Thursday: Shopping
Jul. 5th, 2018 08:33 amHello again, everyone! I’m
reeby10 and today's very fashionable theme is shopping. Prompts can be anything about doing any kind of shopping.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Hellboy (movies), any, shopping at the Troll Market
+ MCU, Sam Wilson/Bucky Barnes, grocery shopping
+ any, any m/m or f/f, shopping for their first house/apartment together
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2018 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-07-05 09:32 pm (UTC)Bucky sat down on the couch opposite him. “This entire week?”
Sam nodded. “Yeah. Most efficient way to grocery shop is to make a weekly menu and buy supplies for it. That way we avoid buying things we won’t use but we’re prepared for the week. Also if we eat in more we eat healthier and save money.”
“I don’t know how you people eat most of the stuff you eat anyway. Not that food at Hydra was great, but - before. Food was fresh. Now it’s - not.”
Sam glanced up at him. “Cap always says the same thing. But hey, we can buy fresher produce instead of stuff in cans. So, dinner?”
They bantered back and forth, picking meal options, bargaining for sides and salads and desserts - Sam hated green beans; Bucky hated broccoli - and finally managed to make a menu (Sam insisted that they couldn’t have chicken two nights in a row).
“All right,” Sam said. “Let me make our shopping list. Let’s make sure we have everything we need for dinners, and then if there’s anything you want on top of that - breakfast foods, lunch items, snacks, non-food supplies - we can add that in.”
Bucky nodded. He knew Steve had learned to do a lot of this kind of homemaking and planning when he lived on his own, after his mother had died, but Bucky had lived with his parents and then joined the Army and then there was Hydra and going on the run till he got his memory back and -
And now the Avengers. And Sam. A home and domesticity.
Sam typed at his laptop.
“What are you doing?” Bucky asked.
“Making up our shopping list. I can send it to your phone, along with the menu, so we both know what’s for dinner every night.”
The way people kept their brains on their phones was the stuff of science fiction. Bucky remembered going to the Stark Expo every year and seeing flying cars and now - now he could cruise around in quinjets for missions.
“Okay, when do we go shopping?” Bucky asked.
Sam said, “I am making our list now. After we’re done with mission briefings tomorrow, we can swing by the grocery store and pick everything up.”
Bucky sat up straighter. “Pick everything up?”
“Yeah. I order my groceries online.”
Bucky frowned. “But we’ve been to the grocery store together before.”
“Yeah, but - this is kind of a quiet stretch. Banker’s hours while we sort things out. So we’re home on the regular and don’t have to worry about food going bad in the fridge. Going shopping every night is exhausting.”
“Oh.” Bucky considered. “I guess - that’s how we always did it. Shopping every day. We didn’t have money for a big fridge when I was a kid, and certainly not for a freezer, so -”
Sam paused. “Is that how you’d prefer it? Shopping in the evenings before dinner?”
“Well - my mom was the one who did the shopping. Dad and I -”
“I’ll just order these groceries, shall I?”
Bucky nodded. “Yeah. Is it expensive? To order groceries for pickup?”
“There’s like a five-dollar fee, but it’d take about an hour to shop for all this stuff ourselves. How much is an hour of your time worth?” Sam asked. He closed his laptop and set it aside.
Bucky grinned and crawled across the couch toward him, settled on top of him, kissed him. “It’s worth a whole lot, especially when I get to spend it with you.”
Sam kissed him back. “A whole hour? You think?”
“Two words: super serum.”
Sam nodded. “Point.” He wound his arms around Bucky’s neck and kissed him some more. The next hour would be very precious indeed.

Date: 2018-07-05 01:34 pm (UTC)Fill: Stargate Multiverse, Cam Mitchell/Evan Lorne
Date: 2018-07-05 09:03 pm (UTC)Evan looked at him. “Why? You don’t have a pet.”
“We won’t be in forever,” Cam said. “We can settle down and have a pet eventually.”
The real estate agent, Gina, was waiting patiently with the rental agreement on the kitchen counter. She had a pen to hand so both of them could sign.
Evan raised his eyebrows. “I don’t know about you, but I plan on dying at my desk at the Pentagon with at least three stars to my name. There better be cannons at my funeral.”
Cam eyed him for a moment. Even though he and Evan had been together on and off since flight school and then on full-time since Cam was read into the Stargate program, he was still occasionally caught off-guard by Evan’s sarcasm.
Evan said, “Is there a weight limit? For dogs.”
“Twenty pounds,” Gina said.
Cam made a face.
“We could get a cat,” Evan said.
“Obviously McKay has warped your sense of pet ownership,” Cam said. “I’m sure there are plenty of agreeable dogs twenty pounds or less.”
“It’s not like we’d keep a little dog in a purse,” Evan said.
Cam reached out, accepted the pen from Gina. “All right. Let’s do this. Our first apartment together.”
Gina smiled at them. “That’s a pretty big step. How long have you been together?”
“Steady? Six years now,” Cam said. “But we’ve known each other for -”
“Nineteen years,” Evan said.
“I was getting there.”
Evan smiled sweetly. “Been hanging around Rodney and Sheppard too much.”
“Six years is a good long time to get to know someone,” Gina said.
“We’d have gotten a place much sooner, except until recently we’d have lost our jobs if people knew we were together at work, so.” Evan accepted the pen from Cam, signed as well.
Gina eyed them. “What do you do?”
“Deep space telemetry with the Air Force,” Cam said. “When we met we were in training to be combat pilots, but that’s for the young bucks now.”
Realization dawned in Gina’s eyes. “Well, I think this place will be a great starter home for the two of you and your future dog.” She handed them two keys. “Enjoy, gentlemen.”
“We will,” Evan said.
Gina scooped up the signed rental agreement. “I’ll send copies once this has been filed with the leasing office.” She waved and ducked out of the apartment.
“What now?” Cam asked, after the door closed behind her.
“Now,” Evan said, pulling him close, “we christen this place. Break open the champagne.”

Date: 2018-07-06 01:09 am (UTC)“I’ve never been. It’ll be an adventure.”
It was actually an exercise in physical labor. She, Derek, and Reid all had baskets, and they wandered the seemingly endless aisles of Powells for what seemed like hours, and Reid filled their baskets. He had books on everything from literature to art to history to science to science fiction, supernatural teen romances, religion and philosophy and also a slew of books on linguistics, foreign languages, mathematics and also a series of graphic novels. They filled all of their baskets, and then Derek and Emily were dispatched to have the baskets held at the front while they brought Spencer two more books to fill.
By the time Reid had filled five baskets, Emily thought her arms were going to fall off, and also that Reid was going to go broke.
But the clerks smiled at him. “Dr. Reid, always so lovely to see you.”
Reid smiled - and fished in his wallet for cash.
Emily goggled as he handed over a veritable fortune. Then he selected ten books to entertain him on the flight home, and the clerks helped him box up all the other books to be shipped to his apartment in Virginia.
Afterward, they headed back to the hotel where the rest of the team was waiting to meet them for dinner. Reid had his nose buried in one book, flipping through the pages like he was counting them instead of actually reading. Derek had one hand on his shoulder, steering him gently.
“Is it always like this when he goes book shopping?” Emily asked.
Derek said, “There’s a reason he uses cash. It was - dangerous, for a while. With a credit card on Amazon.”
Emily couldn’t even imagine.
Derek smiled at her and said, “Thanks for coming along. Welcome to the team.”

Date: 2018-07-05 02:54 pm (UTC)Fill: The Mortal Instruments, Magnus Bane + Camille
Date: 2018-07-06 01:18 am (UTC)Magnus’s hand hovered over the mouse. “But -”
“Do you remember the baroque period?” she asked. “And the rococo? All that gold leaf and Cupids galore and endless seashells and flowers and so much frill you thought you’d lose your mind?”
Magnus gestured helplessly at the screen. “Look at it. It’s beautiful. All that glass, those clean, elegant lines, how it glows when you light it just right -”
“Stop with the trendy furniture,” Camille said. “Because you’ll buy it and spend a stupid fortune on it and a month later something else will be trendy and then you’ll hate it and -”
“And if I don’t smash it it’ll end up selling at Sotheby’s for a ridiculous fortune in three centuries and you and I can giggle while we watch mortals bid over it.”
“Point,” Camille said.
Magnus reached for the mouse.
Camille swatted his hand away. “I’m still saying no. As your friend, I only want what’s best for you.”
Magnus pouted.
Camille pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Don’t sulk, darling. Throw a party. Invite everyone. You’ll feel better, and you won’t regret it.”
“Regret throwing the party, or not buying that piece of art?”
“Either. Both,” Camille said.
So Magnus threw a party.
And then a trio of Shadowhunters and their not-actually-a-Mundie friend crashed it.

Date: 2018-07-05 02:55 pm (UTC)Fill (sort of): Thor, Bro Fashion
Date: 2018-07-05 05:43 pm (UTC)"Do you even know what a bro is?" Sam teased.
"Certainly. It is someone who is a brother and dresses like their brother. And I," he chuckled, "most certainly do not dress like my brother," flittering a mocking gaze towards Loki who was leaning against a pillar.
Loki snorted, but didn't say anything good.
"Ya, that's the problem, dude"
Thor stood up from his relaxed seat on the couch and started pacing.
"What then is a `bro` and why do I not wish to look like one?" he inquired.
"A bro is a dude primarily interested in beer, sex, trucks, and extreme sports," Sam explained
Loki snorted again, "I mean, if the shoe fits..."
Thor lightly smacked his brother upside the head.
"And that is bad?"
"Ya, makes you a douche and a dick. A dickdouche," Peter said, causing Tony to laugh aloud .
"I would know, I used to be one," Tony said, "Its not something you really want to be,"
Thor paused, thinking to himself. "So, you wish me to dress more like Loki?" he said, turning towards his brother. "But he looks so...so..." hand gesturing up and down.
"Hot," Bruce chimed in suddenly, the room going silent.
"Why Bruce, I had no idea you had such … intense feelings for me," Loki said, a sultry tone to his voice, winking at Bruce.
Bruce rolled his eyes.
"Naw, Bruce is right," Sam said appreciatively, "He might be evil, but he can fill out a suit,"
Murmurs of agreement filled the room.
Thor sighed, "Fine. I wish not to dress like my brother, however. Our mother used to delight in making us wear matching clothing as children, and I do not desire to return to that. I wish then, to dress like Tony"
Tony gaffawed, "I'm flattered, Pointe Break, but this is my style, get your own. And I, unlike you, can rock the casual bro look. Pepper calls it 'tech boy chic',"
"Actually, I have a friend who has just been foaming at the bit to get you to wear her mens wear...she would let you keep them," he continued.
"Yes, excellent. I wish to meet this foaming woman," Thor commanded.
"But first," Natasha said, "we have to get you some better casual wear. Come on, we're going to Target," and she pulled him towards the door.
"Oh wonderful, I can get some new weaponry at this Target then too,"
"No,...oh never mind, just come on," she said.
