a week’s time, could you make me something? Maybe a bit bigger and more ornate. I could get you some of Miko’s beads.”
Ronon hefted the ball of string Katie had given him. “Yeah, probably. I’d need more string, though.”
Laura smiled. “Let me take care of that.”
It was a rather bewildered Major Lorne who came to Ronon’s quarters the next day, laden with a box full of many balls of colored string and a jar full of beads. “Hey, Ronon. Lieutenant Cadman said you wanted these.”
Ronon nodded, accepted the box, set it down and started poking through it.
“Anything in particular you’re using all this for?” Lorne asked. “So I can ask for more with the next Daedalus delivery.”
“More string and beads,” he said. “More varieties.”
Lorne nodded. “Okay.” He looked a little dubious, but he smiled at Ronon and waved goodbye, departed quickly.
Amelia reported to Ronon that the necklace worked wonders, that it had given her outfit that little extra something, and she was very grateful to him. And so the floodgates opened. After Laura wore the large beaded flower Ronon made for her, other women came to him, asking for jewelry for their necks, their wrists, their hair.
Ronon worked on the pieces in the evenings, when he was done working with his team. Many of the women brought him specific colors of string and beads that they wanted, or he let them choose from his box of supplies. Lorne brought him more string and beads. And in exchange the women did many things for him - either also increased his supply of string and beads, or cooked him food or fixed him up a laptop of his own.
“You make jewelry,” Lorne said one day, when he came to Ronon’s quarters with another delivery of string and beads. “I’ve noticed what the women are wearing, when they’re off-duty.”
Ronon shrugged.

Date: 2018-07-03 08:25 pm (UTC)The best thing about the guys on team Pegasus was that pretty much nothing fazed them. They went off-world and did their song and dance, and after they won - they always won - they would smile graciously and interact with the natives. Sometimes the natives would ply them with strange gifts, anything from animal furs to carved bits of wood to food and drink. And then one day a girl offered one of them, Corporal Lee with his platinum-blond hair and uncanny blue contact lenses - a crown of flowers.
Toriel held his breath, waiting for the puzzlement or offense taken, but Lee just smiled at the girl and put the crown on. Then he smiled and posed, and the girl looked pleased.
Two seconds too late, Dr. Bruno, the linguist and anthropologist, burst onto the scene.
“Lee, no! That means you have to marry her!” And then she had to stop catch her breath, and repeat herself in Korean.
The smile on Lee’s face dimmed, and he responded in rapid-fire Korean, his voice rising in alarm. The entire crisis was averted when Major Lorne arrived and explained to the heartbroken alien girl that Corporal Lee was an unsuitable husband because he was unable to father children.
The girl, weeping, accepted the return of the flower crown and fled. Dr. Bruno translated the proceedings for Lee, who seemed unbothered by the lie, and Toriek wondered if it wasn’t a lie after all, or if maybe Dr. Bruno had lied to him.
It was Lieutenant Crown who discovered a whole plethora of pictures of Lee from his civilian days, wearing various flower crowns. He wore them unabashedly, and Toriel secretly thought he looked beautiful - and lonely.

"I'm not nervous about proposing!"
Shuri gave him a look.
"I don't know why I even asked you to come with me," T'Challa grumbled.
"Because my advice is impeccable. And because you don't have many friends."
"I have many friends."
She laughed. "Relax, I was kidding. But do you even know what kind of ring you are looking for?"
"Something that reflects who she is. Powerful, brilliant, of the highest integrity."
"That's not something a piece of metal can do, brother," she said, laughing.
"It should be something that when you look at it, you know - no one has had a ring like this. It is... one of a kind."
"Hmmm. Wait, I wonder if I have something like that lying around." She started digging in her backpack.
"That is not funny, Shuri," he said, then stopped as she pulled out a small box.
He opened it. In it was a vibranium ring, elegant but modern in design, etched with symbols from great Wakandan texts, decorated with brilliant jewels.
"You did this for me?" T'Challa said, touched.
"I did this for Nakia. And also for myself, so I don't have to accompany you to any more jewelry stores."
"She will love it," T'Challa said, hugging Shuri.
"I know she will. The diamonds are capable of cutting through anything, there's a compartment for three kinds of supercompressed non-lethal weapons, and on the inside, there's access to a nanocomputer that can hack into anything."
T'Challa grinned. "Fit for a queen, indeed."

“You're one of us now,” she tells the stableboy solemnly. “Thank you for your help.”
