Hello, everyone. I’m
squidgiepdx and today's theme is all things dark and/or chocolatey. Prompts can be just about anything, as long as they have to do with either darkness and/or chocolate. Who doesn't like chocolate? Well, Steve McGarrett may try and make Danno eat carob - with disastrous results. Or maybe it's one character following the other out into the darkness, like Rodney following John out to the East Pier far after midnight. Whatever you want to prompt, as long as it's about darkness and/or chocolate, we're here for it!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, Rodney and John's first kiss is on the East Pier, under cover of night
+ Letterkenny, Wayne/Daryl, Wayne never noticed the noises Darry made when he ate dark chocolate until they started sleeping together
+ due South, Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski, "White chocolate isn't chocolate, Fraser, and if you think it is, you're crazier than I thought."
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2018 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-09-13 05:11 pm (UTC)The note had listed a phone number, a date, and a time, and a simple instruction: call me.
Henry was confused and a little nervous. Apart from Barry who came to visit him every week, no one spoke to him. He hadn’t seen his wife’s parents since his last parole hearing, where her mother had sobbed and her father had glared at him the entire time.
But there was more than enough money for the phone call, so Henry submitted the paperwork and requested the date and time for the phone call.
He sat in the call booth, dialed the number on the card, listened to it ring.
There was a pause, a delay, as the person on the other end heard the pre-recorded warning that all phone calls were recorded and monitored.
And then a man said, “Hey.”
“Hello?” Henry said cautiously. He wasn’t sure if the voice was familiar or not, and people sounded different over the phone anyway.
“Barry’s birthday is in three weeks,” the man said.
“How do you know that?” Henry asked, alarmed.
“...Because I’m his boyfriend.”
“Oh. Oh!” Relief flooded Henry’s limbs. “Arthur. Sorry. I didn’t recognize your voice.” In his defense, he’d only met the man once. He’d been surprised that Barry had brought anyone to meet him at all, because Barry never had, not once, even though he’d been very starry-eyed about a girl named Iris for a while. That Barry had brought a veritable mountain of a man, one with long hair and a plethora of tattoos, had been even more surprising. For the visit, Arthur had been laconic, looming behind Barry more like a bodyguard than a boyfriend, though by all reports they’d met through some kind of brunch buddy thing where strangers were grouped together for brunch at a fine restaurant.
Barry had been nervous, but when he sneaked little smiles up at Arthur, he’d looked so damn happy that Henry couldn’t help but be happy for him.
“Barry says you used to make him chocolate cake for his birthday.”
“Yes, but - it’s been over a decade.”
“Do you remember the recipe?”
Henry thought. “I think so.”
“Can you tell it to me?”
“Are you going to bake the cake right this second?”
“I’m going to hang up and go buy the ingredients. When you call me next week - at the same time - then you can walk me through it.”
Barry was socially awkward - how could he not be, having been isolated from friends and family as the son of a murderer, brilliant and inquisitive on top of that? - and apparently his surfer bum boyfriend was even more awkward.
“Okay,” Henry said. If he put in the paperwork later today he could get the phone call in time.
Arthur said, “My mom abandoned me when I was a baby and my dad died when I was sixteen. I’m not very good at birthdays.”
Henry’s heart ached for this wounded boy who loved Henry’s wounded boy.
“If you can pull off this cake, it’ll be a good birthday,” Henry said. And he started to rattle off the recipe.
It had been years since he’d made that cake. He had to close his eyes and make the motions with his hands, reaching for measuring cups, pouring and mixing and stirring, but sure enough, he remembered.
“Thanks,” Arthur said. “Same time next week.”
And the phone call was over.
Henry put in paperwork for the next call and shuffled back to his cell. Barry’s birthday was in three weeks and Henry was drawing him a birthday card.
The next week, Henry went to call Arthur Curry, who had managed to get himself added to Henry’s approved contact list, and he talked Arthur through the cake-baking process.
Once it was in the oven, an awkward silence fell between them. Even though Arthur was laconic at best, he was intelligent, asked thoughtful questions during the process, didn’t hesitate to say if he didn’t understand, and clarified if he was unsure, so the conversation moved along.
“Do you want me to wait with you while it bakes?” Henry asked finally.
“You got anything else to do?” Arthur asked.
“Not really, no.” Henry cleared his throat. “So...tell me about yourself?”

Date: 2018-09-18 02:36 am (UTC)Rosie Watson watched Sherlock Holmes eyes threaten to take on a fervor usually saved for cases. It seemed he had deep feelings about chocolate that somehow none of them had realized. She leaned against the counter.
"Dad doesn't like dark chocolate. Says it tastes like Army chocolate, wont' touch it."
Sherlock straighened from his place over a double boiler that appaared to be made of an Erlenmeuyer flask and a small dish that looked suspeciously like a petri dish.
"He'll like it after he tries this dessert." Sherlock narrowed his eyes slightly. "It'll do him good."
That always got her. She flicked eyebrows in doubt, but the gesture was half-hearted.
"Now, are you going to help me, or not? There's a delightful tradation about licking the bowl..."
He couldn't understand why she paled so quickly.

Date: 2018-09-11 04:49 pm (UTC)Teen Wolf, Stiles Stilinski
Date: 2018-09-12 03:03 am (UTC)Stiles was used to things that go bump in the night. He had faced down rogue alphas, the alpha of alphas, fairies, and even his own head. But he wasn’t ashamed to admit he didn’t like it when he saw eyes shining back at him in the dark.
If they had been red. Or blue. Or gold… he would have called out, assuming it was a member of the pack. Even a fiery orange could have been Jordan lurking around.
But these were a sickly green that were low to the ground.
And Stiles didn’t have even a quarter on him to throw at the glow to startle them away.
“My best friend is the Alpha of the McCall-Hale pack,” he called towards the eyes. “And my boyfriend. Well, I guess you’d call him by boyfriend. That seems a bit too tame for what we are. But my… Derek… is the second in command. So you’d better just… leave me alone.”
“Who are you talking to?”
Stiles let out a shriek. A manly shriek. A very manly shriek and turned to find Derek frowning at him. “Stop with your wolfy shenanigans!” he blurted.
Derek raised an eyebrow at the comment before repeating his question, “Who are you talking to?”
“The eyes!”
Derek’s own eyes glowed and he shook his head. “It’s the McGregor’s cat.”
Stiles humphed. “I knew that.”
Derek reeled him in with a hand on his waist. “Of course you did.”

Date: 2018-09-12 04:04 am (UTC)He felt Evan's lips on his shoulder, followed by his tongue. After Evan was done licking at Rodney's skin, he pressed up close against Rodney's side and nuzzled at the crook of Rodney's neck.
That's when Rodney felt it.
Sticky.
"Told you I'd put that mouth to work, didn't I?"
Rodney giggled. "You're the one who got all artistic, Mister Chocolate Body Paint."
"Fun, though. Right?"
"That's putting it mildly, I think." Rodney turned his face towards Evan's and kissed him slow and deep, tasting the remnants of chocolate and a hint of something else that sent newfound warmth flowing through Rodney's veins.
Evan hummed and wrapped his arms around Rodney. And then Rodney noticed it again.
So. Sticky.
Rodney pulled away from the kiss, which made Evan frown slightly.
"Mmm, okay, I love you and all that, but that chocolate is everywhere now and it's sticky and I can't ignore it, so I vote for shower sex, or just a shower really-"
"You love me?"
Rodney blinked. He had said that, hadn't he? Evan stared at him, and Rodney could tell he was trying not to grin.
Oh well. Rodney would have said it sooner or later. He nodded, running his hand through Evan's hair.
"I do."
"I love you too," Evan whispered.
They sat in silence for a few beats, just looking at each other.
Rodney grunted. "Okay, really-"
Evan laughed. "Yes, we can shower. Besides, I think it's time for round two..."

Date: 2019-06-24 01:22 am (UTC)John looked up from where he was making popcorn and setting up the rest of the snacks for the evening. “Most of it. Rodney will be here soon with the movie. And we’ve got a treat for you and Ronan.”
“More of your na-chos?” she asked, curling up in one of the chairs.
“No.” John sat down next to her, producing what to him was a familiar brown, silver, and red package. “Chocolate.” He handed one bar to her and passed another over to Ronon, who’d been sitting quietly in another chair, reading.
The Satedan inspected the package. “What is this?” he asked.
“Candy,” John replied.
“This is what Rodney hordes, along with his coffee,” Teyla commented. “I recognize the wrapper.”
“Yes, so you should be happy the colonel convinced me to share.”
Teyla smiled at him as she carefully unwrapped the top of the bar. “It was kind of you to share, Rodney.”
Rodney grumbled, but went over to set up the movie as Teyla broke off a piece and popped it in her mouth. Bitter sweetness exploded on her tongue and her eyes widened. “This is wonderful!” she exclaimed, exchanging glances with Ronon who’d eaten his own bite. “We will have to get more of this!”
John chuckled quietly. “We’ll keep that in mind,” he said. “We ready for the movie, Rodney?”
“Yes.” Rodney settled on the couch, accepting the block of chocolate Teyla handed him. Satisfied, they all relaxed back to watch the movie.
John smiled. It seemed that Operation: Introduce Chocolate had been a success.

Date: 2018-09-11 04:50 pm (UTC)MCU, Clint Barton, Ariana Barton
Date: 2018-09-12 02:53 am (UTC)Clint muttered in his sleep, rolling over and farther away from the noise.
The small being beside his bed took a deep breath. “DADDY!”
Bolting upright, Clint reached for the gun under his pillow even as his brain kicked out the reason for his abrupt awakening. His hand relaxed and he pulled it free, still empty. “Button?” He held his arms out, keen eyes instantly detecting her tear-stained face and tiny hands clutching Yastreb. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s dark!” she wailed, even as she scrambled into his comforting grip.
Clint started to reassure her and then realized the little he was seeing was coming from emergency lights. Something must have knocked out most of the power to the Tower. Hoping that didn’t include the more special members of the building, Clint asked, “JARVIS? What’s going on?”
“I apologize, Agent Barton. We seem to have suffered some sort of system failure. Sir is working on restoring power.”
Ariana lifted her head from where she’d buried it, sniffing away her tears. “Unca Tony?” she asked.
“Working on it, Button.” Clint fumbled in his nightstand drawer one handed, cursing when he realized the flashlight wasn’t there. “Okay,” he said, hefting Ariana onto his hip. “It’s not really dark,” he assured her.
“It is,” she insisted. “No power. No lights.”
“You have your mommy’s logic,” he informed her, causing her to let out a watery giggle. “Speaking of, where did Mommy put the flashlight?”
Ariana shrugged, swinging her arms up and almost hitting him with her stuffed hawk. “The sink?” she guessed.
Clint sputtered out a laugh and started to reply, only to be stopped by a loud pounding on the front door of the apartment. “JARVIS?”
“I’m sorry, Agent, my cameras are currently inoperable.”
“Of course they are,” Clint muttered. “Button, onto my back.” That would leave his arms free to defend them both and allow him to protect her. He wasn’t going to take the chance that this outage was a prelude to an attack. Pulling a knife from the rack by the doorway, he settled Ariana on his back before cat-footing across the room and easing the front door open.
Steve Rogers had his fist poised to pound on the door again; Bruce Banner peering around him. Steve stepped back, startled, when he saw Clint’s raised knife. “Whoa! Do you always answer your door armed?”
“When I don’t know why the power’s out, yes,” Clint answered.
“It’s dark!” Ariana cried, assured that she knew the people at the door.
Steve looked puzzled so Clint hastened to explain, “Ariana has trouble with the dark when one of us is gone. Something woke her and…”
“It was dark,” Steve finished in understanding. He leaned close to whisper to Ariana, “I don’t like the dark either.”
“Daddy protect you,” Ariana declared, holding tightly to Clint.
Clint snorted at the thought of 6’4” Captain America needing protecting. “Were you pounding on our door for a reason, Cap?”
“Safety in numbers,” Steve explained. “And I thought… hot chocolate?”
Ariana’s grey eyes lit up at the idea of the treat and she bounced on Clint’s back. “Please, Daddy?”
“Sure. I don’t think we’re going to get you back to sleep anyway.” Pulling the door shut behind them, he followed Steve and Bruce down the hall.

Date: 2018-09-11 04:51 pm (UTC)Steve/Bucky with a side of Sam, but not a pairing
Date: 2018-09-30 06:38 pm (UTC)Bucky shook his head, clutching his hand and backing away from the other two men. “I don’t. I can’t. I… I won’t.”
Steve reached towards Bucky, almost begging, “Buck…”
“No. I’m not him. I can’t be him.”
“No one is asking you to be him,” Sam assured Bucky. “Steve just wants you to be okay.” He nudged Steve, who looked shocked for a moment, then nodded quickly. “But you need to talk to us.”
“I can’t.” Bucky pulled away from them, pacing towards the window.
“I have an idea,” Sam said, getting up himself.
Steve watched them both as Sam moved towards the light switches, flicking them off and plunging the room into semi-darkness. For a moment, all three men tensed and then the room seemed to lose some of its power. “What are you doing?” Bucky demanded.
“Sometimes,” Sam explained. “It’s easier to talk if you don’t have to look at the people you’re talking to.” He held up a hand. “I know there’s enough light for you to see both of us. But just… give it time, okay? And try it.”
Bucky took a seat, but shook his head when Steve attempted to come closer. “I can’t talk about it if you’re right here.”
“Can I stay in the room?” Steve asked.
It took a moment, but Bucky finally nodded.
“Okay,” Sam said. “Ready?” Bucky indicated he was and Sam asked quietly, “What do you want to tell Steve?”
Bucky looked at the floor, then at his hands. “I’m not ready for you to call me ‘Bucky’. I’m not him. I don’t know if all of my memories will ever come back. But I’m not him.”
“What do you want Steve to call you?” Sam prompted.
“James, for now,” Bucky offered hesitantly. “Maybe someday I can be Bucky again.”
“Good,” Sam praised. “Anything else you want to share today?”
“I’ve remembered more… more of what he did,” James admitted.
“Can I…?” Steve made a move towards Bucky, who nodded and allowed the blonde to wrap an arm around him.
“I remembered,” Bucky started, drawing on the strength of Steve beside him.
Sam was glad that JARVIS discreetly recorded all sessions with the two Super Soldiers as Bucky outlined mission after mission that he remembered.
